Mark Sanchez will play despite broken nose

M. Sanchez broke his nose against Oakland, but he won't miss any time (US Presswire).Posted by Josh Katzowitz

While it’s not exactly on par with Tony Romo possibly playing tonight with an injured lung and ribs that require the use of a flak jacket made of Kevlar, Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will continue to play even though he suffered a slightly broken nose Sunday.

The team announced that bit of news Monday (via the Newark Star Ledger), and the Jets said that he won’t have any limitations and that he’ll wear a clear shield across his helmet to protect his schnozz (you really can’t tell by the photo on the right that his nose was broken, though there is clearly a red mark under his right eye).

"He took a shot in the face," coach Rex Ryan said following New York’s loss to the Raiders. "It wasn’t called, so it must have been in the shoulder."

The good news, though, is that he won’t have to wear any kind of body armor to keep him on the field.

In other Jets injury news, cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who needed help getting to the locker room late in the game, has bruised ribs and a bruised lung. Tight end Jeff Cumberland tore his Achilles tendon and will miss the rest of the season.

Mark Sanchez will play despite broken nose

Jets just played a horrible game all around. Sanchez needs to learn how to throw the ball out of bounds, the playcalling was gross, the officials hate Cromartie for whatever reason. The Jets ALWAYS play down to their opponents. But let be real here its the NFL and any team can win on any given Sunday. No Jet fan is sweating to the Raiders in week 3 of the season, it happens. Jets are still better than 80% of the league right now.

YOU JUST PROVE HOW HILLBILLY YOU ARE AM I IRISH OR A GUIDO.EITHER IS BETTER THAN BEING A REDNECK
Somehow, with your terrible grammar and awful syntax, you have proved that being a redneck is favorable to either Irish or Guido. By the way, Louisville is better known for being in Kentucky, not Tennessee, captain geography. Isn't Guido just a synonym for Urban Redneck? Settle down and go play some pool, Jersey Cowboy. Then take your winnings and go buy yourself a nice semi-nude spread of Sanchez to crank the night away.

1977 Yankees

So you are Brian8ballsintheface!  You are exposed! I will believe you are a professional "Pocket Pool" player. Probably one of the best Pocket Pool players in your hometown. Don't make fun of my screen name. Montweet happens to be the name of a honorable nobleman from the 16th century who was an expert in strategy, tactics and sports. Montweet loved professional football and he wasn't confined to the grounds of a psychiatric hospital. (Unlike a certain professional pocket pool player who will remain unnamed). MaryJane "Mark" Sanchez has a boo-boo on his nose and Rex Ryan is upset, boo-hoo! Mr. Ryan should stop with his foolish pronouncements of Super Bowl victories, at least until the Jets win something.

C'mon Rex...I like what you've done with the Jets, and I find you entertaining...but don't start whining that the game was too rough for your pretty boy QB....You're the last coach I'd expect to hear that from.

I haven't been this upset since Marcia Brady took a football to the nose.

Hopefully he's ok, I look forward to more male modeling.
