It might have taken four and a half games into the regular season, but it looks like the Broncos coaching staff has finally fallen in line with its fans: Head coach John Fox named Tim Tebow the team's starting quarterback on Tuesday. And that's where we'll begin today's discussion with Pete Prisco, Mike Freeman, Josh Katzowitz, Will Brinson and Ryan Wilson. Fire away.

"Well, I think [the] 1-4 [record] has a lot to do with it," Fox said, according to the Associated Press. "We haven't gotten it done as a football team. It's not one guy. It's not all Kyle Orton's fault. But we do have to make adjustments, we have to change and we have to do something to win football games."

Tebow replaced Orton in the second half of Sunday's loss to the Chargers where he completed 4 of 10 throws for 79 yards, including a passing and a rushing touchdown, and the Broncos were a last-second completion in the end zone from beating their division rival. Orton, for his part, has played poorly enough to lose the job, although the organization decided not to trade him to the Dolphins prior to training camp because Tebow wasn't deemed to be ready for the full-time gig. Now, it seems, that has changed. (Maybe Fox was blown away by Tebow outperforming Aaron Rodgers in Week 5.)

It's go time. (US PRESSWIRE)

"He gave us a spark. That's Tim Tebow," running back Willis McGahee Sunday, via the Denver Post. "Everybody's been cheering for him for the longest, and now he finally got in and came in and moved the ball for us."

For his part, Orton has promised to support Tebow.

"I'm disappointed with everything," he said. "I wish I could have played better. I wish we had a better record. There's a lot of things, but reality is what it is."

More via the AP:
Orton, who's in the final year of his contract, is 6-21 since winning his first six games as Denver's starter. The Broncos tried to trade Orton, who's making $9 million this season, when the lockout ended, but talks with Miami broke down and Fox instead threw open the quarterback competition, something for which Tebow proved ill-prepared.

Stop...Tebow Time?
Orton had worked extensively with teammates in workouts organized by safety Brian Dawkins during the lockout. So had Tebow, but he also spent time pitching products and his autobiography across the country. Orton's and Brady Quinn's offseason workout program paid off when training camp rolled around.

Orton maintained his stranglehold on the starting job and Quinn appeared to win the backup job despite a poor performance in the final preseason game, but Fox said this week that wasn't really the case: Tebow was his No. 2. This despite Tebow showing almost no progress in becoming the pocket passer that Broncos football chief John Elway has said he must become to make it in this league.
After the bye, the Broncos head to Miami to face the Dolphins. It could be a homecoming for Tim Tebow, starting NFL quarterback, who made his name at the University of Florida.

It could also be an opportunity for the Broncos to hand-deliver Orton to the Dolphins, a team desperately in need of a starter after losing Chad Henne for the season.

Orton is still the better QB. The problem is that he gets virtually no protection from his offensive line (except when they hold, which is quite often). When you have a stand in the pocket QB and your line sucks, it's a bad combination. That's the reason Tebow seems better, he can actually scramble. At the very least Tebow can get some more game time and improve his QB skills, but one thing is for sure, he'll be running for his life on every passing play.

Thats all ANYBODY have at the is point is speculations and projections I have been GULPING the kool-aid since I saw him play last season!!! All the so called experts and You, thats all you guys have. My stats are not made up but based on a projection of what he could do based on the facts!!!

This day and age those are not unrealistic stats for him to put up, hes in the same class as Vick and Vince Young

"Thats: 4405 total yds with 37 Tds Thats a superstar QB in his rookie season give him time and these numbers will improve!!!
I think the stats speak fror themselves and Stats don't Lie!!! Go Tebow"

Dude, quit drinking the Kool-Aid...or dropping the acid, or whatever you are doing there.  These are completely HYPOTHETICAL stats...you made them up!!!!  So, yes...your stats lie!!!  Projections are silly...especially with such a small sample size. Does a relief pitcher who gets a save in the first game of the season have a realistic chance of savings 162 games?!?!  C'mon man. It may be time to give Tebow a shot, especially because Orton is in the last year of his contract, has had a terrible start to this season, and they have to see if Tebow has what it takes to play quarterback in the NFL...but let's not start putting Tebow in the same category as Montana, Bradshaw, Marino, Elway, Favre, and countless others.  And for the love of GOD, stop doing the "simple math" to come up with your stats that speak for themselves and don't lie!  The only stats that speak for themselves and don't lie are the ones accomplished on the field.

The fact is Tebow made ZERO Mistakes on Sunday in a terrifying situation in which once he shook the rust off he played great!! Orton makes monumental mistakes in the 4th Qtr Tebow played like a winner and his team mates rallied behind him That is what the deffinition QB and leader is

Stats don't lie, but projections are meaningless. You cannot say that he WOULD have done this and WOULD have done that in a full season just because 3 games worth of stats project that way. That's why they play the games.

Tebow is your new Broncos starting QB

Good post RawDawg...but how can you say Stafford is doing awful?  He is probably the second best QB in the league through 5 weeks. As for his first two seasons...they were lost due to injuries rather than inefficient play. Even during his first two seasons, Stafford produced when on the field. Tebow is a baller...he is athletic and his athleticism saved his behind on several plays during the Broncos game last Sunday. But, I'd be willing to bet that over the course of a full season, Tebow will be a terrible QB.  Will he throw for a few TDs? Sure.  Will he rush for some TDs?  Sure.  Will he make catastrophic mistakes with the game on the line?  Absolutely. And as for his college career...it is a much different game than the NFL.  Just ask Danny Wuerffel...who had an incredible college career and never found a home in the NFL. People compare Tebow to Vick...but I think he compares more to Wuerffel...but the best thing about sports is that only time will tell.

I forgot to mention if DJ Williams doesnt commit the Personal foul Denver gets the ball back with 2 minutes and not 24 seconds, I can just imagine what all this talk would be if he had won the game which he almost did singlehandedly! Go Tebow

Tebow is your new Broncos starting QB

Finally they start Tebow!!!!!

Its about dang time, Orton almost went 6-13 for 34yds and 3 Ints in this last game giving SD a 38pt lead, My question is what does Orton have to do to lose his job? seriously I keep hearing about how Orton is better, what is Denver and all these haters thinking. I just dont get the pure hatred for the kid, hes one of the greatest college QBs ever and has not been given a fair shot at this level.

In his 3 starts last season He was:41-82 for 654yds and 5 Tds and 3 Ints Rushing he had 43 Attempts for 227yds and 6TDS and 1 Fumble

Now if he played the whole season:205-410 for 3270yds and 25 Tds 15 Ints Rushing 215 Attempts for 1135yds and lets say 12 Tds and 5 Fumbles and I wont give him 30 rushing Tds, which is what simple math says Lol

Plus his leadership and passion are almost unrivaled by some of the best QBs in the game today and what I witnessed on Sunday was amazing, The fans, The team, even Fox stood there in disbelief.

Thats: 4405 total yds with 37 Tds Thats a superstar QB in his rookie season give him time and these numbers will improve!!!

I think the stats speak fror themselves and Stats don't Lie!!! Go Tebow

Tebow is your new Broncos starting QB

The Dolphins marketing team has no idea what prayer just landed in their lap.  I'm in the 954 and collectively, we think this was one of the dumbest, oddest, don't-know-what-else-to-do-to-sell-tick

et ploys of all time.  Frankly, it still is.  However, now these two who have a combined 1 win between them are now a must-see-tv watch.  Think of it, the misguided Dolphins are honoring the Gators and Tim Tebow is sitting center stage as a former Gator and a Bronco starter.  Pixie dust? or Divine Intervention?  Call it what you want but I'm guessing that even though the Fins and Broncos aren't worth a gasp of mile high air, we'll be watching just to see Tebow.
