Orton running away with Broncos QB competition

All offseason long, two things about the Broncos have been assumed. One, that Kyle Orton will be traded at some point. And two, that Tim Tebow will just take over and run the Denver offense and succeed like he did at Florida.

OK, we didn't all assume that -- some of us knew John Fox wouldn't want a youngster like Tebow running his offense. But Denver seemed headed in that direction anyway.

One problem: Tebow's getting absolutely torched by Orton thus far in camp.

Like, to the point where Orton is the only guy getting reps with the No. 1 offense, according to the Denver Post's Mike Klis.

"[Tebow] and Brady Quinn are neck and neck in the battle for the No. 2 quarterback spot," Klis wrote Monday.
Orton's Offseason

Jim Trotter of Sports Illustrated, also dispatched to Denver's camp, writes that Orton has "clearly separated himself" from Tebow and Quinn, though he notes that it's not out of the realm of possibility that Tebow could still wind up starting.

And it's not -- Denver has a lot invested in him, would probably like to see him succeed (or at least succeed enough to trade him), and clearly doesn't see Orton as the answer (given that they put him on the block).

But as I said a few weeks ago, this is a Fox-run team and expecting to see Tebow take over for a vet like Orton is kind of a long-shot.

Especially when there's such a clear-cut talent discrepancy between the two on the field.

I'll show you another discrepancy when Orton gets racked up for 6 sacks per game.

Oh well, I like Orton, maybe the Broncos will be able to put up the wall around him that they need to and then he can do his thing.

It's funny that on this comment section the majority of people who are defending Tebow are people who just just created a profile today.  My guess is they are UF fans who don't understand that this is not college anymore.  Get over it.  I beleive he is going to fail but don't really need to waste my time worrying about it or a team I have no interest in.  My guess is they have nothing else to do b/c UF is going to stink this year and the most hypocritical college coach ever now works for ESPN 24/7 so that he can spend time with his family. Then why are you wasting your time posting this? Seems like you have nothing better to do than to hate on someone

I guess you didn't watch the Texans game last December did you? That comeback from 17-0 to 24-23 was ALL TEBOW! Or how about the almost Chargers upset the next week?

It is also funny that someone who doesn't care about Tim, but thinks he will fail,  or the Broncos, and would talk smack about the Gators is a Georgia Bulldog fan, huh Dawgbone?  See you at the Cocktail party.

You need to find another source other than MIKE KLIS.  He has been biased against Tim Tebow from day one.  For a nationwide report, for you to regurgitate someone else's opinion is disappointing. Shoddy reporting. It would do you well to find another source that is a little more credible.  Orton is not running away with the competition. He is taking the majority of the snaps, but we will have to see.  I for one, dont see him as a winner when push comes to shove.  He is a good quarterback but not a great Quarterback  Tebow will make a great quarterback if he is allowed to play like some of the other new players. Let him play and see what he does

Man that is all the Eye on Football people do. They copy and paste some other reporter's work, bad or good, then attempt to make a snarky comment, or add opinion.

These guys don't really have an Eye on Football, they have an Eye on Sports Websites...

I'm just trying to let people know you can't reley one source about tebow in training camp. I'm not sure why your bringing college football into the mix. My guess is you are a bitter Georgia fan and we all know why. All I know about Floida is they were really  bad lat year and Georgia still could'nt  beat them. Oh well maybe this year, best of luck.

It is tough to be a competition if you don't get any snaps with the first team!
