If you’re a Giants defensive player, it might be time to crawl into some sort of bomb shelter, because injuries after injuries after injuries are beginning to pile up for coach Tom Coughlin’s crew.

The latest setback came Tuesday when second-round defensive tackle Marvin Austin tore his left pectoral muscle. He will be lost for the season after he undergoes surgery, and it’s another blow to the rookie class (first-round pick Prince Amukamara won’t return for at least two months while he deals with a broken foot).

Plus, after losing Terrell Thomas for the season with an ACL tear in Monday night’s preseason game -- not to mention the loss of cornerback Brian Witherspoon after Monday’s game and cornerback Bruce Johnson -- the Giants will need to call in some replacements for the defense.

Coughlin was asked in his news conference Tuesday, via Rapid Reporter Alex Raskin, if he thought about moving Antrel Rolle from safety to cornerback, but he said he was reluctant to do that unless the move was permanent. For now, it doesn’t sound like it’s going to happen, even though Coughlin is well aware that Rolle used to play cornerback and even though Rolle said he’d be willing to do it.

Instead, Coughlin said he’ll count on Aaron Ross to fill the void.

“Aaron played well tonight, thank goodness,” Coughlin said after Monday’s game. But there’s also the possibility of other moves to help offset the loss Austin, Thomas and Witherspoon. Maybe even some trades?

Said Coughlin: “I’m sure we’ll consider it.”

Hey element334, are you 14yrs old? You know damn well who the cowboyz are. Since you're a bills fan you still have to beg at the feet of a dallas cowboys fan. You have no right whatsoever to trash talk anyone reping the star. Crawl back inside that hole of a franchise and continue your crying little boy.

So much hating from the Eagles fans. Wishing for a player from another team, t bheest defensive player om it's major rivalfrno less, to get injured is a stupid statement.  Weird comments from fans of a team that has never won a championship. If I were you, with the team that I have on paper, I'd want every team that I play to be at full strength. It's the only way it could legitimize anything that your team wins. At the same time it's the only way you'll feel okay with losing.

To Eagle fans- Of course you guys would make these comments AFTER all the injuries to the giants... Eagles Looked Horrible against the Steelers i would slow your roll...Eagles are good they`ll make it to the playoffs but they wont make it to the championships... An to answer the question about Eli... What would you expect him to say??? Im a average qb!?!?!? NO!!!! You want confidence in your qb... To me Michael Vick goes into the near-elite group and he aint getting any younger... Look at this preseason game against the Steelers for example Mike dont know if he should run or throw when the pressure is on him back in the day he would run and get about 70 yards and the td. Today he`ll throw the ball away... To me(my opinion) what made Michael vick elite was the fact that he wasent scared to run with the ball when there were no other options...Without the run hes just a lil above average qb...
