Cooley mocks Romo, wants to cagefight him

The rivalry between the Cowboys and Redskins is always entertaining, especially when you have characters like Chris Cooley involved. (For those that don't remember Cooley and then-teammate Colt Brennan did a mock video of Jason Witten and Tony Romo doing a "Fantasy Files" video. It's amazing.)

But Cooley might have taken things to a new level this time, mocking the Cowboys choke against Detroit last week and Romo's meltdown. Also, challenging Romo to fight.

"It’s SO good," Cooley said of Romo's play in Week 4, via Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post. "I was watching the scoreboard in St. Louis, and I didn’t see that they’d lost really until they end, I thought they blew them out so I kind of stopped paying attention. It’s amazing, AMAZINGto watch him choke like that.

"I’m just saying, I’m up 24 points in the third quarter, if I’m the head coach, I feel like I could probably just take a knee for the rest of the game, punt it away and there’s no way that Detroit’s gonna drive on you that many times," Cooley said. "The only way you’re gonna give up that many points is turnovers, right? It’s hilarious to watch him throw pick sixes, too, back-to-back. I loved it. But it wouldn’t be as good as my cage fight."

Cooley makes a pretty good point, and the same one I've been screaming about all week -- the Cowboys were up 24 points and weren't running the damn ball. Just because it's a passing league doesn't mean you have to pass. Run the ball. Melt the clock. Win the game. It's a pretty simple formula if you're up 24 points.

Whatever, the point being that Cooley also said he thinks he can take Romo in a cagefighting match. Arrington, per Steinberg, asked Cooley how long it would take to finish Romo off in the classic steel-cage format. The result is, predictably, awesome.

"For me to beat Tony? I’m gonna be honest, I don’t know what kind of cagefighting skills he has," Cooley said. "I would probably try to incorporate my wrestling ability, like when I was in high school. Obviously it’s been a while, but I didn’t like to beat people fast. I like to embarrass 'em a little bit. Like, take a 24-point lead, and then just play with it a little bit."

Well then -- the Redskins/Cowboys rivalry is just taking on a whole new turn of nastiness isn't it? Cooley seems to have already forgetten what happened in Week 3, when the Cowboys won on Monday night. But that's OK, it only makes the fight that much spicier.

With that in mind, let's break down the measurables. Or, at least, the stuff we like to compare between the two guys. To the tape!

Cooley mocks Romo, wants to cagefight him

OK first off Chris is a great TE

Great Tight Ends usually aren't the second best tight end on their own team.  Cooley has clearly lost the #1 spot on the team to Fred Davis.  Now he's just running his mouth like a little girl so he can see his name in the news again.  Romo sure didn't choke when the Cowboys beat Cooley's team.  What a moron!!!

Cooley mocks Romo, wants to cagefight him

I guess when you've only got 7 passes in 4 games and are losing your starting job as an NFL tight end you start to relive the glory days of high school wrestling?  Ummmm, okay then.  Good for you Cooley, you wrestled in high school and now think you can beat a guy you outweigh by 30 pounds and that relates to football how?

sp;  This guy has done NOTHING in his career! He's not even the best TE on his OWN TEAM! What a joke!Maybe he should spend more time on his football skills than running his big mouth. Just shows he has no class. Just like most of the Washington Redskins! When was the last time that organization was worth a crap? The Doug Williams days? Shut up already!

Cooley mocks Romo, wants to cagefight him

Im not saying that your view isnt correct but I find it funny coming from a Yankees fan. ESPN and everyother media outlet are on the Yankees nuts 24/7. Last time I remember, I believe the Yankees took an ass beating at the hands of the Texas Rangers last year (2010 AL champs) but yet jack asses like Buster Onley cant help but slobber all over "overtated pieces of garbages" (and may I add overpaid) such as  A-Roid, Jeter and whoever else is not earning their checks!

The New York Yankees are the Tony Romos of the MLB!

Cooley mocks Romo, wants to cagefight him

That is awesome when a jerk has a platform to run his mouth and then takes the time to mock the QB that just kicked butt a week earlier.  Even better than that is said BULLY challenging a much smaller guy, not to mention a quarterback to a fight.  Real tough guy.  And why is he watching for the cowboys on the scoreboard.  I think Cooley has a crush on Romo.

If that bum Art Monk made the HOF then Cooley has to be a future HOFer. 7, Yes SEVEN, catches, 66 yds, this year.

the garet...are you deaf?  Go back and watch the monday night game from last week.  And listen to the blowing that was going on between Jaws and Gruden.  Romo was terrible that night.  22-36, 255 yards, no TD's and 1 INT.  Him and his center couldn't get on the same page, he was screaming at everyone, yet if you listened to the announcers, he was Joe Montana.  His ONLY decent pass of the night was the 3rd and 21 to Bryant, who was WIDE OPEN!  He better make that pass.  But to Jaws - it was unbelievable, simply amazing.

Playing hurt, calling him a hero?  Please.  Every NFL'er plays hurt.  Romo is a ****ing overrated piece of garbage.  can't win the big one.  ever.

Cooley mocks Romo, wants to cagefight him

You should all be kissing Cooley's ass for several reasons-- as the one rational person pointed out, Cooley was being silly. What he said was juvenile but a far cry from Bart Scott threatening to injure Wes Welker last year. Cooley's remarks are entertaining and will likely be laughed off by Romo if/when asked about it but in case the Cowboys happen to take offense, then Cooley just provided them with additional motivation to beat the Redskins and take subtle cheapshots at him the entire game. I, for one, prefer goofballs like Cooley over stale, robotic interviews typical of pro athletes. Hell, I'm a Pats fan and I enjoy Rex Ryan's BS for the same reason.

Also, objectively speaking, Cooley has been a pretty good, consistent TE in his career when healthy.

Cooley mocks Romo, wants to cagefight him

he's far from a nobody. He's made the Pro Bowl twice
How many times did Brandon Merriweather make it?  I wouldn't use Pro-Bowls if I were you...

Cooley mocks Romo, wants to cagefight him

Any real man knows that Cooley's wife is 100 times hotter than Romo's girl.  Romo's girl looks like a plastic surgery junkie.  She reminds me of the Joker.  By the way, is Romo's girl wearing Cooley's jersey in that photo?  Just askin.
