Marshall: I'll play like a monster, get ejected

Brandon Marshall hasn’t had much to say this season. He’s caught 22 passes, tied for 29th in the NFL, and considering the Dolphins receiver plays for a winless team, there hasn’t been a reason for Marshall, who’s known for his controversies and who admitted this summer to suffering from borderline personality disorder, to make some kind of outrageous statement.

Until this week when he had a few incendiary comments to make when talking about his team’s upcoming matchup with the Jets on Monday night.

Brandon, the mic is all for you.

“I think the past four games have been tough for me, trying to control some things, and, hey man, I’m just going to let it out,” Marshall said, via the Miami Herald.

“I don’t care if I have two, three cameras on me. I don’t care if I have penalties. It doesn’t matter; I’m going to let it all out. I don’t care what you guys write or what the commentators say. I’m just going to play football. That’s what I’m best at. I’m best when I play emotional. I’m best when I play with passion. You guys are going to see that on Monday Night Football. I don’t know if it’s throwing a football 15 yards in the bleachers, or getting a 15-yarder [penalty], or punting the ball and getting thrown out of the game. But something is going to happen. I’ll probably get kicked out after the second quarter.”

Marshall, by the way, repeated the assertion that he was probably going to be ejected by the second quarter four times. Reporters asked him if he was just kidding around.

Marshall's controversies
I’m not joking. I’m serious,” he said. “They want to fine me, hit me with a $50,000 fine. I’m going to play. The quarter and a half I’m out there, I’m going to play like a monster. I might get into a fight with Bart Scott. [Antonio] Cromartie, we pretty much matured our relationship a little bit. We used to fight in Denver and San Diego. If that happens, it happens. We’ll see.”

Dolphins PR tried to end the interview twice with reporters, but Marshall -- god love him -- kept talking. According to reports, Marshall wasn’t upset or angry. He was matter of fact (which, when you think about it, might be the scariest part of all).

Coach Tony Sparano said he thought Marshall was half-kidding and that Marshall probably was referring to his passion as a pass-catcher and a blocker. But, um, I don’t know about that.

“Football for me has just been too easy,” Marshall said. “I’m saying that in a humble way, if that’s possible. I’ve been blessed with a gift. I’m not going to overthink this thing. I’m just going to go out there, play ball, play with passion, play with aggression out there. My goal is to get thrown out midway through the second quarter. Hopefully, I achieve that -- whatever it takes -- if that’s what I need to get the season going.”

Hey, whatever works.

Marshall: I'll play like a monster, get ejected

What did he Dolphins think they were getting with this thug? He is speaking from the heart and that is what is sad; that his heart is filled with that garbage. Instead of playing like a monster, getting a penalty or getting thrown out the game, just say I am going to play like Jerry Rice and actually earn your money. Do something posistive, but no, he wants to show his butt and act like a thug. The Dolphins should have skipped on this dude.

How about he just plays like a WR and not a ghost?  I know the Fins are bad, but he sure hasn't done anything to help.

He just wants the attention.  As it says in the article... he is on a winless team that has not been in the news (other than to report that they are in the hunt for Andrew Luck.)  Marshall thrives on the attention from the press, so, in order for anything to go national he has to say and/or do something outrageous.  So, why not say that you are going to get yourself thrown out of a game?  Making that statement gives marshall exactly what he wants.... publicity.  It doesn't matter to Marshall that the large majority of the people that read what he said will think that he is ridiculous.  Marshall will be happy that people are reading about him.  He has accomplished his goal.  Will he follow through on his "threat"?  It will be interesting to see.  It all depends on how much more publicity he wants to grab.

Sounds like Brandon could use a good woman like Monique Bradley to calm him down.

Mind games for the Jets?BB & Brady got inside their heads; It's not that difficult. Watch him score 3 TD's before he gets the boot, while we sit him. He's a very talented head case.He belongs in New England.

Shake...... Trying to see your reasoning on your fantasy advise. Antonio Brown and David Nelson over Marshall? Marshall is the #1 option first off. Secondly, even with Marshall'sweek off, he still has more points than either of the two you mentioned.

To heck with Revis Island, he isn't as good as everyone seems to think ffs.  it's gonna take more than a single coverage to keep Marshall in check, he's been doubled most of this year, hence the reason his numbers haven't been great, but it opens up things for Hartline on the other side.

Anyopne who likes Marshall is kind of like someone who likes WWF (or whatever it's called now). Action every once in a while but in the end, it's like "why did I watch?".

Anyone who has him in a fantasy league must be more "fan" than "fantasy owner". That goes for those that think if Marshall had a "real quarterback' he'd be a productive receiver falls into the same category.

He's had a few good years but those are past and is more "has been" than anything, needing attention not production to get his name in the headlines.
