Since the lockout ended, we've waited with baited breath to find out when Kevin Kolb would get traded from the Eagles (presumably to the Cardinals). It's a "done deal," a league source told CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman, who notes that Arizona will give up exactly what we noted earlier -- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a high draft pick, believed to be a second-rounder.

Additionally, according to 97.5 The Fan's Adam Caplan who first reported the deal, the Cardinals have reached an agreement on a contract extension with Kolb that will pay him $63 million, including a whopping $20 million in guaranteed money.

Summer of Kolb

That is a LOT of cheddar for a guy who, as Freeman notes, hasn't proven anything. Of course, it's also less than the $30 million that Kolb's camp was reportedly demanding from the Cardinals in order to finalize the deal.

Then again, was there ever really a chance that he Cardinals wouldn't cave to Kolb's demands for a large extension? As we've written throughout the week, this was a game of chicken that was destined to end poorly for the Cardinals purely in terms of what they'd have to give up to land the quarterback.

There's obviously a shot that this deal does work for Arizona, if Kolb comes in and helps them reclaim the NFC West title. Or, if he's simply good enough to allow them to retain superstar wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who hasn't been happy with Arizona's quarterback situation since Kurt Warner retired.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

I have to hand it to the Eagles... they do make some great deals. What makes me really happy though is they always find a way to screw it up!!!
I don't think a Cowboys fan has any right to talk.  I mean congratulations for finally winning a playoff game in the past 2 decades, but the Cowboys definitely are huge screwups.  Why fire Jimmy Johnson?  It is hard to top that screwup.

As much as I hate the Eagles now for this, I cant blame them for celebrating this trade. If we are stupid enough to give them our pro bowl corner, 2nd rd pick, and a huge extension to Kolb its our own fault. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
Fool me 10 times, I'm Rod Graves.

The only reason why he looked "shaky" with the Eagles is because he had an offensive line that was very bad working together.
Great. He now has a worse offensive line in Arizona. Can you say 1-15?

Are you smoking crack or what? Kevin Kolb? DRC is more than just an average cornerback he has much potential and talent, plus you also get a mid to high 2nd round draft pick as I don't epect Kevin Kolb to lead the Cardinals anywehre near the playoffs. You sound crazy saying that was a bad deal for Philedelphia, in fact it was a great deal for them.

I think the Cards gave up way too much. DRC was a Pro Bowler a couple years back and Kolb hasn't really proven himself.

C'com man!!!! Enough of it. Vick has nothign to do with Kolb being traded; had he played better, your 'dog killer' would be in Arizona, perhaps. Kolb couldn't hold his job, perhaps you should flip fries better before you are out the door.

Of course the Eagles will sign off on the deal.  Hell they probably can't sign off quickly enough on it.  I bet they are trying hard to hold in their laughter as we speak.
