Eagles trade Ronnie Brown for Jerome Harrison

The Eagles continued their streak of trading for Jerome Harrison at the NFL's trade deadline (two years is a streak, right?), acquiring the running back and an undisclosed draft pick from the Lions on Tuesday in exchange for running back Ronnie Brown, the team announced.

Last year around this time, the Eagles acquired Harrison from Cleveland in exchange for Mike Bell.

In eight games with the Eagles last year, Harrison averaged 29.9 yards per game on five carries and scored once. Brown to this point has averaged 6.3 yards per game and posted one of the worst turnovers in the history of the NFL when he tried to lateral the ball from the one-yard line to Michael Vick as he was falling to the ground.

Good news for the Lions, then: Brown will be getting some decent carries because of the concussion that Jahvid Best is currently dealing with, and will likely serve as the team's goal line back even when Best returns to the lineup.

Actually, Brown can make a difference for the Lions, as he's the type of between-the-tackles power runner that the Lions could use. His style never really worked with what Andy Reid wanted to run in Philadelphia.

Don't expect Harrison to make much more of an impact in Philly than he did last year however. But the Eagles feel like they basically swapped out a similar player (in their system anyway) and picked up a draft pick, which is a win for them as well.

Eagles trade Ronnie Brown for Jerome Harrison

I didn't like Ronnie Brown in Miami or in Philly.  His window is quickly closing.  I'm not sure if this will help the Lions running game, which was already a bit weak, but improving.  It's too bad J.Best is hurt because the offense was starting to figure out how to run the ball better with him.  Now they have to figure it out with Ronnie Brown.  Good luck with that!

I think Brown could be a beast again running the ball for Detroit. Maybe a new start for his career. Stranger things have happened. He really was wasted on the Eagles. They have a starter who is rarely out, and Best is not an every down back.<br />

Thanks Eagles for the greatest laugh we have had in years!  The Dream Team - that was awesome!  Too bad you didn't make T-Shirts - you would have made a fortune.

Kind of funny seeing that Brown went to the Eagles to be part of the "only in their dreams" team. Thinking he`d get himself an easy superbowl ring.

Eagles trade Ronnie Brown for Jerome Harrison

This is great news for the Eagles.  Ronnie Brown knows how to beat the Patriots.  But his wildcat days on the Eagles were terrible.  Really terrible.  He was wasted on a team that only calls 10 run plays per game.  He will do better for the Lions.  Jahvid Best - Fantasy---  Sit him.  He's done for the season - AGAIN.  The kid knows how to run the ball.  But he's just not built for the NFL.  No more TDs for best this year.  Trade him ASAP.

Jahvid Best is on my fantasy football team. How do you guys think this will affect him? Will he still get the goal-line TD and enough carries to be a worthy starter?

Eagles trade Ronnie Brown for Jerome Harrison

They should have signed Evan Royster fron the Redskins practice squad-young man gained 100+ yards in the first pre-season game and then got STASHED! Look for Royster and Helu to be in the mix for the Redskins starting job next season-Hightower will be gone.
Ronnie Brown is a bum, they should just feed Keiland Williams the ball 20+ times a game until Best is healthy.

Eagles trade Ronnie Brown for Jerome Harrison

Ronnie Brown just didn't fit in for the Eagles.  And even better than that - maybe that means we've seen the last of that stupid Wildcat formation.  Brown invented it for the Dolphins.  But he looked totally inept at it for the Eagles.  It must be the system.  But I was never happy when PHL picked him up this off-season, so this trade makes me happy.  It sounds like the Lions need him, too.  Real bad news about Jahvid Best.  That guy seems electric, but maybe too fragile?  I am good with Jerome Harrison back in Philly.  Unfortunately, I am afraid the Eagles used up all the run plays they call for the first half of the season, last week vs the Redskins.  30+ carries per game would make me happy for the next few.
