Since I’ve assumed all of you have finished your lunch today -- apologies to those in the Pacific Time Zone -- let’s go back to the videotape (thanks to the magic of Sorting the Sunday Pile) to see what transpired Sunday between Vikings defensive end Brian Robison and Packers offensive lineman T.J. Lang.

In effect, let’s watch Robison kick Lang in the nuts again.

OK, now that we’ve done that, here’s the aftermath of that kick to the groin, which weirdly did not draw a penalty (though likely will draw a fine).

Lang awesomely tweeted Sunday night, “Glad to report my genitalia are in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery!” And on Monday, Robison apologized on Twitter: “My apologies to @tjlang70 , my team, my fans and the @nfl . I am not a dirty player and did not maliciously aim for the groin, just happened to be where it landed.”

Responded Lang: “All joking aside, I think @Brian_Robison is a heck of a player.. Just caught up in the emotion of the game.. apology accepted.”

Wonderful. But now I have a question: which is worse: Robison’s foot to the groin or LeSean McCoy’s punch to the stomach?

It did draw a penalty.  The ref was just about to throw his flag before the above video stopped.  And a fine, of course.

I agree....that Occupy Wall Street is a bunch of lazy good-for-nothings that expect something for nothing. Most don't have a clue what they are doing there or who they are mad at, and the ones that do don't realize they are going about it the wrong way.
Then you need a US History refresher. Every liberty, privilege, and benefit we enjoy as citizens of the United States of America has come as a result of popular struggle, which is exactly what Occupy Wall Street is. Every single one. They are going about it in the only way it has ever worked. By the way, explain how it's lazy to go out of your way to march and occupy for days while receiving none of the comforts of home and being confronted by counter-protests, the police, and the corporate-hired goon squads. That must be some kind of miracle.

jrodman,

That was a hard red card to take.  Down one man for 60 minutes and still make a game of it.  Technically the official was correct but....oh well.

Josh... Are you REALLY THAT STUPID????  If you watched the game, or at least extended the video an extra 2 secs, you will see the ref throw his flag.  Sorry, but you really are stupid, aren't you?  How much they pay you?  Hopefully minimum wage at most.

The article is wrong, there was a personal foul called on Robison for the cheapshot which took place on a fieldgoal attempt and was marked off on the ensuing kickoff, but yes, he deserves a fine. There is no place in profesional sports for this kind of dirty play.

"They don't have penalties until a bone is showing". I am not an avid rugby fan either, but I suggest you google "sam warburton sent off". This happened in the World Cup and drastically altered the landscape of the entire cup.

I agree that the protection of the QB's is overboard. That is all.

Does that load of slop picking off your QB in the NFC championship game still bother you? Beautiful thing to win the Halas trophy in your house.

I'm laughing a bit now myself. Sports and politics don't mix. My apologies. Robinson should definitely have been flagged for his kick. The Umpire (not Ref) was looking right at it, according to the video. It sure looked like he was probably eyeballing it and then his hand went to his waistband or so I thought before the clip ends; I thought he was going to throw a flag and was surprised to learn he had not.

I threw the OWS tidbit in...well, just because. It's the flavor of the month in the MSM.

I'd much rather talk about the World Series anyway. I just felt compelled to throw in a comment before my 1st cup of coffee this morning (West Coast of Africa at the moment), and I have been watching rugby for the past four weeks and hearing how much tougher their players are compared to "wimpy" American players and their pads. Basically, playing a little devils advocate. I've been defending our players quite well, I think. I would absolutely love to see a team of All Star rugbers line up against an All-Star team of NFL'ers for a bit of both sports. We'd have trouble keeping up with the constant running but after a few bone crunching hits by some of our LB's, with or without pads, they won't be running fast for long.

No more politics. Again, I apologize.
