Chris Johnson tells 'fake Titans fans' to 'STFU'

Earlier on Wednesday, we brought you the story of the MRI that Arian Foster posted on Twitter. This drew some attention. But probably not as much attention as Chris Johnson's string of tweets on Wednesday afternoon that were directed at 'fake Titans fans.'

"Can these fake Titan fans STFU on my timeline I don't have a regular job so don't compare me to you and I can care less if uthink I'm greedy," Johnson tweeted.

For those not down with the hip language that the kids use, "STFU" is a non-too-friendly request for someone to "shut the [expletive] up. (The really cool kids, like me, have moved on to saying "Shut the front door!" but that's neither here nor there.)

If you're a real Titans fan and feel offended because of Johnson's tweets, you shouldn't. He still loves you.

"If you was a real fan my tweet would not bother you it only make the fake fans upset," Johnson added later, while also tweeting "Luv the real fans."

Chris Johnson's Holdout

Obviously, these tweets are related to Johnson's contract situation -- he's currently holding out for what I like to call "Manning money," and won't be satisfied until the Titans make him not just the highest-paid running back in the NFL, but one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

We've covered most of this ground already. If you want a primer on why Johnson shouldn't get paid the amount of money he wants from Tennessee, you should absolutely read my colleague Ryan Wilson's excellent breakdown on the situation.

It's also abundantly clear that the Titans can't/won't trade Johnson. And we know that Johnson isn't a great candidate to cave and just show up for work until the Titans actually satisfy his demands for more money.

But this latest social-media barrage is indicative of a guy who's extremely frustrated with his situation -- the Titans may eventually pay Johnson the amount of money he wants, but by flailing out at fans on Twitter, whether they be "real" or "fake," Johnson isn't doing himself any favors in terms of showing how calm he's taking the negotiating process.

If he needs money so bad, he should sell his teeth.

Bob0913 you leave one small part of the story out. He came back for the exact same contract he wouldn't sign the year before and said to the media "I'm back and I'm broke!". The REdskins didn't cave and neither should the Titans though i agree with your advice. Chris just sit out and see how it plays out. Waste a year that counts toward FA status and hope for the best next year. And next year when you don't show up for work, maybe they will change their mind, or maybe you will agree to a trade to a team who thinks you are worth what you want. maybe Buffalo or Carolina, or maybe even Washington, but I doubt it.

Maybe in the future since the owners wont have to pay huge bonuses to rookies they can afford to give a few guys some more and stay under the cap, but it isn't going to be top QB money, and it shouldn't be. I get his point but he just doesn't understand that they can simply draft the next Johnson with a top 3 picj next year and let him rot or get a 1st round pick or two for him and be better off.

As for the "fake titan fans", I am pretty sure the ones that are mad are the real fans because they want what is best for their team. You see they are looking at the name on the front of the jersey. They don't need to be a fan of the name on the back to be a real fan of the team, and soon nobody, if there still is anybody, is going to be a fan of yours, real or otherwise.

"I don't have a regular job so don't compare me to you"

Good to see Chris Johnson is taking a page out of the ol' Lebron James PR book.  But of course, real Titans fans won't be offended obviously..

I would rather give more money to a running back than a wideout.

; John Riggins sat out a whole season and with noone to carry the load he was welcomed back. I suggest you sit out the season and if Javon Ringer can't fill the void, you would more than likely be welcomed back too. Of course I believe that Javon will have a very sucessful season. See you in 2012, maybe.

Titans don't pay QB money, to non QB.  See Haynesworth situation for details.  Teams should just trade these guys that don't want to play.
