Arian Foster practices, starting is 'the plan'

Arian Foster missed Week 1's game against Indianapolis, but the Texans running game didn't miss a beat -- Ben Tate piled up over a 100 yards and both he and Derrick Ward found the end zone.

But that doesn't mean Houston doesn't want Foster to get back sooner rather than later, and it's therefore quite good news that he returned to the practice field Wednesday.

"Arian practiced today. Arian took a normal Wednesday load for a starter," coach Gary Kubiak said. "I guess the key probably is how he comes out of practice tomorrow. Does he feel good? But everything was positive today at practice, so we’ll see."

Of course, we went through this all last week with Kubiak, who listed Foster as day-to-day and didn't officially rule him out until Sunday morning. Foster offered more encouraging words this time around. Kind of.

"It felt good," Foster said of his hamstring. "It was pretty fluid, but you got to ease along hamstring injuries, like I’ve been saying, so I’m just going to take it day-by-day and see how it feels.

"[Staring Sunday's game] is the plan, but you never know with hamstring injuries. They’re tricky. Sometimes they’ll sneak up on you."

Cue up the legions of frustrated fantasy owners screaming; or just going after Foster on Twitter to find out about his health.

It might not be necessary, though, because if Foster's practicing on a Wednesday -- he wasn't practicing last Friday, mind you -- he seems like a safe bet to get a start this week.

However, the Texans are firmly aware of how wide open the AFC South is (don't let them tell you otherwise), and if they don't think Foster is back to 100 percent by Sunday, don't be surprised to see him sit again.

The only reason to have Tate is as a handcuff to Foster. He has the more upside, and is the back to have as the handcuff. And like others have already said, wishing someone to get hurt is VERY bad karma! Wish him to play poorly, have turnovers, but NEVER wish injury on a player! It will come back to haunt you!

Note:  OB1Bud2, wise words my friend.  My father told me to never let my dogma get run over by my Karma.  With regards to Arian Foster, please take a seat, remove the superman cape, don the Clark Kent outfit for another week, and trust in your teammates if the coach will support that.  The injury you are nursing can be a short term problem or a career ending bomb.  Your fantastic effort and superb ability is not lost on the true fans of the GAME, and not the wanna be's (fantasy players).  I would like nothing more than to watch you and the rest of our gang in 2015, trying for that third Super Bowl ring, to go with the two you will receive over the next four years.  The true fan, loves the game, and cares about the men who leave their blood on the field of battle.

I was going to go off on the sockhumper, Tom. But I saw that he is a Philly fan, so there is nothing I can say that is worse than that.

TomAngelripper, you obviously are an idiot.  Hoping for Foster to get injured.  His is already injured you dumb _ _ _.  Secondly, D Ward is the starter if Foster is out. Just as he was last week.  The Texans put Tate in the game last week because he is third string and with the game in hand they wanted to get him some work.  Foster will be back and you can bet when he comes back he will be there for the rest of the season.  My advise to you is to try and trade Tate now to some other loser in your fantasy league and try to improve your team that way.  Because it is obvious that your team sucks if you are hoping that a third stringer is going to help you.

One other piece of advise, don't wish bad things on other people unless you want bad things to happen to you.  Karma can be very ugly sometimes.
