Agent says Tiki Barber 'has moved forward'

On Monday, Sports Illustrated's Peter King wrote that Tiki Barber and his agent, Mark Lepselter, were "flabbergasted" that none of the 32 NFL teams had use for the 36-year-old former running back who last played in 2006. King added, "I hear he’s devastated that no team gave him a chance."

The response -- from both fans and media -- was the same: no organization, no matter how desperate, needed a guy closer to 40 than 30, four years removed from his last meaningful snap, and worse: not considered much of a teammate. (On the upside: it was the first time in internet history that writers and commenters were in agreement on, well, anything. Tiki Barber: bringing the world together.)

Paul Schwartz of the New York Post spoke with Lepselter, whose story differs from King's retelling of it.

“That is not correct,’’ he told the Post Sunday. “I never said he was devastated. That term never came out of my mouth.’’

Does that mean the word "flabbergasted" did? Because it conveys the same message -- that somehow, two people on this planet couldn't conceive of a scenario in which Tiki wasn't welcomed with open arms back into the league four years after leaving it to pursue a television career. Plus, as PFT.com's Michael David Smith points out, "King never attributed the word 'devastated' to Lepselter — that was King’s word, based on how he has heard Barber is feeling. (Barber is free to clear it up and tell everyone how he’s feeling, but he isn’t talking to anyone right now.)"

And it appears Barber won't be talking anytime soon, either.

“This is the last time I am speaking on this subject in any way, shape or form." Lepselter continued. “You can’t worry about the things in life you can’t control and Tiki has moved forward accordingly."

So there you have it. Barber and Lepselter are moving on. For how long depends on if an NFL team needs running back depth at some point in the coming weeks and months. The Dolphins were the only team to give Barber a workout and that was in August.

CBSSports.com's Michael Freeman heard from general manager whose team needs running backs that Barber wasn't in his plans because, simply, "I don't trust him. That's pretty much it."

We'll say it again: there's always the UFL.

Agent says Tiki Barber 'has moved forward'

Some bar in Mn:

Childress: So nobody wanted you?

Tiki: I'm flabbergasted, Brett had a 2nd and 3rd chance.

Childress: I knew Brett Farve, I coached Brett Farve, and let me tell you, Tiki, you are no Brett Farve.

Tiki:  Screw you looser.  You suck just like that Superbowl wining x-coach of mine.

Tiki:  If I kept playing I could have had a ring despite playing for a crappy coach and with crappy teammates.  And as bad as Caughlin is, your not half the coach he is.

Childress:  and you wounder why nobody wants you

Tiki:  Do you know anyone that will hang with me

Childress:  Try Moss, he hates everything not New England

It doesn't really matter the person Tiki is.  It matters that he can't play.

The idea of cheating on his wife....although wrong has nothing to do with it.

The fact he is a jerk has nothing to do with it.

The fact he spoke badly about his team; has nothing to do with it.

Guys that can't play; don't get signed.

Vick did far horrible acts and he is playing...heck, he just signed a huge contract.

Guys like Lewis can murder someone and play.

Guys like Ben can cheat and apparently forcibly; and they still play.

Guys like TO can blast all former players and he still plays.

Heck, Pats may sign Moss after blasting them cause he can play.

Burress would have been welcomed by Giants and he played when he wanted to and blasted MANY....but he hates Couglin so signed with Jets.

Character has zero to do with decision making.

NFL is all about money...if you can play, you will.

Tiki can't play.  And even if he could talent wise or physically; he might not anyhow.

So when you watch NFL, expect to watch a good game of talented players.  There are few models in any professional sports.  When will folks get it...  Role model in sports is about talent and motivation...not morals.  It never was.

Now course there are exceptions....but the sport was meant for entertainment; not church.

Agent says Tiki Barber 'has moved forward'

Tiki Barber couldn't wait to retire.  In fact Tiki wanted to retire so badly that he announced his retirement during the beginning of a season.  Who does that?  People who think the grass is greener elsewhere.....thats who.  He burned bridges on the way out the door because he just knew his ticket was punched in broadcasting.  Funny thing happened on the way to career #2 tho.  He got caught cheating on his pregnant wife.  Imagine if you will....your daughter is about to have a baby...and suddenly she calls you and tells you that her husband and father of the soon to be born baby has been lying and cheating behind her back during the pregnancy.  How low of a person does one have to be to put themselves into that scenario?  Tiki is the lowest of the low.  I just don't mean character wise either.  This is a person who has bad mouthed his qb...his coach...etc.  Sure everyone makes mistakes but this is a person that should truly be ashamed of himself.  The lowest of the low Mr. Tiki Barber

Tiki thought he was bigger than the team when he left them for a broadcasting job. He wasn't.

Tiki thought he was beyond reproach when he cheated on his wife. He wasn't.

Tiki thought he could disrespect his former players and it wouldn't come back to haunt him. It did.

Tiki thought he was good enough to play RB in the NFL at age 36. He's not.

I'm sure the dude is in great pain, and I have some sympathy for anyone who is tortured by their mistakes. But these are multiple self-inflicted wounds without any sign of learning any lessons. Until he comes out and is truly remorseful for his selfish actions, nobody wil give him the time of day.

I love it when cocky guys like this think they ahve it all figured out produce an epic fail.
- Quit while he's playing well. (Totally ok. Some guys hang on too long. Going out on top is a good thing)
- Has it all figured out = New career in television. Flop
- Bash former teammates. Flop
- Tries to get back into football. No one wants him. Epic flop and pathetic to boot.
- Act shocked that no one wants a has been jerk off to even try out for their team. flop.
I can't wait to see him on Celebrity Rehab.
