After some rather unfortunate remarks about Barack Obama, John Boehner and Hitler, ESPN yanked Hank Williams Jr.’s iconic Monday Night Football intro on Monday, and for now, we don’t know what kind of future Williams’ music has on MNF.

And after releasing a somewhat-stubborn statement Monday evening that said he was just trying to make a point, he’s released another less-stubborn statement saying, well, maybe he shouldn’t have said it in the first place.

From Williams’ web site: “I have always been very passionate about Politics and Sports and this time it got the Best or Worst of me. The thought of the Leaders of both Parties Jukin and High Fiven on a Golf course, while so many Families are Struggling to get by simply made me Boil over and make a Dumb statement and I am very Sorry if it Offended anyone. I would like to Thank all my supporters. This was Not written by some Publicist.”

This was a little more conciliatory than his previous statement when he intimated that he couldn’t understand why people who have differing views could ever play golf together. Then, he compared Obama and Boehner playing golf together to Hitler and Benjamin Netanyahu hitting the links together.

ESPN had no comment on whether Williams' song would be used on future telecasts.

In case you haven’t seen it, here’s where all the controversy started.

Hank Williams Jr. releases another statement

How many of you actually watched this video...
The 3 idiots from Fox start off talking down to
Hank Williams Jr.... He in turn tried to make a mockery
of the interview... Again since this country was formed
we'd say "I may not agree with what u said but as an
american u have the right to express ....
Sometimes if a group of people bend over backwards
to make others happy , they end up with a broken back...

Hank Williams Jr. releases another statement

I never realized hank was so stupid.  Obama is not the enemy.  He is the leader of the US and trying to get the ship righted but since day one he has been subjected to hard core right wingers who would prefer to have failure for the United States and success from a Democrat.  Even when Bush was in office my hope was for him to succeed for the best interest of the United States and not to fail just so a party could be put into a dark light and the other party get elected into the executive office.  Hank knows all about dirty politics as he is a big supporter of it and cares only for himself and not the good of this country.  What a scumbag!

Hank Williams Jr. releases another statement

I think most of you forget (or never new) that it's ok to speak your mind and beliefs.  Most of the Americans are like "sheep".  I love Hank Jr. for his courage to speak his mind.  It's what most of us are thinking anyway.  I love you Hank!  Don't mind the complainers posting comments... just sad, ignorant Liberals!  They don't really count anyway (or won't soon).  I am with you and all the rest of the Conservative, Proud... Americans!!!!

Freedom of speach is a good thing.  Being an ignorant, drunk, asshole on TV is a bad thing.  What a frickin' loser.  I can't believe people complain about athletes who are 'dumb' making lots of cash when this talentless loser makes anything.  If he were in Hitler's Germany, he would be cleaning someone's outhouse.  And I'm a republican, but he's still an idiot.

Hank Williams Jr. releases another statement

First of all, and foremost, Hank Williams' "All My Rowdy Friends" has long since overstayed it's welcome as MNF's theme song.  It should have been replaced long ago.  What was once a novelty became tired.

Second, Hank Jr. must have been hammered if he went on national tv wearing an Alabama hat and saying that he wants to run for a Tennessee Senate seat.  That gaffe alone probably lost him votes.

As with many a public figure, what you meant to say is often lost in translation.  Do yourself a favor.  Unless you know exactly what you want to say and you are prepared to back it to the hilt, follow Elvis Presley's lead.  If asked a question about a controversial subject, respond that "I'm just an entertainer and I'd rather not say".

ESPN is a bunch of liberal Nazi's! There guess fire me now! Is it not one's right to have the ability to speak their mind while trying to convay or make one understand where their view is coming from we use examples although some people ears bleed when you say stuff that may hurt their feelings. I would hate to see how these people act at work or in their lives. If called a bitch or bum they must have to go see a therapist. Wonder why are country is week and no responsibility is taken. We are in a resession because people are lazy and won't work for anything, not willing to suck up their pride, they all want it for free. If you lost your job then go back to school or actually go and take a job not just interview or slap down some piece of paper. This is why we are going down the tubes..the only honest living left is being a soldier!!! God Bless you Hank!!! At least your not one of the pussies!

He was hammered , should have never
been put on TV... Enough with everything being a racist
comment , as I thought we had freedom of speech ...
Or does that only belong to Afro -Americans these
days... 95% of Afro-Americans voted for Obama
but that's not a racist statement... Go Hank speak
your dumb mind... We have fought wars & spent
trillions of dollars for that freedom...
