Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

For his helmet-popping hit on Bengals QB Andy Dalton in the Lions first preseason game, Lions DT Ndamukong Suh has been fined $20,000. We think.

There’s been no official confirmation by the NFL, but judging by Suh’s Twitter update, it seems to be so.

Quoth the Suh: $20,000REALLY???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #NFL #BIGFAIL"

Though the hit didn’t appear dirty, the league will almost always come down on the side of protecting the quarterbacks, and since Suh has built a nice little history of playing not-nice with the league’s QBs, the fine isn’t a surprise. Maybe he hasn’t crossed a line yet, but he’s getting ever so much closer.

And his wallet is getting lighter.

Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

ladka92 took the words right out of my mouth.  The D-Bag that calls herself Woodson's House is tinkling in her panties much like Aaron Rogers should be about Suh and the Lions D line.  Calling his hits cheap is just blatantly admitting that you are a straight up homer and are blinded by your allegance to the Packers.  It's a shame too because it's idiots like you who make the rest of your fellow fans look stupid.  There's a huge difference between cheap plays and over-aggressive plays.  Suh is guilty of being over aggressive no doubt but the guy is not cheap.  He's out to prove a point and to win games for a franchise that has been a bottom feeder for too long.  The guy is a leader and a worker.  The NFL is sucking the life out of the sport.  Too bad idiots like Woodson's House can't see it.  Dude, just shut your yap before you make yourself sound dumber.

Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

If Suh doesn't calm down with his hits on QB's,he'll be the new "poster-boy" for illegal hits and fines!

Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

I'm a Vikings fan and I think this is complete garbage. I saw nothing wrong with the hit. This is football, folks.

Nice job goodell. Your attempt to turn the nfl into nothing but fairies continues to work better. He puts little ballarina skirts on these qb's with all the protection rules, and then wonders what he can do to improve football. How about letting the players do their damn job and hit opposing players for starters.

Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

I'm a huge Packers fan, but even I believe that they need to let these guys play. Suh is a beast and too bad for Detroit the league keeps him in check...

Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

N Suh hopefully does not even get effected by this. 20k is 1/50 of what he makes per game This is the NFL not a flag football league.
Let these guys play. Not a dirty hit at all. Hes such a beast he hit him hard. I could see a penalty but not a fine.
Come on commish lets lighten up on the fines for just good hits. Lets be honest most people watch the game to see good hits. Lets not mistake good hard hitting and knocking someone on their a--  with a dirty hit.  Let em play!

Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

Suh is beast, just accept it and move on. There are some haters out there that are going to wish bad things on the guy, but hopefully he can play a full career to the best of his abilities, just like every other player in the league. I was watching the game when this "illegal" hit happened and Suh was right in doing what he did. First off, you as a fan and the officials are looking at this play from a 3rd person view. If you put yourself in Suh's shoes, it didn't  look to me like he ever thought Dalton threw the ball...so why not take him down. He was high on the QB and body slammed him. Secondly, I would think that it would be worse if I saw a guy on my team pull off the frantic QB in that situation. You always play to the whistle and he did that. Apparently you can get fined for that in the NFL!

not worried about Suh.  We sent the weakest link to the Cards.  I'm all about hard hits just don't be cheap about it.

Green Bay will walk away with it again this year so don't even bother watching the rest of your loser teams.

Suh apparently fined $20,000 for Dalton hit

Ah, how football has changed.  Used to be that defenses were flat out mean. To Woodson: Reggie White did PLENTY worse than the hit on Dalton.  He was allowed to. Because its FOOTBALL, not FUTBOL.  These fines have to stop. I love the James Harrisons and Suhs and Ed Reeds that actually intimidate the opposition by just crushing them.  If the poor little QBs need the commisioner to protect them in these situations, the game will slowly and surely become more and more of a patty-cake league.  The only unpunished big hits anymore are in hockey.  If you watch the hit on dalton he actually throws Dalton down by the shoulders, not the head.  Either way, a penalty was earned, but not a fine.  Fines should be held out for instances when they player is deliberately TRYING to hurt someone. Not just playing hard or too-hard. Furthermore-the fines shouldnt just be released.  Someone besides the commish should have to talk to these guys, hear them out, then decide on fines. Not just big ole jackass commish throwing a number out during the following week before the guy even knows its coming. I'd be ok with a better system of fining flagrant hits. Ya kno, where someone is actually RESPONSIBLE for this stuff rather than Goodell just making numbers fly out of his head and that being final.

Big guy and he will hit you violently.  Yes, but after the play is dead or not involved in the play is a different case.  Never saw Reggie do this stuff.  Charma will have him blow out a knee.

That's your only hope.  If not your qb in Greenbay is gonna have to tighten those laces and pray to God because Suh will be after him all game long.   And oh yeah, if you didn't see Reggie hit anybody right after a play was over you weren't watching.  The only difference is back then the NFL didn't stand for the National Fairies League and he didn't get punished for it.
