Report: Warrant issued for Terrell Owens

If Terrell Owens’ biggest problem was the fact he couldn’t find a job, life would be grand. But now he’s got bigger problems than his unemployment.

As TMZ reports, a California judge has issued an arrest warrant for Owens after he failed to show up for a child support hearing.

We told you a few days ago that Owens had asked to reduce his child support payments, because he’s not making as much money today as he was before. Therefore, he can’t pay as much in child support. Or none at all, as Monique Reynolds, who is taking Owens to court for back payments, claims in court.

TO's Problems
Owens apparently knew he was not going to show up for his court appearance -- it was right around the time of his workout in which zero NFL teams showed up to watch -- and he apparently tried to reschedule, but Reynolds’ representation refused.

And if Owens thought he could catch on with an NFL team in order to earn some money, Bengals safety Chris Crocker, Owens’ former teammate, said he can understand why nobody seems interested.

“When we talk about how perception is reality, the perception around the league is that he’s a bad locker room guy and a bad teammate,” Crocker said in this week’s Five Questions (or more). “Organizations don’t want to bring that dynamic in the locker room, especially with him 37 or 38 years old. I just don’t think people are willing to do it. I’m not saying he’s a bad teammate, but he was called one when he was in San Fran, in Philly, in Dallas. It’s like a circus. Teams just don’t want to go that route. You bring him in, and you bring in all the stuff that goes with it.”

Hopefully, “all that stuff” doesn’t include becoming a deadbeat dad.

Report: Warrant issued for Terrell Owens

It should be a percentage of your income up to a certaint point, and then there should be a set amount once the income hits an upper class salary, so kids aren't getting $35,000 a month for "child support". So I agree with T.O in that he should have a massive reduction in support payments for now...but wait...you're telling me the riveting T.O show isn't bring him in millions?!

Unfortunately for T.O. the candle burns at both ends and meet in the middle aka time up ! T.O. has no one to blame for his problems but himself. He was an a--hole on every team he played on and he was a thorn in the side of his teammates and now that he's 37 years old and not the same talented WR he once was, no NFL team is going to put up with his pompous pampered ass. If you're going to sleep around at least be man enough to protect yourself and apparently T.O. nor this woman thought much about protecting against bringing a child into the world that neither of them can support.

On a sadder note, T.O. played 14 or 15 years of football and for him like many other former NFL players to end up broke, near broke or cash poor is a travesty and it negates all the time spent preparing to make an NFL roster.

Report: Warrant issued for Terrell Owens

it certnly is a broken system. lets give two examples, in nearly all cases men are ordered to pay the brth expenses and health insurance for the children. women who also cooperated in making the  babies skate on this. why? shouldnt women pay  half of these expenses

now lets take an intact  family and use an extreme, a millionaire say Bill gates or TO is married to the woman or the child lives with them. he is under a duty to provide for the basic needs of that child, food clothing shelter but no more than that.   he owes that child no  big screen TV or lavish lifestyle though it is assumed  that the child will benefit from the living with the wealthy parent and live a more lavish lifestyle too. the millionaire can spend his money where and when he wants, can will it to anyone and completely exclude the child and not give him a penny,  everyone perceives this as a peronal choice and why few might choose this road (bill gates has stated  he will not leave his children his forture in his or his wifes wills) we recognize his right to do so

now on the other hand the millionaire is not living with the child and  percentages of  his income are being taken for child support  from 17 to 25% of his earnings go to the child  and give a more lavish lifestyle to the child and more importantly to the mother who sturck gold in laying down with  the right man.  in some cases these  amounts are enromous and are in effect a  forced inheritance no matter how you spin it,  the courts frequently establish trust funds virtually accepting that the money is more than needed for the support of the child and bank it for the child's future education or transistion into adulthood.

Let me remind you that a parent with a child in his home owes no legal duty to  give a child a  college edcuation or a stipend for his  transistion. most of us try to do that but we are not legally obligated too. why does the child who doesnt have daddy in his home have these greater rights? what about the  frequent situation which personally i am in where i  have children from a second relationship living with me  and i pay for the  child from the first. each and every month money goes out to  the first not in any proportion to the remaining children. my first child gets more by far than my other children and  has substantial money saved for her college education while my others do not.

the fact is this child support punishes the  responsible dads more than the  irresponsible.  dead beats dads with no "ability to pay" are ordered to pay nothing; pay at minimum wage imputed wages or are send on job searches in a nearly non-hiring economy. the payers on the other hand pay  rounting fees, 12 to 18% interest and are subject to income tax seizure;  wage interceptions and various liscense suspensions if they get behind even if they have made years and years of diligent payents.

child support is the last remaining inequality issue left in family law,  community property and alimony now are the norm and with them as the norm the women surprisingly are getting less and less. no fault divorce and maintainece have resulted in less property funneled back to women . child support is the one area still dominated by women.  studies are thrown out there and made gospel by many political slanted groups as to what it costs to raise children. most numbers are vastly inflated. The say you need food electricity and housing that costs this much, but they don't factor in ONE that the woman has to live somewhere too and that these costs are overlapping and TWO  what duty the woman has to provide at least half of the same costs.  the system is just not fair to men in general and the money paid especially  by  high wage earners is  ridiculous.

to those who say tough you did the  woman you do the payment, i say nearly all of you who say that have never had to pay and navigate yourself through a system that is totally fixated on tapping the  income and nothing else. That purports to give a damm about children and then lets your remaing family and children suffer.  That has political views and uses the children as  its banner to persuade you  of its rightness.

child support reform is  tremendously needed.

Report: Warrant issued for Terrell Owens

None of this would have even been in the news if Owens had simply attended the hearing.  In addition, he stood a far greater chance of having his monetary obligations reduced if he showed up to explain to the presiding Judge what his issues were.  Time and time again, Owens has shown that he is an irresponsible simpleton who cannot be trusted any further than he can be thrown.
