Vince Young was released by the Titans on Thursday, prompting much Twitter screaming from us. What? We were excited. (And we forgot to wash our hands after lunch so our Caps Lock key was stuck.)

So was Andy Reid apparently, because according to a report Friday from Albert Breer of the NFL Network, he didn't take long to reportedly sign Young to a one-year deal with Philly.

The likelihood of Young signing with the Eagles was first reported Thursday by CBSSports.com's own Clark Judge.

The Eagles have yet to confirm that they've signed Young, but according to our Eagles Rapid Reporter Kevin Noonan, starting quarterback Michael Vick has.

"I'm looking forward to having him in here and I'm looking forward to working with him," Vick said.

But there was some confusion as to whether or not Young would have to clear waivers, but the NFL cleared the situation up on Friday, pointing out that players with four or more years of service like Young and former Cowboys wideout Roy Williams did not need to clear waivers before negotiating with teams.

Young -- and anyone else -- still can't sign until 6:00 p.m. ET on Friday, but it now appears that he's free to negotiate a deal as the Eagles backup.

Not that it really would have mattered -- no one was going to claim Young and burn more than $4 million in roster bonus money for someone that really only appears to be coveted as a backup by one or two teams.

I mean how many headache QB's could one team handle?
Michael Vick has been a model citizen and quiet team player in Philadelphia.  He does have a checkered past, but his attitude for 2 years in Philly is more boring than headache inducing.

The Eagles have a top flight organization with the ownership, GM, and head coach.  They don't generally put up with any nonsense.

Funny thing about the Titans.  When Vince Young plays they win, and when he doesn't they lose.  Don't take my word for it, just look at win-loss record for the Titans by QB.  Looks like a looooooong year for the Titans...

I definately think they'll be a top 10 defense this year.  With all the headaches gone, Washington can focus on football and only football.  There was too much drama in D.C. last year.  I just hope WHOEVER the quarterback is, he's able to throw to all 30 receivers that we have now.  Ha ha.

Good move for the Eagles because "when" Vick misses games this year VY will be a much better option than Kafka.

Perfect place for a "mobile" inaccurate QB.

Good fit for Young.  I am just surprised that he was willing to sign only a one-year deal with a team, and so quickly after he was released.  Maybe this means that no other teams were putting feelers out there.  I was confident that VY would get more serious looks, maybe even as a potential starter somewhere.  In any event, I am glad the Redskins did not sign him.  He would have been a poor fit.  Like trying to put a square peg into a circle.

By the way, who thinks the Redskins defense has a chance to finish in the top 10 this year?  I am looking at their starters and really like what I see.  Here is a rough breakdown of a potential depth chart:

D-Line: Bowen, Cofield, Jarvis Jenkins (R), Carriker, Golston
LBs: Kerrigan (R), Orakpo, Fletcher, Lorenzo Alexander
DB's: Hall and Wilson
S's: Landry and Atogwe

If the Skins add another corner, a legitimate player who can start, then I think a top 10 defense is a lock.  Thoughts?

I agree with .    Oakland would have been a good fit for VY.   However, Philly is a good 2nd.   Vick has a high probability of getting hurt, and they won't have to re-tool their offense to fit VY.   He'll start 1 or 2 games this season.

I have not posted on CBS in quite sometime, but your comment begged me to jump back on. You really think Oakland is a good place to rehab Young's image. I didn't realize they had The coaching staff, and team structure that will help VY develop into a starting calibre QB. Oh, that's right they don't. The Lions I can understand a bit, even though they are just recently breaking a long history of irrelevance. Of course Philly is the perfect place for Young. He knows it and most of football fans know it. Just another typical Pats fans showing their high football IQ.........
