Tebow is your new Broncos starting QB

It might have taken four and a half games into the regular season, but it looks like the Broncos coaching staff has finally fallen in line with its fans: Head coach John Fox named Tim Tebow the team's starting quarterback on Tuesday. And that's where we'll begin today's discussion with Pete Prisco, Mike Freeman, Josh Katzowitz, Will Brinson and Ryan Wilson. Fire away.

"Well, I think [the] 1-4 [record] has a lot to do with it," Fox said, according to the Associated Press. "We haven't gotten it done as a football team. It's not one guy. It's not all Kyle Orton's fault. But we do have to make adjustments, we have to change and we have to do something to win football games."

Tebow replaced Orton in the second half of Sunday's loss to the Chargers where he completed 4 of 10 throws for 79 yards, including a passing and a rushing touchdown, and the Broncos were a last-second completion in the end zone from beating their division rival. Orton, for his part, has played poorly enough to lose the job, although the organization decided not to trade him to the Dolphins prior to training camp because Tebow wasn't deemed to be ready for the full-time gig. Now, it seems, that has changed. (Maybe Fox was blown away by Tebow outperforming Aaron Rodgers in Week 5.)

It's go time. (US PRESSWIRE)

"He gave us a spark. That's Tim Tebow," running back Willis McGahee Sunday, via the Denver Post. "Everybody's been cheering for him for the longest, and now he finally got in and came in and moved the ball for us."

For his part, Orton has promised to support Tebow.

"I'm disappointed with everything," he said. "I wish I could have played better. I wish we had a better record. There's a lot of things, but reality is what it is."

More via the AP:
Orton, who's in the final year of his contract, is 6-21 since winning his first six games as Denver's starter. The Broncos tried to trade Orton, who's making $9 million this season, when the lockout ended, but talks with Miami broke down and Fox instead threw open the quarterback competition, something for which Tebow proved ill-prepared.

Stop...Tebow Time?
Orton had worked extensively with teammates in workouts organized by safety Brian Dawkins during the lockout. So had Tebow, but he also spent time pitching products and his autobiography across the country. Orton's and Brady Quinn's offseason workout program paid off when training camp rolled around.

Orton maintained his stranglehold on the starting job and Quinn appeared to win the backup job despite a poor performance in the final preseason game, but Fox said this week that wasn't really the case: Tebow was his No. 2. This despite Tebow showing almost no progress in becoming the pocket passer that Broncos football chief John Elway has said he must become to make it in this league.
After the bye, the Broncos head to Miami to face the Dolphins. It could be a homecoming for Tim Tebow, starting NFL quarterback, who made his name at the University of Florida.

It could also be an opportunity for the Broncos to hand-deliver Orton to the Dolphins, a team desperately in need of a starter after losing Chad Henne for the season.

Tebow is your new Broncos starting QB

This is exactly what all the haters said about Mike Vick when he came into the NFL, just so you know.  All you Tebow haters will look like fools soon enough.  In fact you already do.  Last year he had 5 passing TD's and 6 rushing TD's and only started 3 games as a rookie.  If Tebow looks any more dreadful than Orton I will eat my words but it is not going to happen.

Tim Tebow isn't a QB. He is a running back and he won't go anywhere trying to run everywhere. There go the Broncos.

They were going to win maybe 4 games regardless of who the QB was,so it doesn't make any difference. This is the best of both worlds. It gives Tebow a chance to show what he can do and his supporters can see for themselves, and it also sets them up nicely probably in the Luck sweepstakes. My guess? Tebow will get nailed by a linebacker while scrambling out of the pocket and get injured, and he will not finish the season anyway. He is what he is.

Tebow is your new Broncos starting QB

I'm not going to say I am a Tim Tebow fan, but this is one thing I can tell you, and that's if the the Denver Broncos are benching Kyle Orton and playing Tim Tebow because of the fans, they are foolish. Of course, if he wins ball games, and merchandising improves, everyone will be happy. Fact is, I don't think the Broncos are going to the playoffs...and I'm urprised Brady Quinn doesn't get a shot.

I'm curious as to why they didn't trade Orton if they knew all along Tebow would be starting? As for the Dolphins and their QB woes, I think it would be a good situation for Orton and then Brady Quinn would be the backup, which is where he belongs.

Tim Tebow is a proven winner. It is very obvious that his mechanics are off, he has a lot of work to do as a quarterback. I am a Florida fan but not an overbearing annoying one. I admit when he screws up but I also want him to be given a fair shot. Tebow led an offense at florida that had just as much talent on it as it does now. The only difference is that Tebow led the team, and ran the offense in a way that not only put up points but inspired everyone around him to do better. What Tebow lacks in throwing mechanics, pocket presence, etc.. he makes up for with pure natural leadership and over the top athleticism. Im not going to say that he will be an amazing quartberback because he is a good leader, that would be stupid. I am saying that with what he has now, and the position the Bronco's are in, Tebow gives Denver the best chance to win football games in the future. What I am scared of is Tebow playing the next few games and not performing up to par with what the Denver fans are expecting and then he sits again. Tebow is a second year QB with 3 starts under his belt. He is very raw and needs time. He deserves the same opportunity as Bradford had and Stafford had. They are doing awful but they dont get any criticism. Thats because they are young. So is Tebow. So let him do his thing and grow, and hope for the best. It is whats best for Denver. Trade Orton to Miami for Cameron Wake or something. Get some defense. For those who say that Tebow sucks, you are simply stupid. Tebow was contemplated as one of the best college football players to ever play the game, that alone earns him the opportunity. And as for his persistent christian over the top comments. Well he can stfu cause its annoying. Go Ravens.

And one of his completions was a screen pass...not to mention he overthrew Decker by about 5 yards on what would have been a sure TD.  Careful what you wish for Denver fans.  By the time Tebow finishes screwing things up, Orton will look like John Elway.

He never said that.  Typical anti-Christian statement.
Hearing those statements regarding Tebow always amaze me...'you're only against him becacuse he's a Christian.'

So is most of the country, by a long shot...not even close.
