We told you earlier this week that the Chicago-Detroit tilt from Sunday (a resounding 37-13 victory for the Bears) would likely involve some players getting fined by the NFL.

Well, the first of those fines rolled in on Thursday morning, and it's directed at defensive lineman Kyle Vanden Bosch, who was reportedly fined $7,500 for hitting a runner on the ground, according to ESPN.

Apparently, the collective decision of Lions and Bears players earlier this week that Detroit isn't dirty wasn't enough to prevent the NFL from beginning to fire out expensive Fed Ex envelopes.

But all the fines in this game aren't because of violence -- Earl Bennett was fined for his clothes. Or, more specifically, his orange shoes, which cost him $10,000 for wearing them for the second straight week.

Last week, Bennett was fined $5,000 for wearing the orange cleats and a whole controversy brewed up about whether or not Jay Cutler can pay the fine for Bennett, who's emerged as Cutler's best receiving option. (He cannot.)

UPDATED (Nov. 18; 11:38 A.M. ET): According to the Chicago Sun-Times' Sean Jensen, Bears cornerback D.J. Moore, the man who scrapped with Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford that led to the bench-clearing fracas, has been fined $15,000 for his role. According to reports, Moore also has been ruled out for Sunday's game vs. the Chargers.

More fines are almost surely to come.

UPDATED (1:04 p.m.): According to the Detroit Free Press, Stafford has been fined $7,500 for throwing Moore to the ground, the same figure as Rob Sims for jumping on the pile late.

UPDATED (2:35 p.m.): Detroit's Nick Fairley has been fined $15,000 for his illegal hit on Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

Two, that hit on Stafford wasn't dirty.  It's just that your QB is about as tough as overcooked Ramen noodles.

Cutler has an MCL sprain and he is tough, but Stafford suffers a dislocated shoulder and requires surgery and he is not. You do realize that he threw a game winning TD WITH that dislocated shoulder against the Browns in 2009 right, yeah what wuss. Cutler is very tough, but so is Stafford, he has taken some hits as well. He should have gotten that shoulder fixed the first time, that was the problem. You know, when you answer a stupid post, with another stupid, you make yourself look just as ignorant as the first guy that spouted off. Way to go!!!

didnt your qb give up last year nfc champship game and isnt peppers a dirty player he drove stafford on his shoulder in the opening week oh but thats ok right bear fans there a joke

One, Cutler didn't give up he suffered a Grade II MCL sprain.  You should understand Grade 2 ...... since you repeated it 3 times.

Since Cutler has been sacked more than any other QB in the NFL in the last 3 years and only missed one start, I'm pretty sure he's tougher than a QB who has only been available for half his team's games.

For all you whining Lions fans, Dick Butkus was a mean tough guy who played hard, unlike the Lions' Suh and Fairley and the likes.  You need to man up.  The Lions are no where near as good as their record.  They received an old fashion butt whooping and now are scared little girls who we wont see in the playoffs.

Didnt the Lions beat the Bears in week 5, how good were they then?? Yeah, they got a butt whooping, big deal. All Chicago did in all reality was win a game at home, that puts the series at 1-1. If the Lions are soooo bad, what does that make the Bears, they did lose to the Lions. The Lions came out and 2 guys fumbled on 2 straight possessions (2 guys that almost never fumble) and they couldnt get it together after that. The Bears came out and played a great game, they are a good team. The other 2 losses, also against good teams, both of which the Lions were in the games. Every team has a bad game at some point, look at the Ravens. Do you think they wont make the playoffs as well?? I mean, they did lose to the Seahawks, they must suck too, right? And you are right, Dick Butkus is a legend, one of the best ever, but Suh and Fairley play very hard, that is part of your statement is just ignorant. You really think they dont play hard?? They are young and aggressive, and they need to learn to tone it down at times, but I love the aggressive style they bring to the table. Just wish they would be more disciplined and not get so many drive extending penalties, and I think they will in time. I hope both teams make the playoffs and put 3 teams in from the North, that would be great IMO.

All fines go to charity.  So by getting fined you are donating to a charity.

Wonder if it's a tax write-off....

Money that is paid by NFL players for their fines goes to the United Way, so it does go to charity.
