Not too long ago, Aaron Curry was the fourth-overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and a sure-fire, can't-miss linebacking prospect out of Wake Forest. Now, he's been traded from the Seahawks to the Raiders for a pair of undisclosed (read: late) draft picks.

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Raiders sent the Seahawks an undisclosed 2012 draft pick and an undisclosed 2013 draft pick in exchange for Curry.

Curry recorded 5.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, nine pass deflections and 130 total tackles in his time with Seattle, though he lost his starting job in 2011.

Earlier in the day, our Seahawks Rapid Reporter John Boyle noted that Curry cleaned out his locker and said goodbye to his teammates, though it took some time for word of the trade to leak out to the public.

A fresh start with the Raiders certainly stands to benefit Curry (more than staying in Seattle anyway), and there's no question that he's got enough upside to warrant the first post-Al Davis trade for Oakland, especially at the low price of two later draft picks.

The early part of the 2009 NFL Draft is now shaping up as one of the worst in recent history though: Jason Smith (Rams, moved to right tackle), Tyson Jackson (Chiefs), Curry, Andre Smith (Bengals), Darrius Heyward-Bey (Raiders), Aaron Maybin (Bills), and Larry English were among the top-20 picks in that draft class.

Seattle has been improving leaps and bounds since Carroll showed up, the team was a disaster & devoid of actual NFL talent when he came in.

I've been watching this kid from day one. He's big, fast, and tough, but constantly runs himself out of plays. He struggles in coverage, and is not an NFL pass rusher. He makes the all-NFL good guy team, but unless his head and eyes can catch up to his body, he will never make the the pro bowl. See ya next pre season Curry.

Talent is talent. It is all about the coaches that surround him, push him and make him learn.  Hue Jackson has a great group of young players with intensity, not to mention talent.  Hue's staff is also very good!  As a long-time Raiders fan, I am excited about the young team, and the direction they are heading. Hue is a players coach, intense and passionate!  Curry may not end up being the All Pro he was drafted to be, but he will be a great 2nd tier guy who brings the energy and power you hope to have at the 1st string level!

I think its good for anyone to get the heck out of that hole of an NFL team. The Seahawks are brutal and their coach is a college guy and nothing more. They have no clue in Seattle. He would be better anywhere at all !!

I think people need to slow down before categorizing third year players as busts. Andre Smith is not a bust, he's a starter on a 3-2 team. Darrius Heyward-Bey, has had back-to-back great games. Larry English has two sacks and is making plays for one of the best defensive teams in the league. I would stamp Maybin and Jason Smith as busts, but the rest i would wait before giving them that label.

Andre Smith is a starter for the Bengals and the line gives up very few sacks.  Take him off the list.

Seems to be a good enough guy and very intense but brain dead when it comes to the mental part of football. Hope he turns it around as it was fun watching him put a hit on someone.

Just wait Mr. Raider guy. You will see what we are talking about in due time. A guy with all of the physical tools one would need to be an all pro in the NFL but not brain in his head when it comes to fundamentals or defensive scheme. Aaron Curry IS the Jamarcus Russell od line backers. Minus the purple drink. I actually think Curry is a decent human being....But you guys in Oakland will fix that....You always do....Bwaaaa ha ha ha......Bwaaaa ha ha ha!

Curry will fit right in, in Oakland. Athleticism and no instinct is the Raiders mantra. I for one, surely won’t miss his dropped gimme interceptions or his hundred mile an hour blown tackles. Hey Aaron, thanks for all the follie clips and not so devastating knock out hits.
Enjoy Oakland and all it has to offer. Another fine draft pick from Tim Ruskell. Now maybe we can get Lofa back in uniform.
