Michael Vick: take your place alongside Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Not so much for the consistency you've provided or for the championships you've won. But for the amount of money you make.

The National Football Post's Andrew Brandt is reporting that Vick and the Eagles have agreed to a six-year, $100 million contract, and ESPN's Adam Schefter writes that the deal includes about $40 million of guaranteed money.

Vick's Second Life
His deal, if you look at it from an average salary per year aspect, is less than Manning (five years, $90 million, $54.5 million guaranteed), but it’s comparable to Brady (five years, $78.5 million, $48.5 million guaranteed).* At the very least, it’s in that same stratosphere.

*To contrast, Kevin Kolb, who was ejected from Philadelphia by Vick, went to the Cardinals and got a $63 million deal with a $20 million guarantee.

Which is amazing considering where Vick was at this time two years ago: in prison for dog fighting and with a future that was extremely uncertain.

Now, as’s Mike Freeman writes, Vick is that much closer to redemption. But it’s also a somewhat-curious decision by the Eagles, aside from the report that the new deal lowered Vick’s cap number by about $2 million (Vick had been playing under the franchise tag).

Obviously, Vick’s talent level and athleticism are second to none, but you have to wonder about two aspects of his game: 1) Is he brittle? Last year, he showed that, yes, he is injury-prone when he decides to tuck the ball and run. Vick has a tough time playing the way a quarterback should play when he’s scrambling (namely, sliding feet-first and getting the hell out of danger at the first sign of it). That's a concern. 2) Vick's detractors point to his trouble in reading NFL defenses. Which is not what you want to see if you're paying $100 million to your quarterback.

I guess the big question is whether Vick was worth this kind of money. At this point, it’s impossible to know, but if I had to guess, I’d lean toward "probably not." Remember, the Falcons gave Vick a $100 million deal in an earlier life. It didn’t work out so well for them. Vick's a different person now, but he's older too. One year of playing football in his post-prison life might not be enough to know whether Vick deserves this much money.

Very classy Cutter9394. Remember your comment the next time someone close to you suffers a serious knee injury. Karma dude. It's bitch and you just set it in motion to curse one of your family/friends. I sincerely, sincerely, hope you don't have kids who play sports.

All you haters are probably the ones sitting in the first rows in church on Sundays who should be the last ones casting stones. Probably the ones who should be adding a few more dollars to the envelope too.  The man made a mistake, did his time, said he was sorry. What more do want from this guy? Karma's gonna hit you hater's like a two by four one day.

As a Cowboys fan, I love this move by philly, as long as they keep showering thugs and dirtbags with money, they will continue to fail. Alot of this money will go to pay off his debt's but he will have a good bit left too. Since he has had to live with nominal means for the last 2 years, now we will get to see the real mike vick. Dont forget to pay desean jackson too, he is the next classless moron waiting to get his.

The heading under the picture on the main page says he took the Eagles to the NFC title game in 2010.  Uh, wasn't that game Packers vs. Bears?  Vick hasn't won a playoff game since returning from prison has he?

But just because you make millions of dollars somehow dehumanizes you. So you mean to tell me because you work a job for a living that you probley hate and feel that you work hard enough that you can make mistakes and its ok because your a hard working citizan and other people who have a better life then you monitarly cant and should'nt F!@# up. Really?  Why because they can throw a ball or run and jump take hits do things that you cant do  so therefore that makes them superhuman or not human at all because I dont know any human that hasnt made multiple mistakes thats life its just that there life is on a stage but just because they play a sport or entertain doesnt make them invinsible to lifes problems. So before you keep up this "Im hatin cause another man makes more money then me and im to lazy or dumb to improve my own status" go in your own yard and cut your own grass before you start picking the weeds outta someone elses

Remarkably stupid move byt the Eagles. Vick is a good athlete, terrible QB, with a below average IQ. Kolb will be a pro-bowler in Arizona and Vick is bound to screw his life up again now that he's got a ton of cash. Good Luck Eagles fans, You'll need it with this moron.

Report: Vick signs 6-year, $100 million deal

I guess you could call the contract Eagles Michael Vick signed as high risk and high reward...if he stays healthy, then good for the Eagles. If he doesn't stay healthy, then the Eagles spent a whole lot of money for a six year bust, plus 40 million guaranteed. I can tell you Michael Vick is nowhere near as good as Tom Brady. The Patriots signal caller has a few SB rings, which Vick may never win. We'll see what happens, but so far, Vick hasn't proven a lot of consistency here.

This money is crazy - he's good but brittle, being I Philly fan I'm excited when he plays but agree with the others commenting on his worth - it been what? a year? Hope it works out for Vick, now lets get Jackson signed. ( another guy who is brittle )
