Chris Johnson tells 'fake Titans fans' to 'STFU'

Earlier on Wednesday, we brought you the story of the MRI that Arian Foster posted on Twitter. This drew some attention. But probably not as much attention as Chris Johnson's string of tweets on Wednesday afternoon that were directed at 'fake Titans fans.'

"Can these fake Titan fans STFU on my timeline I don't have a regular job so don't compare me to you and I can care less if uthink I'm greedy," Johnson tweeted.

For those not down with the hip language that the kids use, "STFU" is a non-too-friendly request for someone to "shut the [expletive] up. (The really cool kids, like me, have moved on to saying "Shut the front door!" but that's neither here nor there.)

If you're a real Titans fan and feel offended because of Johnson's tweets, you shouldn't. He still loves you.

"If you was a real fan my tweet would not bother you it only make the fake fans upset," Johnson added later, while also tweeting "Luv the real fans."

Chris Johnson's Holdout

Obviously, these tweets are related to Johnson's contract situation -- he's currently holding out for what I like to call "Manning money," and won't be satisfied until the Titans make him not just the highest-paid running back in the NFL, but one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

We've covered most of this ground already. If you want a primer on why Johnson shouldn't get paid the amount of money he wants from Tennessee, you should absolutely read my colleague Ryan Wilson's excellent breakdown on the situation.

It's also abundantly clear that the Titans can't/won't trade Johnson. And we know that Johnson isn't a great candidate to cave and just show up for work until the Titans actually satisfy his demands for more money.

But this latest social-media barrage is indicative of a guy who's extremely frustrated with his situation -- the Titans may eventually pay Johnson the amount of money he wants, but by flailing out at fans on Twitter, whether they be "real" or "fake," Johnson isn't doing himself any favors in terms of showing how calm he's taking the negotiating process.

CJ2k = ClownJ2k. He got set up by the Titans who long ago said publicly they were willing to make him the highest paid RB. You think turning that kind of money down will sour fans opinion you? Uhh yea. Does telling them to STFU make it worse? Of course. Way to play into their hands. Part of CJ's value is his fan appeal, and he just made himself less valuable. His career will be on the precipice of ruin if Ringer has a hot start in his stead.

Twitter, what an absolutely awful self-destructive concept. Yeah, let's just make it easier for every dumb thought or statement to get out into circulation. Any agent or friend worth a darn should strongly advise their clients not to use twitter.

If he is tweeting because of racist remarks then I understand why he is upset, but to do an Eric Dickerson and make it like he is more valuable than the rest of the world, let him watch a cancer operation, or brain surgery or someone die from putting out a fire and then he can say how he is more valuable. I know that a running back has a very short shelf life, but in that short shelf life he will make more money than some third world countries will be able to spend on food and medicine. I understand he had to struggle in collage(oops) to learn a rudimentry comprehension of the human language spoken in these parts and how tough it is not being able to take millions from boosters, but please don't alienate the people who pay your paycheck, because without these worthless people you would be the wipe guy at the carwash.

I agree.  These athletes need to stay away from Twitter.  Most come off as completely ignorant.  At least type your comment in an email, run spell check, send it to your mom, dad, friend, and ask them to proof the damn thing before you tell the world that you skated by grade school without ever getting a grasp on the English language.  Idiot.  STFU Johnson and play football.

"I commiserate with the Texans for having to deal with a fake RB for so many years."

lumpoco - got a news flash for ya - Johnson plays for the TITANS, not Texans.  Way to go, 'superstar'

I commiserate with the Texans for having to deal with a fake RB for so many years. Chris Johnson only cares about himself. He could care less about the fans who support the team and its players. Johnson should pipe down and let his kindess speak for him. Frank Gore just got a big contract and Gore did not say anything to upset fans and management. As I have said on previous posts..when a person uses profanity it shows the guy is grasping at straws and is one step closer to being a loose cannon. If Johnson was so great then how come he hasn't taken the team deep into the playoffs. I saw Matt Schaub dismantle the 49ers second and third string defense (last Saturday) so we know Schaub is a world class QB on the level of Manning and Brady, but then again the 49ers hanged tough last season with the Falcons, Saints, Colts and Patriots. Those teams did not blow out the 49ers.

I say cut Johnson right now. There are plenty of good quality RBs that will be available once the final cuts are made later this week. Plus, those guys will have the hunger to prove themselves in the NFL. Johnson only cares about getting paid...as if he is earning a paltry salary now.

He's got a valid point. There are way too many morons who jump on these boards saying stuff like "what? no way he should get that much money, that's insane, I'd play for 1/10 of that" newsflash: you probably work at Costco handing out samples, anyone can do that. He has a skillset that .001% of the population on this planet possess, that's why people tune in on Sundays and fork out the big bucks for tix and merchandise. Making dumb comparisons between an NFL player and yourself/your 9-5 just makes you look ignorant and foolish. There is no denying that he is grossly underpaid, I don't blame him one bit for wanting a hefty raise. If he got to the open market there would be teams lining up to pay him the big bucks, guaranteed. I also don't like people saying Tennessee is gonna suck with/without him so why bother. How about because he's the only thing worth watching on the Titans, even more reason to pay the man. The Titans got a deal for the past few years, he played while being big-time underpaid, stop being cheap and greedy and pay the man. Everyone else should just STFU

I find it hilarious that we even have sports writers and 'fantasy football' experts anymore. I mean c'mon guys, they get their information from the SAME source at the SAME time i do thanks to Twitter and Facebook. To top it off, it is not even responsible journalism since everyone seems to overlook the fact that CJ2K was lashing out at fans for racist comments directed at him. Who wouldn't lash out???

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that he sounds like he's less educated than a second grader?
