Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal

Since the lockout ended, we've waited with baited breath to find out when Kevin Kolb would get traded from the Eagles (presumably to the Cardinals). It's a "done deal," a league source told CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman, who notes that Arizona will give up exactly what we noted earlier -- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a high draft pick, believed to be a second-rounder.

Additionally, according to 97.5 The Fan's Adam Caplan who first reported the deal, the Cardinals have reached an agreement on a contract extension with Kolb that will pay him $63 million, including a whopping $20 million in guaranteed money.

Summer of Kolb

That is a LOT of cheddar for a guy who, as Freeman notes, hasn't proven anything. Of course, it's also less than the $30 million that Kolb's camp was reportedly demanding from the Cardinals in order to finalize the deal.

Then again, was there ever really a chance that he Cardinals wouldn't cave to Kolb's demands for a large extension? As we've written throughout the week, this was a game of chicken that was destined to end poorly for the Cardinals purely in terms of what they'd have to give up to land the quarterback.

There's obviously a shot that this deal does work for Arizona, if Kolb comes in and helps them reclaim the NFC West title. Or, if he's simply good enough to allow them to retain superstar wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who hasn't been happy with Arizona's quarterback situation since Kurt Warner retired.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

It looks like the Eagles found a sucker a second round pick and Cromartie Wow Then The Cards give Kolb 63 Mil &  20Mil gar The Eagles got a deal like this before when they traded A.J. Feeley for a 2 pick and we know how that turned out there is a sucker out there somewhere.  Cards should of gotten Orton and save face

Eagles robbed the Cardinals with this trade. They are getting a high potential, good/great cornerback in Dominic Rodgers-Cromartie...and to top it off they get what should be an early 2nd round pick! I don't know what the Cardinals are thinking, but they are gambling a lot on one player, who isn't even a proven QB. Unless Kolb turns in a winning season, this trade was terrible. Personally, I see Kolb as a mediocre QB at best, who might lead the Cards to a playoff berth in the future, but will never put up pro bowl stats. Cards gave up too much for him...but they should know best, and if they think Kolb's the man, then its their choice. Only time will tell us if they were wise or not.

Arizona got rid of a decent CB for an unproven QB who WONT pan out... Wow.
You could have been smart and just went for Bulger, but  NOOOO.
Andy Reid and the had their way with you. Have fun in the cellar of the worst division in football.
At least you guys might get Andrew Luck...

I wonder who your head coach will be next year.

Wow, I think Cards way overpaid on this deal.  Last time Kolb saw any action, he got knocked out with a concussion on a hit that didn't seem that bad.  Eagles get the better end of this one.  Now they have 2 real good corners, even though samuels can't tackle.  Shoudl get a lot of turnovers this year.

When are you going to learn not to worry about the money anybody makes? You are not paying them and the owners are billioneres that won't miss it. It means nothing to the average fan.

Not sure how this helps the Cardinals. This will still have to aquire a STARTING QB somewhere
With the first pick in the 2012 NFL draft, the Arizona Cardinals select Andrew Luck, quarterback, Stanford.
