Tashard Choice claimed off waivers by Redskins

On Saturday, the Cowboys made the somewhat surprising decision to waive running back Tashard Choice, just a little over 24 hours before playing the Eagles on Sunday night. On Monday, the Washington Redskins claimed Choice off of waivers.

That the Redskins, at 3-4, were able to claim Choice, as first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN, means a number of other teams, including Philadelphia, passed on the former Georgia Tech star.

But Washington, shut out Sunday against Buffalo in Toronto, has a clear-cut need for offensive help, and with Tim Hightower out for the year, a clear need at running back. Roy Helu and Ryan Torain combined for 24 rushing yards on 11 carries against the Bills Sunday.

Choice was waived/injured so he's not guaranteed to end up even getting playing time with the 'Skins. He's got a hamstring problem and a shoulder problem and, well, it's entirely possible he won't even pass his physical at his point in time.

But Washington, in a freefall from first place in the NFC East, is so beat-up on offense that they probably don't care.

This is probably a move for next year. He's injured now I believe. Nothing wrong with bringing in some help but it's already looking like next year for the Skins. Draft picks 1. QB, 2. OL, 3. WR, 4. RB, 5. OL, 6. LB, 7. CB. Not sure what picks we have or how many but we need to keep it going and have another good one.

A good pick up for the Redskins if Tashard Choice could just hang on to the ball, which I think is the real reason the Cowboys cut him.  He always showed good potential but never really stood apart when he had plenty of chances.  Even as a Redskin I can't wish him too ill of a future...I mean he didn't lose games for us, we got that guy signed and locked up for a few more years....

Choice did not play in the Triple Option at Georgia Tech. He played at Georgia Tech for Coach Chan Gailey.  He is still a solid RB but just lacks the top end speed..

They will probly just use him as a third down back for now but he has alot of potential in this zoneblocking scheme wich has similar blocking schemes to georgia techs tripple option offence.

well hopefully it's a good Choice, literally. honestly, i like Choice better than Torian who tends to get hurt and isnt consistant. that's why i wanted more of Helu.
