Chris Johnson tells 'fake Titans fans' to 'STFU'

Earlier on Wednesday, we brought you the story of the MRI that Arian Foster posted on Twitter. This drew some attention. But probably not as much attention as Chris Johnson's string of tweets on Wednesday afternoon that were directed at 'fake Titans fans.'

"Can these fake Titan fans STFU on my timeline I don't have a regular job so don't compare me to you and I can care less if uthink I'm greedy," Johnson tweeted.

For those not down with the hip language that the kids use, "STFU" is a non-too-friendly request for someone to "shut the [expletive] up. (The really cool kids, like me, have moved on to saying "Shut the front door!" but that's neither here nor there.)

If you're a real Titans fan and feel offended because of Johnson's tweets, you shouldn't. He still loves you.

"If you was a real fan my tweet would not bother you it only make the fake fans upset," Johnson added later, while also tweeting "Luv the real fans."

Chris Johnson's Holdout

Obviously, these tweets are related to Johnson's contract situation -- he's currently holding out for what I like to call "Manning money," and won't be satisfied until the Titans make him not just the highest-paid running back in the NFL, but one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

We've covered most of this ground already. If you want a primer on why Johnson shouldn't get paid the amount of money he wants from Tennessee, you should absolutely read my colleague Ryan Wilson's excellent breakdown on the situation.

It's also abundantly clear that the Titans can't/won't trade Johnson. And we know that Johnson isn't a great candidate to cave and just show up for work until the Titans actually satisfy his demands for more money.

But this latest social-media barrage is indicative of a guy who's extremely frustrated with his situation -- the Titans may eventually pay Johnson the amount of money he wants, but by flailing out at fans on Twitter, whether they be "real" or "fake," Johnson isn't doing himself any favors in terms of showing how calm he's taking the negotiating process.

Chris Johnson tells 'fake Titans fans' to 'STFU'

I've never been a fan of Chris Johnson.  With twitter and stupid comments like this, it helps me to dislike him even more.  He never showed up to camp, the team needs to stick to their guns and not negotiate until he shows up.  Frank Gore did the right thing and was rewarded.  Don't reward this guy for doing the wrong thing, it'll set a bad example for other village idiots.

It's not about greed, it's about honoring a contract. Why even have them? Play piecemeal. Then, when you run for 32 yards in a game, you pay back the team. Fumble? 50K fine. The sense of privilege heaped upon athletes from age 12 is astounding.

Here is your answer for what someone responded to your little misguided thinking.

They get their signing bonus and first years salary after that nothings ironclad. "Oh! what, you injured your knee and can't play again, sorry your cut".  Better for Chris Johnson to get his money now. Let's say you won the lottery but had to live for a year in Somalia before you could collect, you'll probably make it "PROBABLY" but do you really want to chance it?

The dude answered it perfectly, if you want players to honor contracts, you will have to start with the owners. Which is really not practical because in the NFL you have to cut someone to fulfill team needs if a player is injured or a team feels they dont need their services. Do you know what will happen with your logic. With people honoring their contracts in sports. You will have bunch of guys who are hurt and sitting on the bench, getting paid while they cant even sign anyone else. Do you think an owner will have Chris Johnson under contract to roster space if Chris Johnson was mileage was ending, and he got injured and out for the season?

I'm a real Titans' fan. I have been a fan since they were the Houston Oilers and I stuck with them through thick and thin. I sympathize for CJ2K a little, but at the same time I just want to see him back on the field helping the team improve and compete. I believe he should be paid big money, just not QB or LT type money. As a real Titans' fan I want what is best for the team, and that isn't overpaying a player. That is why I was happy to see Haynesworth leave after his monster year, because he was going to tie up too much cap space with his $100 million dollar demands, no matter how hard it would be to replace his talent. The thing I am most worried about is how the percentages start to swing in favor of injury the longer this holdout progresses. Too many players get hurt in years that they miss training camp or preseason, so I worry that CJ2K will get his big contract and then the Titans lose a year of it right away, thus getting no return on investment for one season. As a real Titans' fan, the longer this goes on, the more I start to side with team management. Sorry CJ2K, but you're losing fan faith the longer you drag this out, especially since there have been big money offers made. The only bright spot is that maybe Stafon Johnson makes the team now, which would be a feel good story after his two freak injuries.

Wouldn't it be nice if we all could walk into work and demand to be paid more then everyone else or threaten to sit at home and post garbage on twitter all day? Wonder how that would turn out? Pretty sure the end result would be YF (You're Fired) not STFU.

why? why? why worry about this man so much? mr. johnson is just exercising his rights. I'm sure he is not the 1st NFL player to hold out. V-jax did it last yr. He did not receive this much attention. I believe its because he is one of the top 3 RBs. Mr.johnson owes me nothing and I owe him nothing. The owners started all this with the LOCKOUT. I dont see anyone hating on the owners for that!!!!!!!

So please keep hating on chris and giving him this attention, it will only help his cause. lastly, in 5 yrs. he will be out of football and the owners will still be the winners. So next time u want to comment, lets make these owners accountable.

Wow, CJ - now basically the most hated person in Davidson County, TN.  Showing such displeasure towards the fans. He believes he is entitled to top QB or Larry Fitzgerald type money, but he is not. Yes, he deserves to be compensated, like DeAngelo Williams if not a little more.

But his demands for the total guaranteed money is outrageous, and I side with the Titans management.  However CJ needs to cool his jets or be prepared to sit for the entire 2011 season. No need to go all out with this type of display.  Shame on you CJ, what will your mother say ?

Thanks Sir.
