Chris Johnson tells 'fake Titans fans' to 'STFU'

Earlier on Wednesday, we brought you the story of the MRI that Arian Foster posted on Twitter. This drew some attention. But probably not as much attention as Chris Johnson's string of tweets on Wednesday afternoon that were directed at 'fake Titans fans.'

"Can these fake Titan fans STFU on my timeline I don't have a regular job so don't compare me to you and I can care less if uthink I'm greedy," Johnson tweeted.

For those not down with the hip language that the kids use, "STFU" is a non-too-friendly request for someone to "shut the [expletive] up. (The really cool kids, like me, have moved on to saying "Shut the front door!" but that's neither here nor there.)

If you're a real Titans fan and feel offended because of Johnson's tweets, you shouldn't. He still loves you.

"If you was a real fan my tweet would not bother you it only make the fake fans upset," Johnson added later, while also tweeting "Luv the real fans."

Chris Johnson's Holdout

Obviously, these tweets are related to Johnson's contract situation -- he's currently holding out for what I like to call "Manning money," and won't be satisfied until the Titans make him not just the highest-paid running back in the NFL, but one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

We've covered most of this ground already. If you want a primer on why Johnson shouldn't get paid the amount of money he wants from Tennessee, you should absolutely read my colleague Ryan Wilson's excellent breakdown on the situation.

It's also abundantly clear that the Titans can't/won't trade Johnson. And we know that Johnson isn't a great candidate to cave and just show up for work until the Titans actually satisfy his demands for more money.

But this latest social-media barrage is indicative of a guy who's extremely frustrated with his situation -- the Titans may eventually pay Johnson the amount of money he wants, but by flailing out at fans on Twitter, whether they be "real" or "fake," Johnson isn't doing himself any favors in terms of showing how calm he's taking the negotiating process.

the titans we're willing to pay him top running back money.  its not like they're being unreasonable.  he's the one who wants manning/brady money and they would be insane to pay him that much

Is this guy that big of a moron?!?! Manning has been in the league for 13 years or so.

Completely hear what you're saying BUT the life of a RB is far shorter than that of a QB(usually).  This is probably his only real chance to get paid and who can blame him as there are lot's of other RB's not nearly as good as him getting paid WAY more.  I don't agree with his methods but the dude deserves to get paid at least something reasonable IMO.

I would trade this clown.  Let someone else pay him.  I'm on the Titans side on this.  Let him sit the whole season, he's only hurting himself.

Is this guy that big of a moron?!?! Manning has been in the league for 13 years or so. This is Fitzgerald's 8th year. These guys are proven playmakers who stand the test of time year after year. It's too bad that 90% of RBs cannot take the pounding for more than 5 or 6 years anymore...but that's just the way it is. Make what money you can and then live comfortably the rest of your life.

Or learn to play WR. Or QB.

This guy's got not one but TWO more years on his deal. He can sit out this whole year and guess what? He's STILL got two more years left on his deal. And if I were the Titans, that's exactly what I'd tell this schmuck. See ya next year.

That is some really nice sounding language, there 28.  I mean, "If you was a real fan..." and "it only make the fakes fans upset.."  That is awesome.

Are there any real Titans fans?  If it were not for fantasy football, nobody would even care about CJ or the Titans.

I'll actually agree with you, when it does come to the black athletes, they always question "why would he get that much," "what if," "are you sure," "maybe this isn't right" and etc,. I tell ya it's true about Brady, and Eli in which I don't like and I am a Giants fan.

Weird, I don't remember everyone saying that about Michael Vicks contract and it was 100 million.  The problem is, like so many people said, you can't spend that kind of money on a running back.  The aveage life span is 3-4 years and the drop off in production occurs quicker for a running back then any other position.  While some backs will perform at a high level for years, it is very rare and not worht the money or risk typically.

Wow  I really feel bad for you that you have so much hatred for white people. Very sad, and please get over the slavery thing. There have been many races in this world that have been slaves and not just blacks.  I'm sure that you have had the same opportunities in your life that I have and never have been told to sit in the back of the bus.  So get over yourself and the race card I for one am sick of hearing about it

Does this guy understand how ignorant he sounds? If you thought that your worth was more, why sign for what your original contract stated. At least he can use his ECU degree if Football doesn't work out!Money mouth

Really feel bad for all the Titan fans to have to have a guy like this on your team, what a complete and utter A-hole this guy is.  Doesn't he realize what a priviledge it is to play in the NFL and how very few guys make it let alone make the kind of money that he already makes and he wants more of it?  For him to tell fans that who he doesn't have a regular job and he doesn't care, well guess what Chirs in this economy a lot of normal people in this county don't have regular jobs either.  This CHILD because that is what he is with these kind of outburts like that doesn't deserve anything at all.  I would love to see how he would feel trying to feed his family while on unemployement because you can't find a regular job.  Titans if you were smart you would cut your ties with this idiot and move on to someone who can show a little dignity and respect to the people that PAY for his job.
