Since the lockout ended, we've waited with baited breath to find out when Kevin Kolb would get traded from the Eagles (presumably to the Cardinals). It's a "done deal," a league source told CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman, who notes that Arizona will give up exactly what we noted earlier -- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a high draft pick, believed to be a second-rounder.

Additionally, according to 97.5 The Fan's Adam Caplan who first reported the deal, the Cardinals have reached an agreement on a contract extension with Kolb that will pay him $63 million, including a whopping $20 million in guaranteed money.

Summer of Kolb

That is a LOT of cheddar for a guy who, as Freeman notes, hasn't proven anything. Of course, it's also less than the $30 million that Kolb's camp was reportedly demanding from the Cardinals in order to finalize the deal.

Then again, was there ever really a chance that he Cardinals wouldn't cave to Kolb's demands for a large extension? As we've written throughout the week, this was a game of chicken that was destined to end poorly for the Cardinals purely in terms of what they'd have to give up to land the quarterback.

There's obviously a shot that this deal does work for Arizona, if Kolb comes in and helps them reclaim the NFC West title. Or, if he's simply good enough to allow them to retain superstar wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who hasn't been happy with Arizona's quarterback situation since Kurt Warner retired.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

A friend of mine told me he had a hard time not wanting to punch Vicks face in after hearing all the grusome things he did to those defenseless animals.

Sure he did.

Good luck to you Kolb, I wish you would have beat the shit out of that scum bag that got away with killing and torturing more animals than ever serial killer put together in the last 40 years.

Dogs Life = Humans life?

I hope all you low life hero worshipppers that cheer for Vick or even draft in your loser fantansy league have nothing but bad luck for the rest of your lives.

That's not very nice.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

This is what's wrong with professional sports.  I have no problem with the top players getting paid a fortune, because they bring in the money, they put fans in the seats (i.e. Kobe/LeBron in the NBA, Crosby/Ovechkin in the NHL, Manning/Brady/Peterson/etc in the NFL...).  But when a guy like Kevin Kolb gets this much money - something is wrong.

Look at what the guy has done.  He's been in the league as a backup for 4 years.  In the limited action he had last year, he was just "okay."  Very average.  76 QB rating in the 7 games he played in (5 starts).  I understand teams with a QB wanted him because there's not much out there, but has he really earned that big of a pay day??? Absolutely not.

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

This is a fact, Kolb is so happy to get away from that psychotic dog killer Vick.  A friend of mine told me he had a hard time not wanting to punch Vicks face in after hearing all the grusome things he did to those defenseless animals.  He also said he wasn't the only one who felt the same way, but that the Eagles made it clear not to bring off field problems into the lockerroom.  Good luck to you Kolb, I wish you would have beat the shit out of that scum bag that got away with killing and torturing more animals than ever serial killer put together in the last 40 years.  I hope all you low life hero worshipppers that cheer for Vick or even draft in your loser fantansy league have nothing but bad luck for the rest of your lives.

You forgot Doug Williams, the only black QB to win the Super Bowl was a back up for Joe Theisman.

Who is the 16yr old who thinks Brady is the only backup QB to win the superbowl??? For your edification:

Roger Staubach
Terry Bradshaw
Jim Plunkett
Doug Williams
Jeff Hostetler
Trent Dilfer
Kurt Warner
Tom Brady
Earl Morrall/Bob Griese (each backed the other up different years)

And this is just from memory ... I may be missing a few. As usual, so many are shooting their mouths off without ever giving the guy a chance. I'm not a big fan of Kolb but I think he could do quite well in the right system. I'll wait till midseason to judge this deal!

Kevin Kolb traded to Cardinals with $63M deal?

We just went through 6 month of a lockout because the owners were losing money. They they sign unproven guys to 20 mill guaranteed Same old NFl. In 10 years they will have the exact same argument.

It's not that bad of a move. Can you name a better available QB on the market? Kolb has shown he is serviceable in the short time he has been on the field. He has a bonafide superstar to throw to in Fitz, Doucett is rounding out into a nice #2, but losing Breaston hurts. If Wells shows up, that is a pretty solid offense. The defense will be the problem this year. Skelton, Hall, and Anderson should have never been on an NFL team, let alone starters. It can only get better for AZ.
