Panthers cut Wilson, arrested last week for pot

On Monday, Panthers practice squad linebacker Lawrence Wilson thought he could keep his job after his arrest last week on charges of speeding and possession of marijuana.

"I'm going to learn from this and try to put it behind me," Wilson said, via the Charlotte Observer.

Unfortunately for Wilson, who cried when he was arrested because he was worried about his job, he’ll have to learn his lesson from somewhere other than Panthers headquarters, because he was cut Tuesday.

Said general manager Marty Hurney (also via the Observer): “Obviously, the incident last week didn't help his cause. It's clear that we do not want anybody's personal conduct reflecting poorly on the club.”

Police said they stopped Wilson -- a 2011 sixth-round pick -- for speeding just as the team began to leave town for its bye week (Wilson was on his way to Virginia), and when they approached the car, they smelled marijuana. Police then allegedly discovered 11 grams (0.39 ounces) of pot.

Wilson said that was incorrect; he says he only was holding two grams. Not that, ahem, it matters to a cop.

"Weed's weed, no matter how much you've got," he said Monday.

And sometimes, as Wilson has learned, weed will knock you out of a job.

“It was very disappointing, it really was," coach Ron Rivera said. "It was one of those things where this is about maturing, about growing up and being held accountable and responsible. More than anything else, it's about what we are trying to do. We don't need distractions like this."

Panthers cut Wilson, arrested last week for pot

I see more people dying from drunk driving then people high on weed. Also smoking cigarettes kills 100 times more people
a year than weed does, yet it is legal

Almost forgot to respond to this one, just have to.  Yes, technically more people get killed or kill others driving drunk then people high on weed, but if you think about it for a minute that's an unfair argument.  Why?  Because alcohol is readily available in stores all over the place, sometimes 24 hours per day... more people drink.  Second of all and most important is the fact the police can prove somebody is drunk using a breathalyzer, it's much harder proving an accident was caused by weed.  Cops aren't carrying needles around them with drug test kits sticking them into people's arms, how can they PROVE an accident was caused by somebody that smoked weed?  In most countries, states and cities everywhere authorities aren't allowed to force anybody to take a blood test anyway.... the courts can, but a police officer can't do that.   Yet in most places it's illegal for somebody to refuse a breathalyzer... so it's much easier to get caught drinking and driving then it is to get caught smoking weed.  They can't prove weed was the reason for an accident.... bloodshot eyes aren't proof.. not even a smell is proof.... only blood levels, and even after a blood test they don't know WHEN the person smoked up, coulda been 2 or 3 weeks ago.....

Like I said, it's an unfair comparison....

Notice how when I ask him why he is such a BULLYING JERK,HE DISAPPEARS

How on earth can you say you're trying to be more respectful to me, and proceed to calling me names in 2 different posts so close to each other?   I don't get you man.... I have no idea what you're trying to do.  Think about this before you respond again.  In one post I believe right before the one I'm responding to, you say you're making an effort to be nicer.... yet it seems like 2 seconds later you snap and poof, you're back to name calling, insulting how many times I post, etc  .  Notice how aside from the "pothead" reference that I'll explain in a second, you are one of the few if not the only person I've argued with in the last few threads/stories I've participated in. Just for once make up your mind...... either you want to talk sports the right way or you don't.  But you're not allowed to tell me you're making an effort to be nicer and 2 seconds later change your mind....

As for the pothead comment,  I can explain that very easily.  I would NEVER call somebody names just because they smoke pot.  My best friend and a guy I grew up with smoked pot for 15 or 20 years himself before he quit, we are still friends and I never once swore at him or insulted him for making his choice.  BUT...... he was smart enough to admit that POT IS BAD... IT'S NOT GOOD FOR YOU.... he also admitted many times that although some other drugs are worse, he was mentally very addicted to pot.  He admitted to needing it and wanting it all the time... he admitted to feeling funny and anxious when he didn't have any.  He was HONEST about it, didn't B.S me ..... I respect people that say something like, "pot isn't good for me but I feel like I need to have it" or somebody that says "I love pot, I don't care if it's bad or good for me, I'm not stopping"..... at least they are being HONEST.....

But anybody that tells me pot is good for them or anybody that tells me pot isn't bad for a person or anybody that tells me pot isn't addictive in any way, shape or form is going to be called a pothead... he's going to be called names because statements like that are semi retarded in my opinion... crazy, crazy statements.

Is alcohol worse?  Maybe it is, I don't know.  But honestly, I don't care either because the topic at hand was pot.  The one thing pot users have a problem with is they are very defensive.  You tell them pot is bad, and they immediately start defending pot by pointing at other things that are worse.    THC is NOT GOOD for anybody.... increased levels of THC in today's weed is getting worse as well.  Pot users are inhaling something into their lungs that isn't going to help them at all...  it can't be good.  If we want to compare alcohol to weed one advantage alcohol has is not only does your liver repair itself in literally days if you don't drink back to back to back days, but you only need a small portion of your liver to survive.  With marijuana potentially affecting your lungs, increasing your heart rate, etc   there is no way that can be goo.

That's it.. long post but I made my point and I'm done talking about marijuana on CBS.   Anybody that likes it, keep doing it.  Just don't say it's not bad for you because that makes a person look stupid....

Panthers cut Wilson, arrested last week for pot

As for your Niece if in fact that did
happen I AM SORRY,but maybe it was listening to you that made her brain cells go.

You're awesome. Way to go, it's always great making a joke and making light of a young lady who's life is destroyed.  Then again, am I really that surprised you would do that?  Not at all....

I smoked weed for over 20 years,now that I have kids I don't smoke at all,but I went to school,had a hockey
schlorship, graduated and started my own buisness,so your stereotyping is wrong

I know a lot of people that smoked weed, some that still do.  If you really believe pot isn't bad for you, there is something seriously wrong with you.   No way in hell any drug that makes anybody high and feel different in the head doesn't hurt something.

And I never said a pot user or ex pot user couldn't succeed in life.  I know a guy that used to smoke pot that became a doctor. I know another that became a lawyer.  But they both quit..... and they were lucky.

To think weed isn't bad for you is ridiculous.  And by the way, is it your goal to follow me around or respond negatively to every post I make?

If you see nothing wrong with people that smoke pot, you don't insult them and believe it doesn't affect people like it did my niece, then why did you stop when you had kids?

FOR ONCE, ANSWER A QUESTION WITHOUT NONESENSE.... tell me man.  Why did you stop?  If pot is harmless without risks and you don't look down on people that do it, then why not smoke it now that you have kids?  You shouldn't have a problem doing it if you really believe it's not harmful.
