The Eagles had a chance to re-sign Jason Babin after the 2009 season and passed. This time around, they didn't, and Babin is now set to join the team for his second tour of duty in Philadelphia, this time on a five-year deal.

The news, as first reported by Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, makes absolute sense because of the personnel change on Philadelphia's coaching staff.

As CBSSports.com's own Clark Judge notes, the addition of Jim Washburn as Philadelphia's defensive line coach makes Babin -- who played under Washburn in 2010 when he registered 12.5 sacks with the Titans -- a perfect fit for the Eagles.

This leads us to the question that Pete Prisco asked when he ranked Babin 21st on his Top-50 free agent list: "Can he do it again?"

Well, yes, he can. Although he's a little longer in the tooth at this stage, he's clealry got the talent and with Washburn bringing out the best in Babin. Add in the aggressive defense that the Eagles are known for and there's certainly a recipe for continued success.

I love the signing of Babin. That helps the line dramatically. Rogers Cromartie is the answer at corner. Now if we can find some linebackers we should be all set. I am also an animal fan but Michael Vick is doing all the right things to tell kids he did wrong and that is not how you treat animals. What is Big Ben going to do, go back to the women he has abused and do the same. I don't think so. Trying to compare the two is moronic. Even an animal lover can see the difference between the two. I feel sorry for Big Ben's new wife. I can't believe she will be treated with class.

Babin is great sign for the Eagles.  He peaking and finding his mojo at just the right time.

Long in the tooth my butt, Babin has been under utilized until last year. Therefore there is not a lot of ware and tear on the body. I was hoping the Lions would have signed him.

(It should be noted that Jason Babin is from my hometown of Paw Paw, MI and I have been watching him play since his days in rocket football.)

Congrats Jason!

ben is a rapist and a weasel.  instead of owning up to his mistakes and and making amends by making the world a better place (like vick,) he covers up the scandal with bribes.  i cant wait til his new wifey takes his money over physical/sexual abuse or infidelity.  What happens when wifey says no?
how can any self respecting man with a mother, sister,  or daughter defend that rapist Piece of s-h-!-T?

even if Vick isnt genuine, he has helped way more animals than he hurt.  and educated thousands of young people who could otherwise make the same poor choices in life.

And what colors are those genius?
I explained his character in 100 percent correct detail already, but as a player, QB Dog Killer is just a one-trick pony who the media has massively overrated due to tearing apart an awful Redskins team on Monday Night Football. Just keep him from getting out of the pocket and at best, he's average. In all reality, he's the most overrated athlete of the 2000s.

That's funny a Big Ben fan talking about Vick's true colors.
What are you babbling about? The Eagles QB confessed to electrocuting, hanging, mutilating and slamming dogs to the pavement when they didn't perform well enough during fights. It takes a truly sick, twisted individual to do such a thing. As for Ben Roethlisberger, the man has never been arrested or charged with a crime. There is a BIG difference between him and QB Dog Killer. As a Steelers fan, I am very happy Big Ben is the Steelers QB. If the QB Dog Killer were a Steeler, I'd go find another team to root for until QB Dog Killer was no longer a Steeler.

Smart move. I am lucky to see what washburn can do with players being here in tennessee. Philly made a great pick up on a guy who can rise evem more. He has a high drive motor and will compliment Cole. Philly also rotates its line like Tennessee did and with Brandon Graham getting a great mentor to learn from the upside is wonderful. The Eagles have positioned themselves to do even better. Washburn loves to teach how to beat guys off the line and take the straight line to the Qb (jevon Kerse for example). Middle Linebacker and corner are still the weakness. And yes Fly Eagles fly. Ps Big Ben has obviously shown more than his true colors.......ask the women.Surprised

That's funny a Big Ben fan talking garbage about Michael Vick's true colors. Irony?
