Reggie Bush says the Dolphins 'stink,' upsets teammates in the process. (US PRESSWIRE)

Posted by Ryan Wilson

It happens every season: a team gets off to a slow start, the frustration builds before reaching a tipping point, and people getting fired, traded or released is invariably preceded by back-stabbing and finger-pointing. Which brings us to the 2011 Dolphins.

At 0-6 they're one of the league's sorriest teams, most recently victimized by the Tim Tebow's Blinding Awesomeness (it didn't help that Miami was in the wrong defense on the game's decisive play).

After Sunday's loss, there was plenty of blame to go around. Reggie Bush, who was traded to Miami before the season, spoke frankly.

“It’s just embarrassing, I don’t know any other way to explain it,” he said. “It’s an embarrassing loss. Had no business losing that game. We were up 15 points with what, five minutes left to go? And we couldn’t win it? It’s disgusting. Right now, this team stinks.”

Bush isn't wrong. It's that he probably shouldn't articulate those thoughts publicly. Team unity and whatnot. On Wednesday, Dolphins safety Yeremiah Bell had some thoughts on Bush.

Via's Jeremiah Thermidor:

“He stinks,” Bell said emphatically after being asked what he thought of the comments by Bush. “That shouldn’t be said around this locker room. We know that we’re 0-6 and we’re not playing the best but at the same time there’s no need for that.”

The man makes a point, but the damage has been done. Thermidor writes that Bush's remarks have divided the locker room.

“I just think he said it because he was mad like everybody else was,” McDaniel said. “But I would’ve never said anything like that.”

Linebacker Kevin Burnett, meanwhile, thinks Bush is onto something.

“You are what you put on tape, you are what the numbers say you are and right now we stink,” he said. “If you’re scared to admit the truth, you’ll never amount to anything. So I’m definitely man enough to say we’re not doing things effectively and efficiently.”

Burnett, who earlier this month challenged a beat reporter to "put on some pads, homeboy" after said reporter wrote "Kevin Burnett -- He hasn’t done a single thing worth mentioning in the first three games of 2011, and this defense has gone from good to bad very quickly," can now admit that he's part of the problem.

“I did include myself in that equation (of stinking),” he told Thermidor. “We turn over the football, we don’t get off the field on third downs and we allow big plays so that’s the equivalent of stinking. I mean, it is what it is.”

And what it is is a winless 2011, a lame-duck coach and a feature back who has managed to do less in Miami than he did in New Orleans.

Maybe the Dolphins should've signed Darren Sproles. Not only is he having a better season than Bush, he keeps to himself.

The Miami Dolphins are still searching for their first win as they prepare to take on the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.'s Pat Kirwan and Jason Horowitz preview this matchup. Watch the game on CBS at 1 PM ET.

Yeremiah Bell on Reggie Bush: 'He stinks'

it's not Reggie's fault the Dolphins signed him...
Seriously, ntjake?  So Reggie had nothing to say about signing with the Dolphins?  I'm pretty sure it was a sign and trade deal with the Saints that sent Bush to the Dolphins for something like $5 million/yr.  Bush renegotiated his contract down from the $11.5 mill he was supposed to receive this season from the Saints.  The point being that he DID renegotiate his contract to be traded to the Dolphins.  He certainly could have refused, the Saints would have release him, and he would have been free to sign with anyone who wanted him.  One gets the feeling there weren't a lot of teams lining up to sign him for $5 mill per, so he jumped at the Dolphins offer.  Now he's on a lousy team, and rather than keep his mouth shut and take home those huge game checks, he's throwing his whole team under the bus in the media.  What a champ.  The best move the Saints made in the offseason was trading that guy and signing Darren Sproiles.  Still got that Heisman stashed away somewhere, Reggie?  The N.Y. Athletic Club wants it back.

It's not that I disagree with you, I actually do, I just wish I could understand half of what you said.

Yeremiah Bell on Reggie Bush: 'He stinks'

Why havent NFL teams realized that this guy is not a running back?  Just think if he was a slot receiver from the get go.  If Bush was an average player with Brees, how would one expect him to excell with Henne?  The Bills are experimenting already with Spiller as the slot guy.  Im not saying CJ is Reggie yet, but why not try with a guy who can catch and is dangerous in the open field, and is obviously not a running back.

Suck for luck in full gear. I too was worried that we would accidentally beat Denver. When we were up I was so worried. But my boys didn't let me down. Giving up that many unanswered points sure isn't easy, but we pulled it off. We have to stay real focused to go 0-16. You have to want it, and our boys do. We have to stay ahead of the darn Colts. They are our biggest competition right now. But we have an edge that they don't. It is getting colder every day and we play worse in cold weather. So when just when the Colts think they are the stinkiest team in the league, cold weather will kick in and we will be the worst franchise the NFL has ever seen.

Now I Get It

After Bush realized that he got paid chump-change for that Pizza Hut commercial he wanted to get a plug for an Old Spice gig by saying, "We Stink".

Makes Perfect Sense Now.

Yeremiah Bell on Reggie Bush: 'He stinks'

Wow, just checked, Bush has 1 TD in the season so far. Now I'm not a Bush hater, I appreciated what he did for New Orleans when he was with the Saints. I'm not saying he is great, or amazing, but he is a good player and to only have 1 TD at this point for your premier runner is stunning. At the end of the day Bush is correct here, the team sucks, its not just one player or one position, the TEAM sucks.

Bush didn't win a super bowl. The Saints did. And if any body deserves more credit it's Drew Brees. Bush was just lucky enough to be there. If he was so good the Saints would have kept him.
