For his helmet-popping hit on Bengals QB Andy Dalton in the Lions first preseason game, Lions DT Ndamukong Suh has been fined $20,000. We think.

There’s been no official confirmation by the NFL, but judging by Suh’s Twitter update, it seems to be so.

Quoth the Suh: $20,000REALLY???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #NFL #BIGFAIL"

Though the hit didn’t appear dirty, the league will almost always come down on the side of protecting the quarterbacks, and since Suh has built a nice little history of playing not-nice with the league’s QBs, the fine isn’t a surprise. Maybe he hasn’t crossed a line yet, but he’s getting ever so much closer.

And his wallet is getting lighter.

Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

The people who defend Goodell and these fines could NEVER have played football. It's absurd. With Goodells logic, I should be able to fine my salespeople for causing me stress, and they should be able to fine me too! Stress is not healthy, so for all of our safety....fines should be implemented immediately! Unfortunately, it comes with the job....just like tackling in football!

Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

He plays like a jerk, it's pre-season.. DUH.. I am suprised Suh hasn't thrown his God card out there and I am sure he (GOD) wants him to pile drive the QB's into submission, lol.. Maybe he can top Pittsburg's Harrison for the most fines in a year.. Harrison has him beat though for the being stupid comments, sort of a weekly deal for these 2...
Gotta love the NFL, trying to inforce a pemalty in a violent sport.

Whis:  I am all for this fine, he wouldn't do any of this to his own QB, his coaches would kill him for killing Stafford.  You shouldn't do anything you wouldn't do to your own QB.

So you shouldn't intercept the ball or pick up a fumble?  Your commentary is absurd.  Try checkers.

LOL! Checkers is probably too rough for this idiot!

Suh will learn that he cannot grab qb's or any other player on the field by his helmet DELIBERATLELY when he gets a game or 2 off, which will be the next step, he did this same thing last year in the preseason, it's just plain stupid, he knew he had Dalton by the head and instead of letting go he twisted his helmet off and threw him to the ground, let him do that in the regular season to and Aaron Rogers or someone like that, not only will he get games off, he will likely get a blow out knee, O-line don't take kindly to that crap and will glady take a 15 to put him out for the year.  To the commenter who said "the roar is back"........no...it isn't, the Lions still suck.

Suh deserved to be fined for that hit.

He knew that Dalton had released the ball, then hit him neck high, then drove him to the ground.

For all of you people who say that Goodell is tyring to legislate physical play out of the NFL, you're wrong.  He's trying to stop malicious hits that can injure players.

Not the first time Suh has done this either.

It is always easy to pick out the people who haven't seen the video.  If that hit is dirty, then all hitting is dirty.  And you are right, this isn't the first time he has been fined for a legitimate hit.  Goodell has done this before.

Crap! Crap! Crap! Crap!

The NFL cronies lead by P.O.S. Goodell will ruin this league! The NFL is for men! Men who are paid millions and know the risks involved...These pansy suits care about nothing but money! Don't be fooled by the "safety of the game" mirage! Welcome to the Steelers world Suh, you know have a target on your back and a nice fat wallet for these fools to dip into. It's 2-hand touch for you and the Lions the rest of the season, sorry.

Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

Suh is just a beast! He plays with a mean streak and is paid to be an enforcer got the Lions DL. Gimme a break and let football be played the way it should. Guys like Butkus, Dick Lane, Jack Lambert would be thrown out of the league by today's NFL standards...as long as guys are not trying to ruin a players career by playing dirty, let these men play ball. James Harrison being fined for hitting too hard? JOKE!
