UPDATED 7:06 p.m. ET: According to NFL.com, Campbell will miss the rest of the season with his dislocated shoulder.

----------

Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell has been knocked out of the Oakland-Cleveland game with about 4 minutes left in the second quarter, and according to the San Francisco Chronicle, he's dislocated his shoulder.  After gaining seven yards on a run, Cleveland’s Scott Fujita tackled him, and Campbell stayed on the turf until Oakland trainers could reach him.

As he slowly walked off the field, Campbell -- who was 6 of 9 for 52 yards and had helped the Raiders to a 14-7 lead against the Browns -- Campbell, in obvious pain, held his arm close to abdomen. Kyle Boller is in to replace Campbell, and on his first play in the game, a fourth and 1 from the Raiders 34, the team went for it and Boller gained the first down on a sneak.

If Boller were to go down, Terrelle Pryor -- who is not on the active roster -- would not play. Instead, the Raiders emergency third quarterback is punter Shane Lechler.

Very classy.

If we can get Carson to perfrom like Rivers, I really like our chances. I hope that the AFC west will fear Palmer the way they do Rivers. It is a stretch considering the age difference, Palmer is capable.

Carson Palmer

We do not know that this will work, but it is the best option. The guy can throw all over the field. Campbell cannot. Every fade pattern jason threw this year was completed out of bounds. He constantly under threw/over threw the deep ball down the middle for the last 2 years. The price was very high, but did anyone really want boller to start ?  Carson may not work out, but I believe we have a better qb than we had in jason.

In the end, this team will not advance to or in the playoffs based on its pitiful secondary and playing man to man coverage too often. That said, the def is blitzing at a ridiculous rate after the passing of AL. The new approach will cover up some of the coverage problems, and our speed is on display.

@JimmyG- That does not make you 1 of the "greatest" players in NCAA history like he is made out to be. I put him in the same class as Ken Dorsey got lucky to have a ton of talent around him

Sorry to hear the Jason Campbell is out for the season. I hate to see any player get hurt even a player on the Raiders. (Eew I just threw up in my mouth.)  Just kidding ;-)

The Raiders will still be a dangerous team and they have really started to turn things around.  I want to see a stronger AFC West because then who ever wins the Division is more battle tested for the Playoffs.  Tom Cable was a block head and now the Raiders have a real coach.

Good luck to the Raiders except on November 10th and January 1st and may the best team win the AFC West.

Jamarcus Russell grossed 35 million dollars playing for the Raiders, not including whatever he made in endorsements.  He should be on the couch, or if not on the couch on a different beach and in a different resort every month or so.
