It's only Monday, but we've already got our weekly Redskins quarterback semi-drama out of the way: Rex Grossman will start for Washington when they play the Cowboys in Week 11.

That's according to Mike Shanahan, who didn't hesitate to announce the news at his Monday press conference.

"I was impressed with the way [Rex] played," Shanahan said.

Impressed here is relative, of course, because Grossman wasn't good in the Redskins 20-9 loss to Miami, going 21 of 32 for 215 yards and two picks.

Week 10 Wrapup

But Grossman was more effective than John Beck, who he replaced this past week. Grossman didn't get the win, obviously, and he wasn't necessarily good, but he at least moved the offense and provided some hope that the 'Skins could pull off the upset in Miami.

As did rookie wideout Leonard Hankerson, who flashed some serious potential with an eight-catch, 106-yard effort against the Dolphins.

Unfortunately for the Redskins, Hankerson's season ended Monday with the announcement that he was placed in injured reserve with a torn labrum. Shanahan said the timeline for rehab would be about four months.

Shanahan also said that Santana Moss wouldn't be available against Dallas (though he could be back for the Seattle game), which means the Redskins top-two receiving options against their hated rival will be Jabar Gaffney and the newly-signed David Anderson.

Clearly, things have gone south for Washington since their 3-1 start, and there's no real reason for hope in the near future.

You are an effing idiot.  Worst NFL franchise? That makes a lot of sense.  They are on a downswing - a prolonged one at that.  But when the 49ers were terrible for the past however long were they are terrible franchise?  If there is a Skins fan that disagreed with the fact that we have no QB and an anemic offense at best, then they are an idiot.  and as a Giants fan, what is your beef with cooley and your fascination with Romo's fallus?  First off, the Cooley/Romo comment is MONTHS old.  Secondly he did not say anything about Romo being bad or talking down about Romo as a person.  He said he enjoys watching him and the Cowboys lose/choke at the end of games.  Did they/he not do that against Detroit and the Jets?  So a guy on a rival team enjoys watching said rival's quaterback - who is overrated none the less - lose?  BLASPHEMY.  I'm sure Demarcus Ware doesn't enjoy watching the Redskins' have a revolving door at QB and HC and still suck.  Cooley just verbalized it because he doesn't care what people like your 'kool' a$$ think about him.

You should worry about your own team and their crazy schedule coming up.  And if you really did like the Giants, then you would be rooting for the Redskins to keep the Cowboys from taking full advantage of their weak schedule in contrast to your heavy one.  Not to mention - didn't we beat you week one?  Oh you had a lot of injuries, right?  Yeah so can I use that excuse with the Redskins having at least 4 guys who started at some point in the season (3 opening day starters) on IR with another out for the past month, a 2nd round pick that would have gotten significant playing time on IR as well and random other injuries across the board as an excuse?  No.  Its football.  The Packers WON THE SUPERBOWL and they had half their team on IR.  And isn't running their mouth part of a fan's job?  Didn't you run your mouth last year when you guys were up 28 against philly in the 4th and then Desean walked off on you?  STFU and worry about splitting the season series with us.

Rex is better than Beck but neither one is a starter in the NFL. Shanahan has lost it, lost it since Elway retired.

...all this from a fan of a team that always starts strong, and fades late. The Giants are fool's gold - as always.

How about you don't play Torain, and get Helu on the field more.  That coach ain't done nothing since Elway left.

The beat an extremely ijured Giants team, and then St. Louis and Arizona. Does that answer your question?

And after that 3-1 start all their fans were running their mouths.  This is easily one of if not the worst NFL franchises left. They have absolutely no direction, no QB and a head coach whose best days are clearly behind him. Maybe that POS Cooley will run his mouth some more this week in preparation for the a$$ kicking the Cowboys are going to deliver on Sunday. You think Romo doesn't have what Cooley said in the back of his mind?  That 44-7 game against Buffalo is going to look close when when the Cowboys destroy the Skins on Sunday...and all this from a Giants fan. Suck it Redskin fan...
