You might be shocked to hear this, but not a lot of NFL teams are interested in watching Terrell Owens run around a field shirtless. Or, alternately, they're not interested in signing him -- not a single team showed up to the workout Owens had in California on Tuesday.

Owens agent Drew Rosenhaus said prior to the workout that he wouldn't be surprised if teams avoided the trip to California, but chalked the absence of personnel people more to an ability to watch video of Owens than a lack of interest in the player. Owens sounded more realistic.

"I only need one team," Owens said. "I only need one chance."

Physically, Owens looked in impressive shape given his age -- he'll be 38 in December -- and looked quick.

"I don't feel as old as my age actually is," Owens said. "Honestly, you're only as old as what people say you are."

No one's ever doubted Owens skill, regardless of his age. The bigger problem is that Owens is a notorious pain when it comes to his locker-room presence, and that's something that a contending team isn't likely to deal with, unless it's desperate.

What kind of team would that be? Well, the Titans have expressed interest in Owens, but even Rosenhaus admitted that it was a "running interest" (read: alternately hot and cold) and they're a possibility for the wideout because Kenny Britt's done for the year.

But although Owens put up nice numbers in Cincinnati last year, he wasn't exactly an explosive downfield threat, much less a true No. 1 wideout, which is what Tennessee needs.

Week 7 Recap

How about the Raiders? Well, Owens, who played with Carson Palmer last year, wouldn't rule it out.

"Well, I'm very familiar with Carson and if that situation comes up, then definitely I'll have to assess that and talk with my agent," Owens said. "But at this point and at this stage in my career I definitely want to go to a contender. I want to compete for a Super Bowl."

But that doesn't mean he wouldn't play for a non-contender.

"No I'm not going to give up," Owens said about the possibility of retiring if a contender wasn't interested.

He might have to consider giving up, though. There's probably no more than a 20-percent chance that an NFL team signs him, but like T.O. said, maybe there's a chance.

Although if he's at the point where he's filming himself playing football, it might be time to get concerned he's crossed into Uncle Rico territory.

Whether or not T.O.'s locker room antics are or are not a creation of the media is secondary to the fact that he is 37 years old and just had ACL surgery.

Rosenhaus says he's sending a video of the workout (perhaps carefully edited?) to all the general managers.  (Hey, GMs, that's the risk you take when you don't show up: the agent gets final cut, as they say in Hollywood.)

The questions now are:

(a) How many GMs will actually watch it?
(b) How many GMs who don't want to watch it will tell one of their underlings to watch it?
(c) How many GMs will just trash it?

Any guesses?

Mr. Brinson, did you mean to say, "that doesn't mean he wouldn't play for a non-contender"?

I think since he played in Buffalo TO has normalized and shaking the locker room distraction is more a media thing digging at him right now. To be honest, he played for the Bengals, To blame him for that season is absurd & ludicrous. Last I checked, TO doesn't play defense and if # 85 leaves for New England and comparing the two wr's productivity, Heck, Moss & TO are simply better wr's and should be playing. At this stage of the season, TO might be the spark that gets a few teams realistically over the hump and in contention for a wild card. So that's a matter of how much it's worth for TO to run pass routes, catch footballs. Granted he gets his touches every game, but his productivity is not the reason the Bills & Bengals lost games, they were teams that stunk. Granted they did it without TO to get to the place where they are now, anyone doesn't think TO made the others better from a role model and mentor standpoint, meaning just the work ethic and talent he has & displays. Contrary to Moss, TO may have a big mouth in the past, but he never gave up like Moss. That's a big difference.

Club Can't Handle Me

TO need to invite the scouts to the club where he do his thing on the dance floor with a couple of hot ladies.  His moves will impress---the chicks dig his thing.  That will get him some invites to the teams and his agent rosenhaus can get a nice check.

it is a shame that T.O. could have been the best reciever ever besides jerry rice.  But he started talking and being a pain in the locker room. No one wants a 38 year old 24 year old minded reciever that thinks he still has one more game in him.  Sorry T.O. maybe you should have kept your mouth shut when you were younger people may have more sympanthy for you. Pray that another reciever gets hurt and you are back in the game.

If this guy had the emotional maturity of an average high school student he'd be closer to Rice's records than anyone else.--a tragic head case.

Among the list of problems with signing Ownes... is his agent Drew Rosenhaus will be asking WAY TOO MUCH - add that to the fact that he's a nut case and a Primadonna with a knack for being loud at just the wrong time... it's probably over for Owens
