Chris Johnson tells 'fake Titans fans' to 'STFU'

Earlier on Wednesday, we brought you the story of the MRI that Arian Foster posted on Twitter. This drew some attention. But probably not as much attention as Chris Johnson's string of tweets on Wednesday afternoon that were directed at 'fake Titans fans.'

"Can these fake Titan fans STFU on my timeline I don't have a regular job so don't compare me to you and I can care less if uthink I'm greedy," Johnson tweeted.

For those not down with the hip language that the kids use, "STFU" is a non-too-friendly request for someone to "shut the [expletive] up. (The really cool kids, like me, have moved on to saying "Shut the front door!" but that's neither here nor there.)

If you're a real Titans fan and feel offended because of Johnson's tweets, you shouldn't. He still loves you.

"If you was a real fan my tweet would not bother you it only make the fake fans upset," Johnson added later, while also tweeting "Luv the real fans."

Chris Johnson's Holdout

Obviously, these tweets are related to Johnson's contract situation -- he's currently holding out for what I like to call "Manning money," and won't be satisfied until the Titans make him not just the highest-paid running back in the NFL, but one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

We've covered most of this ground already. If you want a primer on why Johnson shouldn't get paid the amount of money he wants from Tennessee, you should absolutely read my colleague Ryan Wilson's excellent breakdown on the situation.

It's also abundantly clear that the Titans can't/won't trade Johnson. And we know that Johnson isn't a great candidate to cave and just show up for work until the Titans actually satisfy his demands for more money.

But this latest social-media barrage is indicative of a guy who's extremely frustrated with his situation -- the Titans may eventually pay Johnson the amount of money he wants, but by flailing out at fans on Twitter, whether they be "real" or "fake," Johnson isn't doing himself any favors in terms of showing how calm he's taking the negotiating process.

I notice how you dumb farm boys dont have a problem with that pric Brett Farve holding out for more money.  I like how Javon Walker listened to his BS came back and got hurt.  I do not fault Chris Johnson.  Also, he should stick it to the Titans.  They grossly overpaid that loser Kerry Collins who is a know racist.  So they should pay him WETF he is asking for in reason because he is 100 times better than that punk Kerry.  I like how he threeatened to retire and they paid him too much.  At least Bud Adams will get a return on the jersey sales even if he overpays.  BTW, it is not chris Johnson's fault that him an Adrian Peterson are different than your normal running back and command more money.  Dont hate them..hate the system that ovepaid Collins, Dwight Freeney and other losers that drive the contracts up.  I know I am going to catch something for it, but you don't pay a guy 12-14 million a year and all he can do is rush the passer from the weakside.

I hope both sides continue to stand their ground and he holds out the entire season.  Then, if and when he eventually wises up, he'll someday realize that he wasted one year at the height of his career.  So, when Jake Locker is hitting his prime about 5 or 6 years from now, Chris Johnson will be a has-been that we talk about as a guy who once had a couple electrifying years, before he sat out one year, his productivity precipitously declined, and his career now is cirlcling the bowl.  I hope the stress gives you a heart attack, you greedy b$tch.

The NFL is a year to year league for, the players. They get their signing bonus and first years salary after that nothings ironclad. "Oh! what, you injured your knee and can't play again, sorry your cut".  Better for Chris Johnson to get his money now. Let's say you won the lottery but had to live for a year in Somalia before you could collect, you'll probably make it "PROBABLY" but do you really want to chance it?

It's not about greed, it's about honoring a contract. Why even have them? Play piecemeal. Then, when you run for 32 yards in a game, you pay back the team. Fumble? 50K fine. The sense of privilege heaped upon athletes from age 12 is astounding.

I'd be real sad if CJ had to get a "regular" job.  Poor him.  While I agree (it would be hard not to) that he is being underpaid at $800k/year, he is not deserving of the money that a Manning or Brady gets.  They have proven their worth over a decade of playing at the highest level possible every season and have each won multiple MVP awards.  Chris Johnson had one of the greatest (statistically speaking) single seasons for a running back ever, but it was just that a single season.  Take the Titans $12-13 Mil/year offer and you STFU, CJ.

I think Chris Johnson deserves to be paid more but he is being unrealistic.  The article by Ryan Wilson was excellent.

Please Titans do not pay Chris Johnson what he wants.  If they pay him what he wants it raises the bar for all runningbacks in the future.

Thank God he is not on the Raiders or Redskins because they would probably pay him what he wants which is way to much.

Look at the teams that have won the Super Bowl lately.  None of them had a star runningback. They all could run the ball enough to keep defenses honest but that was all.

The Titans are willing to make CJ the highest paid runningback ever and that is more than fair.

Yo Chris, "Shut The Front Door"!!!

Chris Johnson tells 'fake Titans fans' to 'STFU'

We created this monster... and by monster I mean phony idolatry of fake heroes who carry a football, kick a soccerball or hit a baseball. At least heroes of old fought in wars and stuff. Now everything is phony down to this clown "tweeting" (don't get me started on that) to his "fake" fans. What a goof. In the big picture there is a reckoning where that average American will no longer care about them, will enjoy watching football but might not care about the latest 15th jersey...

When will these guys realize that "real fans" cheer for the team and not the player. The "real fan" wants the best players on his team so that the team wins, not so that they are the highest paid player in the league. Real fans cheer for Chris Johnson to be the best in the league so that their team will benefit from it. Real fans cheer for WHOEVER is helping the team, and against whoever is hurting the team. On a similar note, a REAL TEAMMATE that cared about the team would do what's best for the team. A real teammate would put his differences aside and help his team out. Yes, Johnson has to look out for himself and get the money he deserves (less than what he's asking) but you can do that in a more team-friendly way. Johnson, take a look at Larry Fitzgerald...then I'll tell you that I respect him being a "real teammate" and to yourself, being a fake one to "STFU."
