Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

For his helmet-popping hit on Bengals QB Andy Dalton in the Lions first preseason game, Lions DT Ndamukong Suh has been fined $20,000. We think.

There’s been no official confirmation by the NFL, but judging by Suh’s Twitter update, it seems to be so.

Quoth the Suh: $20,000REALLY???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #NFL #BIGFAIL"

Though the hit didn’t appear dirty, the league will almost always come down on the side of protecting the quarterbacks, and since Suh has built a nice little history of playing not-nice with the league’s QBs, the fine isn’t a surprise. Maybe he hasn’t crossed a line yet, but he’s getting ever so much closer.

And his wallet is getting lighter.

...this is a joke

These fines all seem so arbitrary players fined $x and the next $y.... Suh drew a questionable penalty on the field... ok, but a freggin fine???? for a tackle???? that wasn't even close to a nasty hit! Our NFL sadly seems to becoming more like a reality series focused on maximizing advertising venues, and less about sport ever since Goodell has taken over; If Goodell was trully an advocate of NFL football, the league would initiate a legitimate disaplinary board comprised of referee/coach/player/nfl representatives who would establish a proper standard of enforcement and penalty and offer an accepted appeals process.

If you don't want your QB getting manhandled, then get a better offensive line.

CB's are the one's who have the short end of the stick.  They get mugged and still can't touch the receiver.

all you guys crying about it need your balls checked. I also love how crybaby dalton immediately throws his arms up looking for the call. Why dont we just put the qbs in a red shirt and give them flags, get a grip.

I Love the Suh haters calling him dirty, even though most of you would love to have a man with the type of passion this guy has for the game! Quit crying and lets play some football. if the QB's are so soft that they can't take a hit then i believe football shouldn't be thier sport.  Pepper didn't get fined or suspended when Stafford was drove to the ground last season. So lighten up people its football.  I am excited to see the season and if suh is that hyped for preseason, man oh man watch for the real season to take place.

Like George Costanza's manhood after being in the pool, the NFL is quickly shrinking down to a laughable excuse of a "man's game".  We get it, NFL.  The players earn a lot of money and you want to protect your (the owners) investments.  Unfortunately, the true game is being ignored and/or forgotten.  This is supposed to be a tough game played by tough men.  It's not field hockey!  Players get hurt and yeah, maybe they are getting hurt at a higher percentage than years ago, but ask any of these guys about worrying or not wanting to play because of the injuries and they'll say "no".
;QBs are a dime a dozen - e.g. Cassel for Brady.  It's the offensive system and the team's talent that leads to success.

In my books, Suh, Harrison and the real men in the NFL can keep swinging weak unprotected QBs around adn taking them to the ground.  Football is about the survival of the fittest and pounding the other team into submission.  Let's keep it that way and make sure the coaches of our youth also keep it that way.  STOP THE WUSSIFICATION!!!

I am all for Defensive Linemen driving a QB into the ground.  That being said, as long as it is within the spirit of the game.  The clip I saw of him slamming Dalton was totally uncalled for.  Not only should they fine him but suspend him too.  We don't need undisciplined linemen taking Cheap shots just for fun.
