Since the lockout ended, we've waited with baited breath to find out when Kevin Kolb would get traded from the Eagles (presumably to the Cardinals). It's a "done deal," a league source told CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman, who notes that Arizona will give up exactly what we noted earlier -- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a high draft pick, believed to be a second-rounder.

Additionally, according to 97.5 The Fan's Adam Caplan who first reported the deal, the Cardinals have reached an agreement on a contract extension with Kolb that will pay him $63 million, including a whopping $20 million in guaranteed money.

Summer of Kolb

That is a LOT of cheddar for a guy who, as Freeman notes, hasn't proven anything. Of course, it's also less than the $30 million that Kolb's camp was reportedly demanding from the Cardinals in order to finalize the deal.

Then again, was there ever really a chance that he Cardinals wouldn't cave to Kolb's demands for a large extension? As we've written throughout the week, this was a game of chicken that was destined to end poorly for the Cardinals purely in terms of what they'd have to give up to land the quarterback.

There's obviously a shot that this deal does work for Arizona, if Kolb comes in and helps them reclaim the NFC West title. Or, if he's simply good enough to allow them to retain superstar wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who hasn't been happy with Arizona's quarterback situation since Kurt Warner retired.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

To this day...I can't understand what this guy has done to make him as glorified and awesome as he is....wasn't he a 2nd round pick?  What has he done to justify his glory?  He has started a handful of games and pay him like he is the next coming of god?  I don't get it...I will let Arizona take him...

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

Kolb will be a serviceable QB in the mold of Matt Hasselback or Eli Manning.  I don't think he'll be a Peyton Manning, but a 3000 yd passer with about 20 TDs sounds about what he'll do.   His biggest problem is his turnover rate.  He could have close to 20 Ints his first few years the way he sometimes throws it up for grabs.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

Like Kolb but don't see how this west-coast qb fits Arizona's drop-back passing game.  Also, what do the Eagles do when Vick goes down? Mike Kafta?  Vince Young?

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

Wow!  I hope they know what they are doing.  10-9 TD/Int Ratio last year, right?  Just making sure we are looking at the same stat sheet...and that was with a VERY talented Eagles team - Cards don't have near the talent, besides Fitzy of course.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

I'm a Cardinals fan..... we just screwed ourselves.

Kolb looked so shaky when he played the few games he did with Philly.  He sucked last preseason too.  We gave away too much.  We were better off getting Bulger or Orton for a lot less.  Orton could have just bombed the ball to Fitzgerald.

Would have liked to have DRC and Peterson (our first round draft) at corner.  Ten years from now the NFL Network will update their top 10 dumbest trades/deal to this one.

That's a big investment.  I think I like it better than Fat Albert to NE.  Good luck Kevin.  Good luck Cards.
