Chris Johnson tells 'fake Titans fans' to 'STFU'

Earlier on Wednesday, we brought you the story of the MRI that Arian Foster posted on Twitter. This drew some attention. But probably not as much attention as Chris Johnson's string of tweets on Wednesday afternoon that were directed at 'fake Titans fans.'

"Can these fake Titan fans STFU on my timeline I don't have a regular job so don't compare me to you and I can care less if uthink I'm greedy," Johnson tweeted.

For those not down with the hip language that the kids use, "STFU" is a non-too-friendly request for someone to "shut the [expletive] up. (The really cool kids, like me, have moved on to saying "Shut the front door!" but that's neither here nor there.)

If you're a real Titans fan and feel offended because of Johnson's tweets, you shouldn't. He still loves you.

"If you was a real fan my tweet would not bother you it only make the fake fans upset," Johnson added later, while also tweeting "Luv the real fans."

Chris Johnson's Holdout

Obviously, these tweets are related to Johnson's contract situation -- he's currently holding out for what I like to call "Manning money," and won't be satisfied until the Titans make him not just the highest-paid running back in the NFL, but one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

We've covered most of this ground already. If you want a primer on why Johnson shouldn't get paid the amount of money he wants from Tennessee, you should absolutely read my colleague Ryan Wilson's excellent breakdown on the situation.

It's also abundantly clear that the Titans can't/won't trade Johnson. And we know that Johnson isn't a great candidate to cave and just show up for work until the Titans actually satisfy his demands for more money.

But this latest social-media barrage is indicative of a guy who's extremely frustrated with his situation -- the Titans may eventually pay Johnson the amount of money he wants, but by flailing out at fans on Twitter, whether they be "real" or "fake," Johnson isn't doing himself any favors in terms of showing how calm he's taking the negotiating process.

thye real fake is johnson. just play a game. you are a entertainer who puts on a funny outfit and performs. You dont build anything, create anything, write anything. You dont protect our streets , put out fires, teach our children, protect our country. YOU DONT WORK PERIOD. You are fake as a human because you dont have any empathy and care only about yourself. So the insult is comparing yourself to people who have real jobs. So Johnson...STFU

hey CEESKI
; all collins did was get them in the playoffs two years ago.    chris johnson is a great running back.    you see how your vince young did.   collins was not a crappy player,  he just did what he always did since college,  WIN.   oh yea,  when the colts needed someone to maybe have to play a couple of weeks for peyton,   who did they call   ?????????????????   yea,  it was collins.    he is a drop back passer like peyton.  he is obviusly not as good as peyton but he could get a couple of wins for the colts  (i'm a patriots fan).   chris johnson did nothing last year.   tell him to holdout and take the year off.   in three years he will be gone maybe to jail heaven.   what an idiot he and his agent are.  he signed a contract so play or good luck in CANADA.

Greedy and has no class. It's one thing to be a greedy bastard, who puts his needs ahead of the team. A guy like that should realize that fans, true fans are not going to be happy about giving away their whole salary cap for a guy who holds out. Especially after he promised a record breaking season, and was really nothing more than an average running back. Personally i would hold on to him, and start docking the pay, i would make it so that he either played out the contract he signed or quit playing football. But is another to lash out at the fans, and to tell the to Shut the f up. That is beyond lowclass. I used to be a big fan of his, and i'm done. I'm done with him, and i'm done with Tennessee. They can just go 0-16 as far as i'm concerned.

I hope they give him a huge incentive based contrat with very little garunteed and he gets joe theismaned in the first  game! He doesn't deserve the right to play in the league! Someone should tell him theres thousands of RB's that are just as talented and fast just waiting to prove it! And they'll be happy to play for half of what he makes. He doesn't care if we think he's greedy just like we dont care if he ever plays again. Get it together cris, your not worth anymore than any other running back is getting.

Ok, I get that CJ feels that he deserves to be one of the highest paid player in the league. However,
A.) You are a running back, with two back schemes now the norm in the league there is not as much of a highlight on the No.1 HB
B.) The life span of a running back is not what it would be for a WR or QB, that's the cold harsh reality of it.
C.) You play for the Titans, they are not what they once were so naturally you will stand out as a star.
D.) The O line that gets you that first block deserve a raise too

Lashing out at the "fake" fans doesn't help anything, it just feeds the fire. The fans (fake or not) are for the most part living through some tough times. We don't have to spend what little money we have left after paying the bills on sports. We do it because we have a passion for it. As special as you think you are CJ (and you are a tremendous talent), you are replacable. Everone is not matter what. Sooner or later someone will take yor place. Be grateful for what you have. And tell your agent the same.

This is the problem with the NFL, you have 1 great year u can act like a god,  but i think alot of backs could have had a year like he did if they got the ball 70percent of the time and got the ball 100 percent of the time inside the 10 yd line. Wish the titans owners would tell him to STFU and finish his contract out, cause to me hes a fake employee who just wants to play when hes only making the most money..SO to you Chris Johnson STFU and god i hope he breaks his leg week one

First Arian Foster.  Now Chris Johnson...  Don't these guys realize that this game is supposed to be all about the fans?  Sure, get your money, I don't care.  Just don't alienate the people who are cheering for you.  This makes me appreciate guys like Jamaal Charles and Adrian Peterson that much more.  They put up big numbers, and keep their mouths shut.  Foster and Johnson could learn a couple lessons in humility and grace from guys like that.
