The latest Tim Tebow craze: X > Tebow

When I wrote the other day that the criticism of Tim Tebow has gotten to be too much, I had no idea the depths to which some people would stoop in order to make fun of him.

And if you thought the Tebowing mocking was brutal, wait until you get a load of this.

In a column written by Bill Williamson of ESPN.com that made the case that Broncos executives needed to think of a post-Tebow plan since, as we have written about time and time again, Tebow isn’t a legit NFL quarterback at this point.

The readers of the article then commandeered it like a pirate ship on the Indian Ocean and created a meme that’s mean -- and well, sorta funny -- about what exactly is greater than Tebow. As in, X > Tebow.

It goes a little something like this (all of the following are actual a few of the (tens of?) thousands of comments):

Trolling ESPN > Tebow

Creed > Tebow

Rob Schnieder movies > tebow

Herman Cain’s pizza-making skills > Tebow

Federal Pound you in the a$$ prison > Tebow (I’m a sucker for Office Space references)

Kris Humphries > Tebow

And on and on and on.

Of course, those are some of the tamer tweets. And because so many of the comments are racist and misogynistic and simply inappropriate, ESPN moderators tried to keep up with the flow as best they could. As recounted by Deadspin, moderators deleted the unsavory stuff on Monday, but the commentators got even faster and friskier. On Tuesday, ESPN began deleting simply the comments that were in violation of its comments section.

But Wednesday, as Deadspin writes, “The moderators abandoned the battlefield. The commenters won.” Or as one commenter wrote, “Being paid to delete >Tebow comments > Tebow.”

Hopefully, like the Tebowing phenomenon, Tebow handles this full of grace and with a laugh. And hopefully, next week, the Tebow mocking doesn’t get any worse.

The latest: Tebow > lame EyeOnNFL reports

I want to vomit every time I see an article about some BS anybody tweets...I wouldn't subscribe to twitter if they paid me. If there was ever a time when so many idiots got on the same bandwagon for a ride to nowhere... Are there any intellegent people with actual knowledge tweeting about anything important? I'm guessing NO. Leave twitter to the 14 and 15 year olds and do some actual reporting, please.

The media is entirely to blame for this situation. At this point, for me, it's irredeemable and the christening of Tebow has hit such a point that I don't really care what the media says about "giving Tebow a break" because honestly, it's articles like these for the past years that I've been reading that have steadily jaded me to this whole Tebow business.

In all honesty too, Kyle Orton got the extremely short end of the stick as he actually didn't do all that bad in a Denver team that struggled overall but still gets probably the loudest and biggest demands for him to get off the team as any I've ever seen simply due to Tebowmania.

CBS and ESPN deserve a lot of the blame with Tebow. How many times did you log onto their websites or watch their broadcasts when Tebow was at Florida? Every single time they would say crap like "he is the greatest college player every but an even better christian"! Everyone got sick of hearing that crap over and over. All they were trying to do was boost their broadcast ratings. He just was the qb on two very good teams and he was not the best ever. Saying that crap is stupid just like saying Tom Brady is better than Joe Montana. Winning the Heisman is also a joke and it doesn't represent the best player just the most high profile player on the best team. Most have sucked it up on the pro level with Tebow. Any other Heisman winner > Tebow

This Tim tebow craze sure is all over, even at Gametracker, it is funny i get it. But when all are doing it and it just becomes his name filling the posts it get lames especially when you want to interact with fans during the game, Hope cbs do something about it. I even suggested two weeks ago someone put up a Tim Tebow lovefest thread. So that they post it there and not on the gametracker, just saying...
