Reggie Bush says the Dolphins 'stink,' upsets teammates in the process. (US PRESSWIRE)

Posted by Ryan Wilson

It happens every season: a team gets off to a slow start, the frustration builds before reaching a tipping point, and people getting fired, traded or released is invariably preceded by back-stabbing and finger-pointing. Which brings us to the 2011 Dolphins.

At 0-6 they're one of the league's sorriest teams, most recently victimized by the Tim Tebow's Blinding Awesomeness (it didn't help that Miami was in the wrong defense on the game's decisive play).

After Sunday's loss, there was plenty of blame to go around. Reggie Bush, who was traded to Miami before the season, spoke frankly.

“It’s just embarrassing, I don’t know any other way to explain it,” he said. “It’s an embarrassing loss. Had no business losing that game. We were up 15 points with what, five minutes left to go? And we couldn’t win it? It’s disgusting. Right now, this team stinks.”

Bush isn't wrong. It's that he probably shouldn't articulate those thoughts publicly. Team unity and whatnot. On Wednesday, Dolphins safety Yeremiah Bell had some thoughts on Bush.

Via Examiner.com's Jeremiah Thermidor:

“He stinks,” Bell said emphatically after being asked what he thought of the comments by Bush. “That shouldn’t be said around this locker room. We know that we’re 0-6 and we’re not playing the best but at the same time there’s no need for that.”

The man makes a point, but the damage has been done. Thermidor writes that Bush's remarks have divided the locker room.

“I just think he said it because he was mad like everybody else was,” McDaniel said. “But I would’ve never said anything like that.”

Linebacker Kevin Burnett, meanwhile, thinks Bush is onto something.

“You are what you put on tape, you are what the numbers say you are and right now we stink,” he said. “If you’re scared to admit the truth, you’ll never amount to anything. So I’m definitely man enough to say we’re not doing things effectively and efficiently.”

Burnett, who earlier this month challenged a beat reporter to "put on some pads, homeboy" after said reporter wrote "Kevin Burnett -- He hasn’t done a single thing worth mentioning in the first three games of 2011, and this defense has gone from good to bad very quickly," can now admit that he's part of the problem.

“I did include myself in that equation (of stinking),” he told Thermidor. “We turn over the football, we don’t get off the field on third downs and we allow big plays so that’s the equivalent of stinking. I mean, it is what it is.”

And what it is is a winless 2011, a lame-duck coach and a feature back who has managed to do less in Miami than he did in New Orleans.

Maybe the Dolphins should've signed Darren Sproles. Not only is he having a better season than Bush, he keeps to himself.

The Miami Dolphins are still searching for their first win as they prepare to take on the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. NFL.com's Pat Kirwan and Jason Horowitz preview this matchup. Watch the game on CBS at 1 PM ET.

Yeremiah Bell on Reggie Bush: 'He stinks'

If Bush would just be a slot receiver then he would be fine. Thats all he is. He's not even close to an every down back.

im just surprised that there are actual fans on here defending bush.  reggie bush is garbage and has been for years.  he should be a slot receiver and used very sparingly.  twice a game maybe.

Yeremiah Bell on Reggie Bush: 'He stinks'

Guys guys guys. Who cares whar Bush said or what the response was? They do stink. AND SO DOES REGGIE BUSH. He is your typical heisman winner. A flop. Yes he has a championship but he was not the reason they were there or why they won. His efforts in the NFL have been marginal at best. He is not durable, cant block, and has a big head. The fact that New Orleans was even in the superbowl is a joke. They did not even beat the Vikings who fumbles the ball 6 times. It was the 8 or 9 BOGUS pass interference calls that GAVE them that win. So take your he has a superbowl and shove it because the NFL got them to the game THEN they won it against Indy. Bush is a joke and we all know it.

A Heisman doesn't make you good in the NFL.  Loooooooong list of falied Heisman winners.  Reggie Bush is OK, he doesnt' stink, but he's not great either.

Yeremiah Bell on Reggie Bush: 'He stinks'

BELL IS STUPID!!!!!! Reggie has a super bowl ring (thanks to payton and brees) and HAD a heisman trophy does anyone else on the dolfins have/have had any of those? I haven't looked to deep into it but I am pretty sure no one else on that team does. Reggie knows what it takes to win and he doesn't see it in that locker room. On top of that he gets to watch the saints put up a million points with out him which I am sure makes losing that much worse for him. Bell hasn't won nearly as much so he doesn't know what the heck he is talking about. So lets not sugar coat it, the dolphins are sucking up and down the turf and they need to get fired up. The need to design so plays for reggie who is undoubtably their biggest play maker. Marshall is a big play maker but Matt Moore isn't nuff said. Get him more involved because I know he isn't an everydown back but he has a better chance of breaking out something big then Thomas does. Give him some screens, tosses and just get him in some open field and watch. In the end Reggie Bush is the only one that knows how to win. Marshall doesn't, Bell doesn't, Wake doesn't, Vontae doesn't, Long doesn't, other then one season Tony Sparano doesn't, in fact I think the only other person in that locker room that does know a thing or two about winning is Jason Taylor(who is probably thinking the same thing but is smart enought to not say anything). So Yeremiah Bell take it from me SHUT UP AND LISTEN!!!!!!!!

Yeremiah Bell on Reggie Bush: 'He stinks'

I feel the problem is that he said "this team stinks"  instead of "we stink".

The truth hurts doesn't it Bell?   No more excuses about the fans not knowing what they are talking about.

Reggie Bush has been to a title game in every level of competition he has played (HS, NCAA, & NFL) and has been part of a championship team @ USC & @ NOLA.

The reality is the team does suck but what Reggie is calling people out on is pride.

There was a follow up from another south florida media outlet that quotes Reggie as saying something like "we need to play for our pride".

Reggie for whatever his health issues are, is still finding ways to get on the field and is usually is regarded as the Fins player that shows the most work ethic.
