It was a rough Sunday for the Eagles, as they lost at home to Arizona 21-17. The defense was bad, DeSean Jackson was missing for disciplinary reasons, and Michael Vick looked horrible.

But Vick's apparently got a good excuse for his poor play -- Andy Reid told reporters on Monday, via our Eagles Rapid Reporter Kevin Noonan, that Vick suffered a couple broken ribs against the Cardinals and that he could miss time going forward.

"We'll see," Reid said when asked if Vick would play Sunday.

According to Reid, Vick suffered the injury on the second play of the game against Arizona. If that's the case, it's not hard to see how -- Daryl Washington came off the edge, basically unblocked, and laid into Vick's side after the quarterback threw a completion to tight end Brent Celek.

The hit obviously affected Vick over the course of the game, even if he didn't disclose it following the loss yesterday.

Week 10 Wrapup

"I wasn’t accurate today," Vick said Sunday, per Noonan. "I never really got comfortable and that can’t happen. I have to find a way to get it done."

It's kind of hard to imagine that the Eagles would play Vick on Sunday; though there's an argument to made that their season hangs in the balance right now, there's also an argument to be made that the Eagles season is over.

The Giants sport a ferocious pass rush (they're first in the NFL with 30 sacks this season) and trotting Vick out against the Giants could expose him to further injury, even if he wears a flak jacket or some other protective device. In other words, the upside for putting Vick under center just isn't there, even if the downside involves Vince Young running the offense.

In other Eagles news, Andy Reid believes he's still the coach to lead Philadelphia.

"I am," Reid said when asked that question Monday.

Reid also said Juan Castillo would continue to call the defensive plays for the Eagles and that no change was coming on that end of things.

And DeSean Jackson is still a starting wide receiver, per Reid, who said the team addressed his status and laid it all on the table. That's a good thing, because several players, including Vick, lamented the loss of Jackson to the team's offense yesterday.

"Any time you don't have one of your premier players, one of your go-to guys, it does [hurt]," Vick said. "But we have to respect the decisions that were made. We wish it never had to come to that, but it is what it is and you still have to go out and win the football game."

To sum up: it's a complete and utter mess right now in Philadelphia and despite the Eagles not being mathematically eliminated yet, things don't appear poised to make a turn for the better.

Could not happen to a nicer guy. They should put that meat Lady Ga Ga (or Lady Koo Koo) outfit on him then toss his as$ in a room w/ 15 starving pit bulls. This idiotís contract will be to the eagles what Barry Zitos is to the SF Giants.

What a nightmare. I actually just kind of feel sorry for the Eagles at this point. OK, not really, but jeez. How much worse can it get for this team?

You might put that question to the field of candidates running for POTUS. How much better do they look in their suits, expensive suits, shirts and ties when they say torture is OK? Or is it just Vick?

Vick has couple broken ribs, could miss time

Funny how when he`s having a bad game, it`s due to an "injury". Against Atlanta, he suffered a "concussion", but was ready to go the next week. I can`t remember the last time a player suffered a concussion, and was able to play the next week. And it seems they always wear the different helmet, thats better for players that get a concussion, but not the ex-con, he`s ready to go, and wears the same helmet. You would think someone as injury prone as him, would take every precaution to protect that fragile little body, and little brain of his.

THERE IS ZERO PERCENT CHANCE OF VICK NOT PLAYING NEXT WEEK. ZERO. Tony Romo set the standard for playing with broken ribs. You think Vick is going to sit out after Romo played? Not a chance. Even if Vick wants to sit out, he know he can't.

Ummmmm I'd say he got paid and might not paid because he could risk an injury to "the franchise" qb... what a joke.... good luck Eagle fans with that....

It's funny how everybody is ripping Micheal Vick when most of you were holding his nutz last year saying how great he is...DJax gets a free pass for dropping balls. Dumb comments like " well he isn't getting paid, why should he risk injury"..well, because he makes more money that all of us for doing one thing..catching pass's and he can't even do that.

I think most people are ripping him because its more of a Karma thing for him.... no way around it, karma comes back to ya, he does wrong, he gets paid? How is that fair... I'm sure karma isn't done yet either.... as far as Jackson getting a free pass I feel no one thinks he did anything as bad and he hasn't... sure he is holding out and wants a contract which is annoying but I'd take that over a dog killer any day. I don't blame this game on Vick that is to easy, but he is not playing well, and he wasn't dominant last year when faced with any amount of pressure and when he started off this year "great" against the blitzes he was still made out to be a great qb and now we see how that has gone... send pressure he holds on a bit to long and takes hits, fumbles, and throws picks... he is the same QB as he was in Atlanta except with a great offense....

The Giants will be licking thier chops at the fresh smell blood. He was hurt the last time they played and got hurt worse. Someone compared his injury to Romo's. Difference is Romo is more of a pocket passer. vick rely's on his feet and look where it is getting him. He's taking a beating. He's not 22 anymore and can't run like it either. Teams have caught up to his speed after seeing him for a few games last year.
