Since the lockout ended, we've waited with baited breath to find out when Kevin Kolb would get traded from the Eagles (presumably to the Cardinals). It's a "done deal," a league source told CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman, who notes that Arizona will give up exactly what we noted earlier -- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a high draft pick, believed to be a second-rounder.

Additionally, according to 97.5 The Fan's Adam Caplan who first reported the deal, the Cardinals have reached an agreement on a contract extension with Kolb that will pay him $63 million, including a whopping $20 million in guaranteed money.

Summer of Kolb

That is a LOT of cheddar for a guy who, as Freeman notes, hasn't proven anything. Of course, it's also less than the $30 million that Kolb's camp was reportedly demanding from the Cardinals in order to finalize the deal.

Then again, was there ever really a chance that he Cardinals wouldn't cave to Kolb's demands for a large extension? As we've written throughout the week, this was a game of chicken that was destined to end poorly for the Cardinals purely in terms of what they'd have to give up to land the quarterback.

There's obviously a shot that this deal does work for Arizona, if Kolb comes in and helps them reclaim the NFC West title. Or, if he's simply good enough to allow them to retain superstar wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who hasn't been happy with Arizona's quarterback situation since Kurt Warner retired.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

The Eagles got ripped off!!!!!!!!

They used their high 2nd round pick to draft Kolb when they did. Groom him for a few years to be the top QB in free agency which is the most important position in the NFL and then.....

Trade him for more than likely a lower 2nd round pick and an average CB when they could of picked up one in free agency who is better or at least just as good!

Stupid!!!!!!!!!

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

The new CBA seems to benefit the players that have shown they can do something in the league.  As opposed to paying college players who have not proved much against stronger opponents.  I don't mind seeing teams pay for the talent that proves worthy.  I mean we all know there is a tonne of money to be had in the NFL.  So no question the CBA is looking after the right type of player.  This year will be different as well just because of the short signing period and the need for many teams to rebuild at key positions.  The deal will either look good or blow up in Whisenhut's face, but he needed to do something in Arizona before he gets canned.  Still they missed the boat could have drafted Ryan Mallett.  GO PATS!

I like the Cards getting him, but I believe they gave up too much. Giving up DRC was a horrible decision. The market for Kolb was almost nothing because everyone signed different people. I would have offered the 2nd round pick alone or nothing. I think Orton would have been a better fit for the offense they run and probably would have gotten him for a 2nd or maybe a 3rd depending on how bad Miami wanted him. Still, Kolb should be able to perform and develop in the lowly NFC West and give them a legit shot at the title.

Philly made out like bandits.
No way is kolb even close to as good as Vick. I doubt whether he is as good as McNabb.
Arizona should've went for Orton or even Vince Young.
Kevin Kolb is the same guy they gave away. Matt Lienart. He will choke just as badly.

Shouldnt be hard for Kolb,  no idea how Linehart and crew couldnt just take a snap step into the pocket and toss the ball in some sort of direction..   With the receiving talent that the cardinals have its ashame.  Lets hope Kolb can take a snap and step back and give the ol pig a toss to someone.
