Chris Johnson tells 'fake Titans fans' to 'STFU'

Earlier on Wednesday, we brought you the story of the MRI that Arian Foster posted on Twitter. This drew some attention. But probably not as much attention as Chris Johnson's string of tweets on Wednesday afternoon that were directed at 'fake Titans fans.'

"Can these fake Titan fans STFU on my timeline I don't have a regular job so don't compare me to you and I can care less if uthink I'm greedy," Johnson tweeted.

For those not down with the hip language that the kids use, "STFU" is a non-too-friendly request for someone to "shut the [expletive] up. (The really cool kids, like me, have moved on to saying "Shut the front door!" but that's neither here nor there.)

If you're a real Titans fan and feel offended because of Johnson's tweets, you shouldn't. He still loves you.

"If you was a real fan my tweet would not bother you it only make the fake fans upset," Johnson added later, while also tweeting "Luv the real fans."

Chris Johnson's Holdout

Obviously, these tweets are related to Johnson's contract situation -- he's currently holding out for what I like to call "Manning money," and won't be satisfied until the Titans make him not just the highest-paid running back in the NFL, but one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

We've covered most of this ground already. If you want a primer on why Johnson shouldn't get paid the amount of money he wants from Tennessee, you should absolutely read my colleague Ryan Wilson's excellent breakdown on the situation.

It's also abundantly clear that the Titans can't/won't trade Johnson. And we know that Johnson isn't a great candidate to cave and just show up for work until the Titans actually satisfy his demands for more money.

But this latest social-media barrage is indicative of a guy who's extremely frustrated with his situation -- the Titans may eventually pay Johnson the amount of money he wants, but by flailing out at fans on Twitter, whether they be "real" or "fake," Johnson isn't doing himself any favors in terms of showing how calm he's taking the negotiating process.

As dumb as this whole deal is, it's not all his fault.  I think you can blame the player, the league for letting salaries and holdouts get out of control, the organization for not coming up with their own social media rules.  The league need to look at a way to punish players for holding out.  If they hold out, then the team should be able to kick them out of the league.  Playing in the National Football League is a privilege and league needs to remember that.  If they kick a couple out of the league and don't let them back in, the players would get the point.  After they get a walmart job or high school coaching job, they will realize they can't hold out there either!

After he pulled the same thing last year he responded with one of his worst years ever. Dont get me wrong, the kids got talent.

Im sure Chris will spend his money wisely and invest the right way. Not. He will spend his money on hookers and blow,  then file bankruptcy two years after being removed from football.

A Typical nagger! Always nagging for more money!

one Barry Sanders was fast in the 40. 2. He did have a contract dispute at the end of his career.  3. Fans went crazy over Barry retiring saying he was selfish.  Fans are the most selfish people in the world.  How can you curse somebody for retiring? Cause people are selfish as hell. I see these people never really watched Chris Johnson either.

The Titans would be better off letting this guy sit.  When he had his best season rushing the football, his runs did not lead to wins.  The Titans have too many issues to give this much attention to Johnson.

I agree with johnson there are a lot of fake fans out there, on two fronts. First of all trying to compare a football players salary to the everyday joes' salary is foolish. I don't mind him holding out getting all he can. They tell you a running backs career is less than 5 years so get what you can. Hell the mans' health is on the line everytime he touches the ball, gets hit, and a couple of 300 pounders are layin on ya. Some football players, especially running backs and lineman, have severe medical problems after their careers are over and lots of medical expenses that eat through the money they made playin. Not too many of us regular joes have that problem on our jobs, i don't recall any salesman or restaurant servers getting broken legs or or concussions from their jobs taking hits. Second thing i'm a season ticket holder, 2 rows from the field in the north endzone. It pisses me off to see one of my other fellow season ticket holders that root for the titans except when one of their other favorite teams comes. Don't get me wrong it's a free country, i get that, but it bothers me that the same person that was wearing the colors the week before against the jags with the face paint and all, hoping we win to get division supremecy, can turn around the next week and wear their #18 colts jersey and be chastising the fans he was cheering with the week before, WTF. And believe me that happens a lot here. You would think after 14 years fans would have a true alligence to the home team. And as for the braided/gold tooth thug comments, sounds like a lot of prejudice to me. Do we call a bald/tatooed white player a Klansman? Just sayinWink

Is this guy really that good anyway?  Barry Sanders I think not.  He has great talent, but bust attitude.  You can't market that to the majority of fans these days.  Yes he should be paid more.  But RB's are easily replaced and you can win a ton of superbowls without a star RB (see Patriots, Giants, Colts, Saints, Packers, pretty much every team since Circa 1999).

So Platinum Teeth:  your deal should be no more than 8-10 mil a year.
