More details about the Brandon Marshall stabbing

MarshallPosted by Josh Katzowitz

Brandon Marshall’s role in the public eye intensified when he was stabbed by his wife in the offseason (he denied that it happened) and, later, when he admitted that he suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder.

And while there was very little question that Marshall had been stabbed by somebody (it was only allegedly caused by his wife), Marshall made the excuse that his cuts had been caused when he slipped on a vase.

But now the South Florida Times has the intricate details of what police found when they were called to the Marshall household in April.

Police found a “large pool of blood” in the foyer of the house before discovering other blood trails throughout the residence. Marshall had been slashed on his wrists and his abdomen, while his wife, Michi-Nogami Marshall, had a bruise on her left check. And, maybe most disturbing, police found a 13-inch bloody knife next to a bloody magazine clip from a gun.

It is a rather unsettling scene -- that surely wasn’t the result of a broken vase -- but hopefully, activities like this are in the past for Marshall and his wife.

jsbe,

As someone who works in the law enforcement profession, I think your comment is naive and enabling.  Whether Brandon Marshall has a borderline personality disorder or not, it's not an excuse for an ADULT to have tantrums, act violently, and continuously break the law whenever he gets upset.  If he's smart enough and aware enough to realize he may have a psychological disorder, then he's smart enough and aware enough to recognize it and cope with it, rather than act however he wishes without fear of recourse or consequence.

It's a shame that a guy with that much talent is that much of a screw up.  I hope his personality disorder gets under control, and if he can focus on his job and play to his potential there won't be any CB out there that can cover him.  I love his talent, hate his attitude, another waste of God given ability.  Where are the Jerry Rice's of today?  A lost era I suppose.

As someone who is currently working in the field of psychology and having studied the various personality disorders I think that your comment Marion S Knight is a rather insensitive one. I urge you to read up more on the disorder as it should not be taken lightly and is very difficult and distressing for the person dealing with it. Those suffering with BPD have a VERY difficult time maintaining stable interpersonal relationsships and I could understand, from what I have read here that this may have been a manifestation of Marshall's BPD causing extreme thinking possibly about his marriage. The DSM-IV-TR lists this diagnostic criteria for BPD, but I do urge you to research further as it is very difficult to treat and manage.

The fourth edition, DSM IV-TR, a widely used manual for diagnosing , defines borderline personality disorder (in Axis II ) as:

<dl><dd>A pervasive pattern of instability of , and , as well as marked , beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:</dd></dl><
;dl><dd>
  1. Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment. Note: Do not include suicidal or self-injuring behavior covered in Criterion 5
  2. A pattern of unstable and intense characterized by alternating between extremes of .
  3. disturbance: markedly and persistently unstable or .
  4. in at least two areas that are potentially self-damaging (e.g., , , , , ). Note: Do not include suicidal or self-injuring behavior covered in Criterion 5
  5. Recurrent , gestures, threats or such as cutting, interfering with the healing of scars (excoriation) or picking at oneself.
  6. instability due to a marked reactivity of (e.g., intense episodic , irritability or usually lasting a few hours and only rarely more than a few days).
  7. Chronic feelings of
  8. Inappropriate or difficulty controlling anger (e.g., frequent displays of temper, constant anger, recurrent physical fights).
  9. Transient, -related ideation, or severe symptoms

It is a requirement of DSM-IV that a diagnosis of any specific personality disorder also satisfies a set of .

More details about the Brandon Marshall stabbing

I am not saying Josh McDaniels was a good Head coach but he was right to get rid of Brandon Marshall.  Marshall has a screw loose. I am sure McDaniels saw the crazy side of Marshall and knew what would hit the fan eventually.

McDaniels had to get rid of Jay "The Quitter" Cuttler as well.  Jay Cutler has a million dollar arm and a 10 cent head.

Even as a Chargers fan I still feel sorry for Broncos organization.
