Not too long ago, Aaron Curry was the fourth-overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and a sure-fire, can't-miss linebacking prospect out of Wake Forest. Now, he's been traded from the Seahawks to the Raiders for a pair of undisclosed (read: late) draft picks.

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Raiders sent the Seahawks an undisclosed 2012 draft pick and an undisclosed 2013 draft pick in exchange for Curry.

Curry recorded 5.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, nine pass deflections and 130 total tackles in his time with Seattle, though he lost his starting job in 2011.

Earlier in the day, our Seahawks Rapid Reporter John Boyle noted that Curry cleaned out his locker and said goodbye to his teammates, though it took some time for word of the trade to leak out to the public.

A fresh start with the Raiders certainly stands to benefit Curry (more than staying in Seattle anyway), and there's no question that he's got enough upside to warrant the first post-Al Davis trade for Oakland, especially at the low price of two later draft picks.

The early part of the 2009 NFL Draft is now shaping up as one of the worst in recent history though: Jason Smith (Rams, moved to right tackle), Tyson Jackson (Chiefs), Curry, Andre Smith (Bengals), Darrius Heyward-Bey (Raiders), Aaron Maybin (Bills), and Larry English were among the top-20 picks in that draft class.

I still remember here in Detroit, Lions fans wanted this guy over Matt Stafford.  Debates were going on for 2 weeks before the draft and weeks after the draft regarding Curry vs Stafford...I get Stafford has been hurt but the guy never had a history for injury before a few big hits...he has shown us all how tough he really is  .  Where are all the Stafford haters from Detroit now?  Well those old guys are still looking for Bobby Layne.  The Lions are now 5-0 with a tough matchup coming this week in the 49'ers but I can really see this team going 10-0 versus the Packers on Thanksgiving.  Am I dreaming... maybe I am but the schedule looks winnable for them before Thanksgiving...anything can happen now.  GO LIONS!!!

4-12 to 7-9 = Better Jackuss
You mean 5-11?  Which they were the year before Carroll showed up.  All while scoring 30 more points and giving up 17 more points than the year before?  All while still being outscored by 97 points on the season, as opposed to 110?  All while still being ranked worse in offense and defense outside of points scored?  Yeah, you're right, their cake walk schedule last season had nothing to do with their 2 game improvement.  That and playing in a piss poor division like the NFC West, where they were able to beat the Cardinals twice.  Something that would have never happened had Kurt Warner still been playing.  The Seahawks didn't get better, moron, the rest of the division got worse.

Hopefully Jackson can turn Curry around. Seattle has a NCAA football coach that bailed from USC because he was under investigation. He will never be a good NFL coach.

I do believe these players are a product of the system they are in and Curry will flourish in a new one. Its been seen with a ton of players traded, how many times can you think of a guy being traded and all of a sudden being a star or playing above what he had been doing with his previous team.

This sucks.  I've felt ever since he was drafted the Seahawks misused Curry.  He's got playmaking ability like few others on the team (Earl Thomas and.....and.....Chris Clemons, maybe?).  Gonna suck to see him get unleashed in Oakland as a pass rusher.

Stafford and all of his injuries is still a better pick than this guy.

And all the while you got this guy named Clay Matthews just sitting there ho hum, FML Chiefs.  Curry has had a far better career than Jackson.  Chiefs fans including myself get all giddy when he bats a pass down.  We're talking about a guy who I saw first hand get punked by a hip sled last year at Training camp.  Trust me I was on the field watching it.  Just sucks to see good teams make good decisions maybe that's why they are good.  And now Oakland is going to get a guy who is going to not only restructure his contract but be hungry and have a fresh start.  Sweet Pioli, guess Jovan Belcher is the answer.  Not saying Curry will ever live up to the hype but at least they make moves.

I'm disappointed. the guy was the # 1 ranked LB out of college and everyone claimed this guy was the real deal, could be the #1 overall and blah blah blah. This was a guy out of the ACC, Wake Forest, not exactly a NFL or LB university. I can't help but wonder if Pete Carroll & John Schineder had picked him, would he still be around; or is this a result of trying to rid themselves of any and everything to do with the Jim Mora era? But, historically, the Seahawks do not do well with a top 5 draft pick-Rick Mier-#2, Brian Bozworth-supplemental draft at #6(?). We'll see what happens with him now. I wish hime luck except for once every 4 years when the Seahawks play Oakland. And I still can't get over the feeling that Al Davis sticks it to the Seahawks one last time! #4 overall pick for what's been reported elsewhere as a 7th round in '12 and conditional pick in '13!

Pete Carroll is a bonehead of the first order. He shocks the world by making the playoffs and actually winning a game, then he cuts as many players as he can, including a Pro Bowl QB in favor of a QB that has always been terrible. Carroll was a terrible Pro Football coach his first time around, who ran away to coach at So. Cal. A man should know his limitations, go back the to the college game where you belong.
