Vince Young was released by the Titans on Thursday, prompting much Twitter screaming from us. What? We were excited. (And we forgot to wash our hands after lunch so our Caps Lock key was stuck.)

So was Andy Reid apparently, because according to a report Friday from Albert Breer of the NFL Network, he didn't take long to reportedly sign Young to a one-year deal with Philly.

The likelihood of Young signing with the Eagles was first reported Thursday by CBSSports.com's own Clark Judge.

The Eagles have yet to confirm that they've signed Young, but according to our Eagles Rapid Reporter Kevin Noonan, starting quarterback Michael Vick has.

"I'm looking forward to having him in here and I'm looking forward to working with him," Vick said.

But there was some confusion as to whether or not Young would have to clear waivers, but the NFL cleared the situation up on Friday, pointing out that players with four or more years of service like Young and former Cowboys wideout Roy Williams did not need to clear waivers before negotiating with teams.

Young -- and anyone else -- still can't sign until 6:00 p.m. ET on Friday, but it now appears that he's free to negotiate a deal as the Eagles backup.

Not that it really would have mattered -- no one was going to claim Young and burn more than $4 million in roster bonus money for someone that really only appears to be coveted as a backup by one or two teams.

This move opens up the Eagles offense to a lot of options. Remember last year when they ran Kolb and Vick on the field at the same time. Well everyone knew when Kolb was split out wide he was a non-factor. Now when you send Vick or Young out there you have and athlete that has to be accounted for and opens the Eagles offense up to a wide variety of plays. This is a good move.
The only negative their may be is the Eagles adding to many extra plays to the playbook and it will take Andy longer to get the play in, if that is possible, and they will have to burn timeouts at a higher rate and will get called for more delay of games if that is also possible.

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!  Can't wait.  Get ready for some USC magic in the NFL for Vince Young.  Tons of talent and learning from the best mobile qb in the game today.  This is great for Philly!!!

Vince Young backing Michael Vick... Anyone see that coming because I sure didn't? Both QB's are mobile, but Vick has changed his up his game and has made one of the biggest comebacks of all time. Do they want a Michael Vick clone in the wings in case the worst thing happens to Vick?
Don't get me wrong Vince Young gave hands down the best one man performance ever in the national championship game against USC in his college days. But he has never been able to shine that bright in the NFL.
Then again Vick didn't either when he played for Atlanta, sure he was the starter but nothing was ever really accomplished. Then his dog troubles happened, and he was out for an entire season. Now when given an opportunity he showed maturity as a quarterback. Using his head more than his legs. Perhaps Reid thinks he can use Vick as an example to Young, if Young can make similar changes and become a better quarterback, then I can see why Andy Reid is excited.

I would like to see some plays with Young under center and Vick playing halfback in a split-back formation with McCoy!!!
WHO's going left??? WHO'S going right??? WHO's getting the ball??? Oh, there's a halfback pass from Vick, deep post pattern TOUCHDOWN to Desean Jackson!!!

I completely agree, Look at what Andy has done for all the Philly QB's in the past.  With Mike's style of play he is likly to sustain an injury at least once and with Young as a back up im confident he will be the stud he was in college.

I agree.  Raiders can barely coach the team they have let alone bringing on Young who has an attitude and confidence issues. Out of the league i think that the raiders if not the lowest then has one of the lowest talented coaching staff.

I was quietly hoping the Eagles could get Young. The Eagles have a way of developing quarterbacks. This would be a great place for Young to refine his skills. Look what they did for Michael Vick.
