Chris Johnson tells 'fake Titans fans' to 'STFU'

Earlier on Wednesday, we brought you the story of the MRI that Arian Foster posted on Twitter. This drew some attention. But probably not as much attention as Chris Johnson's string of tweets on Wednesday afternoon that were directed at 'fake Titans fans.'

"Can these fake Titan fans STFU on my timeline I don't have a regular job so don't compare me to you and I can care less if uthink I'm greedy," Johnson tweeted.

For those not down with the hip language that the kids use, "STFU" is a non-too-friendly request for someone to "shut the [expletive] up. (The really cool kids, like me, have moved on to saying "Shut the front door!" but that's neither here nor there.)

If you're a real Titans fan and feel offended because of Johnson's tweets, you shouldn't. He still loves you.

"If you was a real fan my tweet would not bother you it only make the fake fans upset," Johnson added later, while also tweeting "Luv the real fans."

Chris Johnson's Holdout

Obviously, these tweets are related to Johnson's contract situation -- he's currently holding out for what I like to call "Manning money," and won't be satisfied until the Titans make him not just the highest-paid running back in the NFL, but one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

We've covered most of this ground already. If you want a primer on why Johnson shouldn't get paid the amount of money he wants from Tennessee, you should absolutely read my colleague Ryan Wilson's excellent breakdown on the situation.

It's also abundantly clear that the Titans can't/won't trade Johnson. And we know that Johnson isn't a great candidate to cave and just show up for work until the Titans actually satisfy his demands for more money.

But this latest social-media barrage is indicative of a guy who's extremely frustrated with his situation -- the Titans may eventually pay Johnson the amount of money he wants, but by flailing out at fans on Twitter, whether they be "real" or "fake," Johnson isn't doing himself any favors in terms of showing how calm he's taking the negotiating process.

the owners said blah blah blah.. If l tell u im giving u $1,000 2morrow that means nothing. now if l give u $1,000 that means everything. The owners said they did not want a lockout. they started the lockout by being greedy. but whos bitching about that.  you people act like its yr money. Honoring a contract means jack. more players under contract are cut than those under contract that are holding out. It is the last punch thrown that is noticed not the 1st. B 4 REAL>

Dear Chris Johnson

I pick 6th in my fantasy football pool this year.  get your ass back to work so that i can decide if I want to draft you or not.  your just a commodity to me.  I don't care if you make $950,000 or $30 Million this year.  All I know is that you run fast!

when will people realize that it is "I COULD NOT CARE LESS", or "I CAN'T CARE LESS" . In other words, it is impossible to care less than I currently care, which is zero. Go back to school CJ.

The Titans have offered to make CJ the highest paid running back in the league but he has turned it down because he wants Vick and Fitz money but what he doesn't understand or doesn't want to admit to his high ego is that the NFL is no longer a RB league,,it is a QB,WR driven league now and if anyone doesn't believe that then check out the LAST 8 Super Bowl winners because not one of them had a top 5 RB!! Peterson,Foster, Gore,Jackson and Mr. Johnson didnt even get their teams in the playoffs last year!!

Jamaal Charles ran for 6.4 yard per carry last year and signed a new contract for 6.5 miillion per year. So Chris Johnson with his great 4.3 yeards per carry should get a about 4.4 million per year. Except this guy has about twice the milleage on him as Charles, and about 100 times the ego. You can give the rock to almost any back in the league and get 4.3 per carry. His out of control ego is killing his game on the field as well as off, he won't take what's there, his greed won't allow him to, he is always looking for something bigger.

Why is it that people think that every black athlete would be in jail if not for sports? Yes there have been athletes who have participated in illegal activities, and yes some of them have been black, but there is a greater majority of players who have done no wrong than those who have. Why the racist animosity? It's demeaning to both them and you. Wake up, this isn't 1936 anymore. Jim Crow is gone, and these idiotic opinions should be too.

Lets se, Chris wants more money.  Ok we all want more money.  Only difference is now Chris wants to tell the people that make his paycheck possible by watching sports and buying sports stuff to STFU.  Way to go Chris.  No class and it appears no brains.  I get so tired of these guys wanting more money than people who really matter in life and make a difference.  I say any player that doesnt finish out a contract should be fired like they would be at most other jobs.  If you want to ask for a raise then ask but when the answer is no then shut up and do your job.  Especially people getting paid to play a kids game and live a dream that most people would want to live.  You make enough money now go to work.
