The Manning streak is dead. Long live the Manning streak. Well, Eli Manning's streak anyway. Because Peyton Manning's streak is officially over, as Bill Polian informed the public that the Colts have ruled their franchise quarterback out for Sunday's game against the Texans, ending his consecutive games started streak at 227.

"To say I am disappointed in not being able to play is an understatement," Manning said in a statement released by the team. "The best part about football is being out there on the field with my teammates.  It will be tough not to be out there playing for the organization and our fans.  I simply am not healthy enough to play, and I am doing everything I can to get my health back.

"The team will do fine without me, and I know for sure that I will miss them much more than they will miss me.”

Peyton has been the talk of the NFL for more than a week now, as rumors of additional neck surgery swirled.

The chatter peaked when the Colts listed Manning as "doubtful" to play against the Texans on Sunday and now it's official that Manning's consecutive-start streak will end.

It seems improbable that Manning would miss the game because he hasn't missed a start since early in his college career, but it's also indicative of just how serious this injury is -- if Peyton isn't taking snaps from Jeff Saturday come Week 1, you best believe that he's dealing with a highly problematic injury.

Kerry Collins, who the Colts added in the offseason, will start for Indianapolis.

Peyton Manning officially ruled out for Sunday

I think that Record is the Least of Peyton's Worries. It will be the ONLY ALL-TIME Passing Record, that he doesn't hold, when his Career is over,as Long as this injury isn't Career Threatening! :) He's The Greatest QB of ALL-TIME,and don't count the Colts out in the Future,if Peyton is Healthy!!! :) Smile

As far as the Patriots, they haven't Won a Super Bowl since 2005 either,so I wouldn't say that they are better than the Colts, which are my 2nd Favorite Team, since they Drafted Peyton Manning.

The Steelers, which are my Favorite Team Have been to THREE SUPER BOWLS,since the Patriots, have Last been in a Super Bowl in 2005,so they are the Team you have to go thru to Win the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP!!! :) Smile

Peyton Manning officially ruled out for Sunday

1.  'Real men' don't hit women, wife or otherwise.  That's what insecure pansies do.  Or 14-year-olds who watch too many movies about the mafia in the 1920's.
2.  Your 'Caps Lock' key is approximately 1/16th of an inch to the left of the letter "A" on your keyboard.  Please press it one time.
3.  Since you live in Nevada, I'm going to go ahead and disown you as a Colts fan, on behalf of all Colts fans here in Indy.  You are now free to go root for some Arena League team that I've never heard of.

Thanks for trolling though.

Peyton Manning officially ruled out for season???

Report: Manning could miss season: WDNE-AM in Indianapolis is reporting that Colts QB has undergone another surgical procedure on his neck and is in danger of missing the season. This is the second radio report from Indianapolis in less than a week that has suggested that Manning will not play in 2011. Manning has been ruled out for Week 1 at Houston already as he has not rehabbed quickly enough from neck surgery in May. "It will be tough not to be out there playing for the organization and our fans," Manning said regarding missing Week 1, per ESPN. "I simply am not healthy enough to play."

Welp, that's good news for the AFC South.

Peyton Manning officially ruled out for Sunday

I work in the newspaper business so I know all about rumors and how they can be spread.  A friend of mine in the business and said that Peyton may need additional surgery.  That was a month ago!  He was shocked that the Colts gave him an extension for such a large amount of money.  He thinks that they must have an insurance policy for the time that he misses.  It's too bad everybody picks on him because I'd rather see him play than see him sit.  But I'm sure any NFL would disagree with me because they know how great he is.  Well hopefully we get to Peyton again but it's loooking like we'll never see the Peyton of old.  Hope you got to enjoy seeing him play in his prime.  It's just a matter of time before he'll be retired.  Kerry Collins retired this year and came in late so he can't possibly know the playbook that well.  It looks like a long season in Indy.
