Chris Johnson tells 'fake Titans fans' to 'STFU'

Earlier on Wednesday, we brought you the story of the MRI that Arian Foster posted on Twitter. This drew some attention. But probably not as much attention as Chris Johnson's string of tweets on Wednesday afternoon that were directed at 'fake Titans fans.'

"Can these fake Titan fans STFU on my timeline I don't have a regular job so don't compare me to you and I can care less if uthink I'm greedy," Johnson tweeted.

For those not down with the hip language that the kids use, "STFU" is a non-too-friendly request for someone to "shut the [expletive] up. (The really cool kids, like me, have moved on to saying "Shut the front door!" but that's neither here nor there.)

If you're a real Titans fan and feel offended because of Johnson's tweets, you shouldn't. He still loves you.

"If you was a real fan my tweet would not bother you it only make the fake fans upset," Johnson added later, while also tweeting "Luv the real fans."

Chris Johnson's Holdout

Obviously, these tweets are related to Johnson's contract situation -- he's currently holding out for what I like to call "Manning money," and won't be satisfied until the Titans make him not just the highest-paid running back in the NFL, but one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

We've covered most of this ground already. If you want a primer on why Johnson shouldn't get paid the amount of money he wants from Tennessee, you should absolutely read my colleague Ryan Wilson's excellent breakdown on the situation.

It's also abundantly clear that the Titans can't/won't trade Johnson. And we know that Johnson isn't a great candidate to cave and just show up for work until the Titans actually satisfy his demands for more money.

But this latest social-media barrage is indicative of a guy who's extremely frustrated with his situation -- the Titans may eventually pay Johnson the amount of money he wants, but by flailing out at fans on Twitter, whether they be "real" or "fake," Johnson isn't doing himself any favors in terms of showing how calm he's taking the negotiating process.

Most of the people, I can bet, make less than $50K per year who are posting on here. Why would any of you want to deny CJ2K to make top dollar in the NFL? He deserves every penny. Don't worry about the Titans and their owner, he's making plenty of money. I'd like to see what would most people would do in CJ2K's position. You don't have to like him, but he's got a talent, and the Titans and the NFL have no problem exploiting it. Once he's done, they'll be thinking about the next Chris Johnson.

So is Johnson going to be fined for that...? He used inappropriate language directed at fans. Whether it was an acronym or not he just told people via mass media to shut the f--- up. I better see some kind of disciplinary action for this. I remember when football was a game of men that were gentlemen off the field and babaric blood-thirsty beasts on the field. If Suh is going to be fined for "welcoming" a rookie QB to the NFL in a preseason game then CJ better get fined for cussing at fans publicly/nationally. Am I right?

Is any player really worth what he wants?  The answer is no, but yet I had a friend die in Iraq for $1500 a month and I didn't see him holding out just days before he was sent over there.  Maybe I'm just the only one who gets it.

this is getting ridiculous.  it's crazy of CJ to think he's getting/deserves 18mil/yr for 5 yrs or more.  it's just as crazy to think you(the titans) can get away with paying CJ 800K/yr.  some kickers make more than that for pete's sake.  hopefully some middle ground will be reached here soon cause i love watching this guy play. what does AP make?  something around there would be fair.  right?

I just dont get these guys ...will they ever learn : Mendenhall, Harrison, Foster...now Johnson. Dont you realize that you are playing a sport and yet physical it would be a dream for most people to make millions to play a sport for less then 10 years and then retire. Why must you keep putting your oh so self righteous foots in your mouths. Stop tweeting and giving interviews that show how uneducated and immature you are, throwing the race card out every time something doesnt work out for you, and making it seem like you are better then normal everyday person. Do you still not realize without everyday people you would not be rich. Lastly Chris...you are not as valuable as Manning, Brady, Aaron Rodgers and it has been proven that backs are a dime a dozen thats why they dont make as much as they used to and are now later round picks.

CJ....don't worry about the "fake fans/haters"....they are EVERYWHERE!!!  The fat/couch potatoe football fan who has an opinion about everything and hates on someone who made something special out of their life.
