Report: Jerome Harrison has brain tumor

The Jerome Harrison-Ronnie Brown trade that was voided Wednesday between the Lions and the Eagles was thwarted by a brain tumor found in Harrison during a routine physical.

That’s the report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who writes, “Without trade, Jerome Harrison doesn't get physical. Without physical, doctors don't find brain tumor. Trade might have saved his life.”

Now, the disappointment some might have felt when the trade fell through Wednesday has to be tempered by the fortuitous discovery made by the Eagles doctors.

Report: Jerome Harrison has brain tumor

Don't all NFL teams give physicals to all of their players when they report to training camp? I sure thought they did, because I know of players that have been held out of camp by the team for failing a physical - like Marcus Harrison was for the Bears this year. So, why was the Philly medical staff able to detect something that went undetected by the Lions' medical staff? Just wonderin'.

Anyhow, thankfully it was discovered during the post-trade physical and hopefully it is fully treatable. Life is full of strange and mysterious turns of events.

Yes, this is a blessing to him or should be. As for you I do not know you and despise the G-men ( Cowboys fan ), but I offer my condolences on the loss of your daughter. I have a 21 year old son from a failed marriage and a 2 1/2 year old daughter from failed relationship after marriage. I love both my children the same but at the age I am, I am alot more tender hearted and she is my world right now. Noone should ever outlive their children and I pray that I am never in your situation. Losing either one I can only imagine is totally heartbreaking.

Depending on where it's at surgery shouldn't be an issue.  I fully recovered from my brain surgery but I had a cavernous malformation and not a tumor.  Hopefully the brain surgeon tells him what mine told me... "it should be fairly easy to remove".  Good luck Mr. Harrison.

Wow

How wonderful and terrible all in the same line. A brain tumor is nothing to joke about. Wonderful that they hopefully caught it soon enough to treat it effectively. I lost my father many years ago to brain cancer, and the advances since then have been nothing short of miraculous.  Good luck to jerome and a speedy recovery.

amazing that this might have not been caught without a possible trade.

Good thing it was caught, but not all brain masses are created equal. This could be a benign slow growing mass of no consequence or a malignant mancer that was caught early. Either way, his life has changed for awhile.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Mr Harrison. As a father who lost his 6 year old daughter about 10 years ago to inoperable brain stem tumor, I understand. Please, I know you will never read these posts, but keep positive, don't question why or how come me? Have faith in whatever you find it and find faith in yourself to win! All things happen for a reason, and this trade has supernatural reasoning behind it so that the next step of your journey will change you and make you a "new" normal every day!

God bless us, one and all!

GO G-MEN!
