Since the lockout ended, we've waited with baited breath to find out when Kevin Kolb would get traded from the Eagles (presumably to the Cardinals). It's a "done deal," a league source told CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman, who notes that Arizona will give up exactly what we noted earlier -- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a high draft pick, believed to be a second-rounder.

Additionally, according to 97.5 The Fan's Adam Caplan who first reported the deal, the Cardinals have reached an agreement on a contract extension with Kolb that will pay him $63 million, including a whopping $20 million in guaranteed money.

Summer of Kolb

That is a LOT of cheddar for a guy who, as Freeman notes, hasn't proven anything. Of course, it's also less than the $30 million that Kolb's camp was reportedly demanding from the Cardinals in order to finalize the deal.

Then again, was there ever really a chance that he Cardinals wouldn't cave to Kolb's demands for a large extension? As we've written throughout the week, this was a game of chicken that was destined to end poorly for the Cardinals purely in terms of what they'd have to give up to land the quarterback.

There's obviously a shot that this deal does work for Arizona, if Kolb comes in and helps them reclaim the NFC West title. Or, if he's simply good enough to allow them to retain superstar wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who hasn't been happy with Arizona's quarterback situation since Kurt Warner retired.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

I think Kolb has the ability to be a very talented QB in time. $63 million dollar contract though? With $20 million guaranteed? I just don't understand this. The guy has shown spurts of good play but the overall stats just do not merit this kind of deal. The Cardinals front office looks desperate, weak, and stupid in this situation. Sure he could end up a great QB but odds are he will be mediocre.

As a Raiders fan I am use to seeing dumb moves in the front office like these and I think Arizona really just hurt its cap room with this one. I cannot believe more teams aren't trying to get a trade going with Denver for Kyle Orton.

My money was on Seattle trying to get him over there but they traded for Tavarius Jackson? Pete Carroll must think his 2 backup calibur players Whitehurst and Jackson can win him an NFC West title at 8-8. Which is very possible in that joke of a division. However, I thought the goal was to win Super Bowls in the NFL? I guess I am just old fashoin like that.

Good luck Kolb and for your sake and the front office in Arizona you better throw lots of TD's to Fitzgerald or he will be long gone soon.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

Woohoo!  As an Eagles fan I'm feeling very good right now.  A pro-bowl corner and a second round pick for a QB with a lot of question marks.  Arizona took a huge leap of faith by trading for and signing Kolb.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

Why do people care who is the back-up to Vick as if back-ups come in like a closer situation. Maybe it's just me, but being a fan of the Eagles (and football) since the Early 80's I couldn't tell you most back-ups names. For the most part on ANY team, your starting QB goes down, so do your chances of winning the SB. Except for Brady, who no one saw coming, I can't think of another back-up that ever lead a team to a Super Bowl year.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

I think both teams got a great deal out of it.  Eagles fill a need in their secondary, Cardinals fill a big need at QB.  Kolb will be good for you guys as long as you give him time.  The only reason why he looked "shaky" with the Eagles is because he had an offensive line that was very bad working together.  Kolb has weapons, a better suited o-line, and a starting job.  Just give him appropriate time and he'll carve up defenses.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

I thought the plan was for Mr. Rodgers-Cromartie to menr Patrick Petersen to form a lethal tandem. Apparently, the Cardinals think that they can win with no pass defense whatsoever. Have they seen how the 49ers have fared? You can't win if you don't have good pass defense. Lol..looks like the sports experts are right. The 49ers are the only team in the division to make major changes/strides while their opponents have taken a step back or not improved themselves. Kevin Kolb will show the whole world that he is Ryan Leaf 2.0.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

Boy did the Eagles make out like bandits on this one. What kind of smoke and mirrors did they use on this coup? Kolb has done nothing to earn $63M or be worthy of Cromartie yet alone a 2nd round pick. I thought Carolina resigning Johnson was bad, this is worse.

Everyone overpaying for FAs now, except my Cowboys but only because they have no money to spend (because they overpaid for Roy Wiliams a few years ago). Teams having to spend up to their cap now however means that in the future all teams will be up against the cap when FA starts, putting them on equal footing. Overall that's a good thing that will increase parity.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

If I was a Cards fan I'd be optimistically hopeful about Kolb.  In fact, if one of my fantasy drafts leaves too many good RBs and WRs for me to pick in the first few rounds to take a QB, Kolb is one of the guys I'd gladly grab later.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

I like the Cards getting Kolb, the 63 million part will remain to be determined......but the bottom line is that is the one postiong they needed the most since losing Warner.  They have one of the most talented receiving corps in the league and a legitimate rushing game now too.  I say he makes the Card a force to reckon with this year......BTW..GO STEELERS!!!Cool
